Right on Trout Creek, this historic cabin is in the middle of a working horse ranch. We raise Marchador horses as well as much of the food we eat. In season, you can collect eggs for your breakfast and fresh milk & cream is often available. Bring your fishing license! Trout Creek has earned her name. Plenty of hiking and mountain biking trails! Quiet beauty in the Montana mountains.
Full kitchen with a double oven as well as microwave. Coffee maker. Lots of other foodie sorts of things.
Trout Creek Canyon is a spectacular and easy trail, about three miles one way. We often see mountain goats high on the canyon walls.
There are very few lights at night so stargazers can have their fill of night skies that are filled with stars and the Milky Way arches high over head.
Come enjoy! Relax. The weight of the world seems to crumble way out here.

Our stay was wonderful. Tia and her husband are such amazing people. We loved being surrounded by the beauty of their property and all their beautiful animals.
Nothing could be more relaxing than this quiet, pastoral location. There are some good hiking trails nearby, and not far from fishing access. A wonderful respite from the rush of everyday life.
Wonderful stay in a gorgeous and relaxing setting. Would highly reccomend if you love nature's beauty, farm/ranch life, or a desire to disconnect. My boys loved all the animals. Daily greetings from the dogs was a trip highlight. I would stay again without hesitation.
Our hosts, Tia and Derek, were the best. The cabin was perfect as a place of rest and relaxation from the world. Loved the surroundings of nature, the creek and all the farm animals. We will be back!
Stayed for mine and my friends birthday weekend and we had an amazing time. We loved seeing the horses on the property every day and the owners dogs occasionally stopped by to say hi. Trout Creek being right behind the cabin was beautiful. All in all a great time spent there and we are looking forward to our next visit.
Our two night stay at the cabin was exactly what we were looking for...great hosts, great surroundings, and an awesome working horse farm with an abundance of other critters.
We are urban dwellers and were looking for a true rustic retreat and we completely satisfied with our stay! Thank you Tia and Derek!
The property with the animals and fields and cottage is like a dream. The beds are very comfortable and the sitting area next to the creek is amazing to wake up and have your coffee by. The kitchen has everything you could need to make meals. Access to great hiking and biking nearby. The owners are hard workers and so friendly. They are willing to help in any way to make your stay great. We would love to return to explore the area and stay again!
This was the perfect getaway! The property is absolutely gorgeous and the home was set up nicely with everything we needed to be comfortable. The kids loved the invitation to help gather eggs in the morning. We only wish we had booked more time there to explore & unwind
We really enjoyed this setting. Beautiful views of the mountains and horses (fun to watch) on one side, and a nice stream out the back. You can relax on a deck about 20-30 feet from a stream. Beautiful sky and star gazing at night. Great trails and car exploring accessible on foot or by car. Tia and Derek are great hosts and very interesting people.
After a long cross-country drive, I needed a quiet place to recharge my soul. This little piece of heaven was perfect. Tia and her husband made me feel at home. The cabin was just as described: not fancy, but absolutely comfortable, with everything a person would need. The surroundings are breathtaking and restorative. Thank you for the perfect recuperation.
Unplugged area, wifi was available when needed.
Stayed with our family of 5 - plenty of room. Private and secluded cabin/farm house beside small creek and friendly farm animals. Beautiful scenery and several trail heads in the area.
Hosts were friendly and accommodating. Offered wonderful fresh eggs and let the kids picked some.
Cabin was fully furnished with plenty of condiments.
Will definitely consider returning.
My husband and I and our two kids stayed at this cabin while checking out the area and looking at properties. We fell in love with the peaceful location of this cozy little cabin. If you step out the back slider of the master you are just steps away from a beautiful creek. Leave the window open at night and fall asleep to the sound of the creek. The horses and their foals were a favorite for our daughters. They are so beautiful and very well loved. Tia and her family are very nice but also give you your space. We would definitely stay there again!
Tia and Derek are wonderful hosts! If you love farm animals and want a nice quiet getaway, this is a great choice. The fresh eggs and milk are an added bonus!
I'm a semi-retired veterinarian, my husband is a civil engineer. We raise gaited Marchador horses from Brazil on this high mountain ranch. We live on the ranch and the VRBO property is near the main ranch house.
Why they chose this property
The Cabin on Trout Creek was built in the 1930s as a place for the newly married son of the rancher to live with his wife. It was called "The Honeymoon Cabin" for many years. It's been upgraded and has a sunlit kitchen and full bath. The original out house is still functional!
What makes this property unique
Listening to the creek lull you to sleep is one of the big benefits of this cabin. Hiking and skiing, mountain biking and fishing in fresh mountain air will make you fall in love with this mountain valley. There are horses to visit with right across the fence and, depending on the time of year, infant foals frolic with their moms near the yard.
