Amazing pre-wedding stay for groom!
My wife and I had our wedding ceremony at Splendor mountain, and I stayed at this cabin the night before, as well as using the cabin as a prep area for me and my groomsmen. The cabin itself was clean and very spacious. My groomsmen and I had plenty of room to relax, get dressed, take pictures and anything else we needed. Chevin, the owner, is a very sweet lady who was extremely helpful and easy to work with It was very peaceful at night! I would absolutely come back!

Great Cabin
We loved our stay at the Ruby cottage. It feels very secluded but is still convenient to the town of Clayton. Lots of good hiking nearby. The cabin was perfect for our family and had everything we needed. I would definitely stay here again.

Thanksgiving
The host was very responsive. The property is wonderful and looks just like it is listed! My family enjoyed our first cabin trip. The only downfall was the wifi- we tried to watch the game on Thanksgiving day but the wifi reception was poor. This may be due to the location of the WiFi towers in the mountains

A very SPLENDID Splendor Mountain Family reunion!
What a beautiful, fun-filled mini family reunion we had this August... A whirlwind 22 of us, from ages 18 months to 75! The grounds and cottages Ruby & Sapphire were filled with joyful hoots n' hollers, play & comfort.. Our meals were delicious and picking up groceries from nearby Ingles/Walmart or any number of eateries in town, easy as pie/cakes. The weather a perfect late summer, balmy weekend.. There were different areas for the kids to swim, throw frisbees, play chase & catch. The cottages were perfect. moms and dads and kids and grands sleeping up to six in beds on the main floor & loft. The downstairs had game tables with lots of additional floor space to add a few blowup mattresses. There were also comfy beds for six and a full bathroom downstairs as well. Most of our meals were in the Sunrise Lodge, where there is a huge kitchen for cooking & eating lunch and dinner or preparing a picnic lunch if the families wanted to explore & hike. Our family had at least one big meal on Saturday there, with everyone bringing something yummy (I've never seen so much food!!).. We were having so much fun all day & night.. swimming, eating, talking & playing that we didn't have time to go up to the overlook for a bonfire & s'mores (next time!!). The lodge has a small fire pit, so everyone stayed at the lodge. There is also a walking labyrinth on the property for reflective & meditative relaxation. Most of all the time went so fast! We promised to organize another bigger family reunion for 2023 or 2024. In the meantime, we feel blessed that our dear sister hostess Chevin and nephew Uri and niece Rachael, have created, with such oving care & attention to detail, a very Splendid Splendor Mountain for the enjoyment of all who visit! We have so many photos & videos to enjoy & re-live our fantastic Woodruff-Illges gathering!

Bachelor Pad Success
My husband, his brother and nephew, his best friends, and my father and grandfather stayed in this cabin during our wedding week in Northern GA. They had the greatest time together in this cabin (from the sounds of it) and his best friends continously spoke praises about the quality of the lodging. Everyone was already planning to return again some time in the future for a weekend getaway as a group.

Perfect Christmas Vacation
Splendor Mountain was perfect for our family’s Christmas Vacation and celebration of my parent’s 40th Anniversary. The Ruby cottage was everything we needed and more. Spacious bedrooms, lounging areas, and a good sized kitchen. Chevin was always a phone call or text away to answer any of our questions. It was a lovely experience and we look forward to returning one day. BTW, photos will never do this place justice... you have to see it in person.

Great place for a large group
We stayed at Chevin’s property for our annual ladies’ group mountain trip. There were 9 of us and we had plenty of room in the Ruby cottage! It was so nice having plenty of beds available to sleep in. The view from the deck of the forest and mountain was beautiful! Chevin went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable! She was very responsive and accommodating to our requests. She even made a huge bonfire for us to enjoy one night! Our stay at the Ruby Cottage on Splendor Mountain will be a cherished memory. Be sure to arrive for your first night’s stay when it is daylight because driveway can be a little intimidating if you’re not familiar with it. It’s no problem after you drive it the first time .

We wished we stayed longer!
We absolutely loved our stay at the Ruby cottage. It was so perfect for our family of 7. We had plenty of space. It was cozy and comfortable; very clean and had everything we needed. The property was huge!! and it was beautiful and well maintained. We loved swimming and using the canoes at the pond too. Chevin was a wonderful host. We can't wait to go back with more family :)

Wonderful cottage, property and host! Five stars!!
The property is beautiful, the cottage is perfect and the host, Chevin, is dedicated to making your experience unforgettable. Our teenagers loved the private lake and the space to spread out in the cabin. We loved the privacy, but also the convenient location to the town with hiking trails, grocery stores and cool downtown restaurants. Highly recommend. We are already planning to come back in the fall!

Fantastic!
Chevin is the kindest, sweetest host. She is great at communicating and made our stay at her property extra special. Ruby Cottage was perfect for our large family. It was clean and had plenty of towels, kitchen items, and games/puzzles to play with. The property is gorgeous. The lake is so fun. Our teenagers had a blast! The state parks and waterfalls near the property were amazing. We even visited Goats on the Roof, which is very close to the property. On our last day, Chevin even invited us to her personal fire pit that overlooks the mountains. We roasted marshmallows and ate s’mores. It’s was simply perfect. She really is the kindest host we have ever met. She cares deeply and makes everyone feel at home. We can’t wait to go back again!

The child and inner child I have lived with all my life loves nature and God's creatures. Moving to the mountains was not my first dream of where I would be during this time of life, but every day it is a dream come true that I couldn't have imagined. My college years happened to be the years I became a mother and moved to San Antonio to attend Bible college, then to Indiana to help with youth camp for the summer which turned out to be a great place to raise two great children, then back down south. Because I was mostly raised in Florida, summer camp in the mountains of North Carolina kept me active and cool, and planted the seeds for the love of the mountains, ferns, mountain creeks, cool mornings and evenings and trees as a canopy. I love my community, the restaurant in town where I raced the clock to be before 11:00 AM to have a stack of Buckwheat Pancakes, had a sign, I identified with and commented on often that read, I wasn't born in Rabun County, but I got here as fast as I could, and many of us did just that, and this makes for a great little tourist town.

Why they chose this property

I chose this property because I saw it on my birthday weekend, and my dogs who were in the car with me, my mother and her dog met the wonderful Kathy who hugged a tree when I said, "I'll take it." after all our dogs slid down the cascade covered rock into the creek.

What makes this property unique

There was so much water on the property that one day I asked Madison the road builder Extrodinaire if he would create a spring fed lake in the middle of the property. It has become a great habitat for many of God's creatures and the water is crystal clear and cold for the summer day's activities like canoeing and swimming. When the lake was built it opened an amazing night sky and view of the mountains at the Mountain Song Overlook bonfire site.
