Colorado Traction Law:
From September through May 31, the Colorado Traction Law is in effect for all drivers traveling on I-70 between Morrison and Dotsero as well as US-285 to Breckenridge . This law mandates that vehicles must be equipped with either four-wheel or all-wheel drive and snow-rated or mud + snow tires. Alternatively, vehicles with two-wheel drive must have winter tires, chains, or other traction devices. Ensuring your vehicle is properly equipped is essential for safe winter driving in Colorado. If you’re renting a car, be sure to confirm with your rental company that your vehicle meets these requirements.

Important Winter Advisory:
Please be aware that during the winter months, roads and driveways are likely to be snow-covered or icy, making four-wheel drive (4WD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) essential for safe travel. We are unable to offer refunds for vehicles that get stuck or require towing, and unfortunately, we cannot assist with towing or vehicle recovery. Additionally, some properties may require 4WD or AWD even during non-winter months due to uneven terrain and dirt roads. If you have any questions about your rental, feel free to reach out to us for further details.

This property had a little bit of everything for everyone. And talking to management about issues we had was super easy and they always got back to us on a timely manner.

Winter Wonderland
Stayed here with a couple friends. Group of 10. It was a nice space but there definitely wasn’t enough beds. Was in the perfect area to go on the slopes and also go into town. There is a free shuttle that picks you up right down the road, which is just a couple of steps. Would definitely stay here again!

Great rental that's definitely seen a lot of use
Overall we enjoyed our stay as the location - close to town with a shuttle stop to the lifts just a few feet away. That said, we found many stains and slightly broken objects throughout our stay which made it feel like it wasn't cleaned very well before our stay.

Nice stay
Good location, nice house, hot tub was a plus. Can get on the slopes by walking down the street for 50 yards. Plenty of towels and separate ones for the hot tub. Coffeemaker with filters. The room with bunk beds is good for kids, not the best for adults. Mattresses in that room were too firm. 2 pull out sofas in the living room were good. Overall, very happy with the stay.

Only checking off the basics for a weekend stay
Gold King Chalet is a great location to downtown, amenities are sufficient however, lacked comfortability/ hospitality. No hand soaps in bathroom, ice machine broken, beds/ sofas are completely uncomfortable, no outside lighting available for parking after dark. And various signs permitted us from using some of the advertised amenities (i.e fire pit, hot tub etc) and max capacity is not as advertised. This location can comfortably house 5-6 adults at max. These small changes would have made this a great stay.

Great stay close to the mountain
A group of 6 adults stayed at this property and it had everything we needed for a week of skiing. The house was well kept, had all toiletries and appliances we needed. It is very close to the town of Breckenridge, we drove down many times and is about a 5 minute drive. While it says ski in/out that can be difficult. Skiing out you can walk a few hundred feet and go down a hill to an access slope but we didn't try to ski on or walk up the hill to get back. Taking the free shuttle at he end of the street or parking at the bottom of Beaver lift was very easy to do. It has a cabin feel as well, some might say dated but it was perfect for our ski trip!

Nice place to stay in Breck.
Very nice house. It's a true ski/ snowboard out. We didn't try the ski in as friends wanted to ride right into town to hit the different Apres ski bars! Hot tub is a nice place to relax. There was a lot of snow piled up on decks that made them unusable but that's not the fault of the owner, gotta have snow to ride. Cars can't fit in garage with a luggage rack but can without it on. Kitchen has many utensils, cookware, and spices. Living area/ dining area is big and gets hot if you use the fireplace. Overall a great place to stay.

Could shine again (with some polishing)
Overall nice residence with nice features but VRBOing has taken it's toll on this lovely home. We agree with other reviewers who comment on the carpet stains, decor pieces that have seen better days, etc. I would comment on the lack of dresser in the master bedroom so we had to live out of our suitcases. Armoire in master bedroom has tv inside but doors prevent you from lying in bed to watch the tv. DVD player is broken and missing cables. There's a small computer monitor onsite with super old hookups that should go away. Kitchen utensils are cheap quality. Tiny kitchen garbage can was provided; if we were a family of 8 it would have overfilled the first meal. We felt like we had splurged to stay in a nice place in Breckenridge, but upon departure, we saw it's true colors. With some attention to upkeep this place could shine once again.

Great Location, Amenities, and Breck Access Options!
Our group of 7 adults stayed here for our annual ski vacation. The house and location were better than anything we could have imagined. The house was clean, organized, and provided everything necessary for a great trip. The ski in/out trail allowed us to quickly reach the base of Peak 9 without having to worry about driving or parking. The "ski in" part is more challenging unless you are able to do some of the more advanced runs on the mountain; but the free shuttle was a great alternative at the end of the day that drops you off right outside the property. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook big family meals for your group. The hot tub was well maintained and was the perfect way to relax after a full day at the mountain. Multiple options for transit - ski in/out trail, free shuttle, ample car parking - make this property a great place to get to to/from Breck quickly. Small touches were very welcome - several humidifiers in the rooms, provided toiletries, multiple coffee makers, etc. Our group really enjoyed the property, it was perfect for our trip!

Nice location and house but challenging access
We enjoyed the house and amenities. Access to the house and communication with the property managers was great. Driveway is steep and inaccessible without 4WD. Large vehicles with ski racks will not fit inside the garage and the driveway in front of the garage is narrow with a step that makes it very easy to fall off the side with one set of wheels. Parking for 4 vehicles is not likely unless they are all small. We booked this location for ski in ski out but there was no clear instructions how to do so and even if there was, the trail we needed was closed and not groomed. Would have been nice to know that ahead of our stay as this was an inconvenience.
