About this property

Welcome to the Jungalow! A 1152 s.f. 4 bedroom, 1 bath cabin right on the beautiful Ocoee River. Come enjoy all the Cherokee National Forest has to offer whether that is hiking, fishing, tubing, kayaking, or swimming. The house is located in quiet Benton, TN, which is near both Cleveland and Chattanooga, TN. The Hiwassee river, also only a short 10-minute drive away, is great for fishing or tubing.

The Jungalow sits on stilts overlooking the Ocoee River with a large deck where you can enjoy your morning coffee and the sunrise, watching the water go by. Later in the day, river stairs will take you right into the water where you can cool off or enjoy some fishing (bass, bluegill, sunfish) or walk over to the neighborhood boat ramp to scope out the tubing access. Gather around the firepit with cooking grill at night with your favorite beverage and watch the sunset behind the house! Sit and relax at the brand new outdoor covered bar and barbeque shed! The Jungalow has a large 1-acre yard and provides plenty of space for lawn games. We provide four sit-on-top kayaks (two single person kayaks, one double seater, one kid-sized) and a variety of tubes for guests to enjoy, along with a volleyball net for volleyball or badminton, as well as cornhole boards. There are two traditional bedrooms and two open-air bedroom loft spaces. The Master has a king-sized bed, the second bedroom has two twin beds and the lofts each have a full-sized bed. The bathroom has a combination tub/shower as well as a washer and dryer for guest use. All beds have Dreamcloud hybrid mattresses. The couch is large enough for someone to sleep on if desired, though it is not a sleeper sofa.

Basic soaps/detergents are provided.
Coffee and a coffee grinder are provided!

The house has Starlink wifi internet and a smart TV that can be used for streaming.

IMPORTANT:
No smoking is allowed on this property.
No parties or events of any kind are allowed at this residence. MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY 6 PEOPLE. No additional guests other than those listed on your rental request are allowed on the property.

No pets/animals are allowed. We do not make exceptions to this rule to ensure that the house can be used by all people regardless of allergies.

Please note the house is unfortunately NOT handicap-accessible. Also, one of the lofts can only be accessed by a library ladder and this may limit who can use it!

We do have OUTDOOR security cameras to protect the house, its belongings, and our guests and to ensure that occupancy rules are not violated. These cameras are motion-activated and are on 24/7. They provide views of both entrances, the back yard and the roadway.

Great place to stay

We stayed here as we have family on the same street. Quiet street but so close to all kinds of hiking and outdoor activities. House was great with lots to do outside, just not this time of year. Make sure you set nest and hold temp correctly as we woke up to frigid mornings.

Great family get away on the river with a fantastic yard

The host is a great communicator. The house is fantastic for a family getaway. Very clean and new with a cabin feel. The large living room opens to a large backyard deck. The kids had tons of space to run around in play in the large yard. The backyard includes a fire pit (with lots of firewood), a covered bar / eating area, and a nice grill. Very nice to have a private stairway access to the Ocoee right in the backyard. (Kayak and fishing poles are provided too!) High quality washer and dryer. The house was very well stocked with cleaning supplies, condiments & spices, and coffee. Several whitewater rafting companies within 15 minute drive. Beautiful country and the Ocoee River was so much fun to raft! My teenage boys already want to plan a return trip.

Annual Birthday Trip

The property was amazing. This was our second time staying at the Junglow and we plan to return more. The water access and location was great. We enjoyed the Ocoee and the Hiawassee while there. The property had everything we needed and more. Including a fully stocked kitchen. Thank you more allowing us to stay.

Summer River Getaway

My husband and I spend a lot of time outdoors. We’ve been wanting to explore the Ocoee and Parksville Lake for several years. We found this little gem on Vrbo, and decided to book based on the amenities. We knew we wanted to float the lower Ocoee and this location had the kayaks and tubes we needed. This saved us from having to pack a lot of extra junk just to get out of town for a few nights. The house was cozy and clean, and the location was perfect. We spent both days on the river and lake, with a short hike in between. Relaxing on the back porch in the evenings, listening to the river flow, was the perfect end to each adventure. Exactly what we needed! We will likely come back again, next time with our children.

Great Time

Our second time was just as wonderful as the first. There is so much to enjoy here. Floating on the Ocoee and playing cornhole in the back yard were just two of our favorites. Beautiful views and amazing amenities. My kids learned how to kayak this trip!!

Jungalow Whitewater Getaway

Weekend after Memorial Day 2024: I stayed at the Jungalow for 2 nights with 3 of my best friends. We had an absolutely wonderful experience. The Jungalow is such a cool, unique, special place. The amenities are out of this world. Everything was well-stocked, clean, and easy to understand. There were spices, coffee, creamer, dishes, pots, pans, plenty of utencils. We really appreciated the nice binder with details about the property, appliances, the area, and the safety notes about the water level. Location is only about 15 minutes from NOC Ocoee Outpost which was perfect for us. We played cornhole, we grilled out both nights, and we played in the Lower Ocoee right off the back steps. Absolutely loved this property - great job to Maggie for the excellent communication. Loved it - hope to come back! Highly recommend.

Oasis in Tennessee

From the time we walked in the door we were beyond satisfied with the Jungalo. Our hosts had thought of every detail from the welcome sign to the coffee pods and creamer in the fridge. I thoroughly enjoyed the deck and all the outdoor amenities. My favorite thing was just sitting with a cup of coffee and listening to the river. Book your stay now. You won’t be disappointed.

Great Property in a Tranquil Setting!

We absolutely loved our stay! We had plenty of room to spread out for our family of five. The view of the river from the huge windows was gorgeous. Our kids and us fell in love with the property immediately. We highly recommend this location and plan on coming back when we are in the area again.

Bad Experience with Property Manager

First, the property is well stocked and the cabin is very cute. My biggest issue with things and I typically never write reviews is my communication with the host. My son got sick and I cleaned it all up as well as washed the comforter twice. The host messaged me that she needed to charge me $150 for a stained comforter. First, this was a TWIN bed. Second, the duvet cover was not stained at all. Third, the inside comforter was what she claimed was stained but was a simple white inside comforter so in no world should that cost 150 and also could easily be bleached washed and sanitized in the wash and then covered again with the duvet cover. I told her I was happy to replace the comforter even given that fact. I found the most expensive comforter on amazon and that was less than 75 so I offered that amount. She refused to send me a receipt (she only sent me a pricey "cost" snapshot of a comforter for 139, but not a receipt). She then charged my card $150 when I was trying to come to some type of agreement. I am a person who believes in doing right by people so this who experience felt very off putting as well as shady business. There is ZERO reason why a twin comforter underneath a duvet should cost 150$ and I find that to be just poor business and character.

River Relaxation!

This property was perfect, on river, close to many attractions, food, liquor store, etc. The host had amazing condiments, pots, pans, spare this and that. The grounds were kept immaculate, and plenty of floats, kayaks, life jackets, fishing rods, etc. The fire pit was amazing, and the property lights gave off a festive feeling. Would recommend this place to anyone, hope to return sometime. It was a 16 hour road trip for us one way. Also the Morris Winery was only 10 minutes away, beautiful.

Labor Day Weekend

We spent a long weekend in the area to hike and raft. We could not have asked for a better location. The house was extremely clean and well appointed. We spent one day hiking and another rafting. In the evenings we were able to relax listening to the water behind us. It was absolute perfect. If we come back to the area we will definitely book here again.

Just What We Needed

The cabin exceeded our expectations. Spotlessly clean, well furnished even down to snack, kayaks and tubes to float the river. We enjoyed the outside deck area and had a fire in the fire pit. It was a great weekend of relaxing and enjoying the outdoors in a very comfortable cabin and location.

Great River Property

We came as a blended family for my niece's softball tournament. We had three kids, ages 3 yrs, 8 yrs, & 14 yrs old and they all LOVED this property. My husband and father-in-law also came and both enjoyed all the things this awesome cabin has to offer. The house was spotless and had everything we needed and more. The back deck is great to sit and listen to the river while relaxing. The kids enjoyed playing cornhole all weekend. Maggie was great at sending detailed information prior to our stay and we didn't have any issues while we were there. Nothing negative to say about this place... It's GREAT!!!

Perfect for the family!

The river access was perfect for playing in the water. The tubes and rafts were enjoyed and appreciated. We were just a 20 minute drive to the hiwassee trout fishing holes. Thank you for the wonderful memories. ❤️❤️

Maggie, the owner/manager, is a native Texan who has lived in eastern Tennessee for the past 6 years and loves spending time outdoors in the woods and near water. She and her partner, Jack, purchased and renovated the Jungalow in 2021.

Why they chose this property

We love spending time at the Jungalow and think the Ocoee is one of the nicest rivers nearby. We have put lots of sweat into the house to make it a comfortable and enjoyable place to unplug from the rest of the world!

What makes this property unique

Right on the beautiful Ocoee river! Endless fishing, tubing, kayaking and swimming fun! Keep an eye out for all the birds and wildlife, especially the occasional bald eagle flying down the river!
