Private Newly Built Woman Lake Cabin with Detached Barn Style Bunk House
Mark Twain once wrote that somethings are so difficult to explain, they must be experienced! Privacy and quiet rarely found on a major, pristine lake. Three sides of the property are either protected by a National Forest or the vast expansive lake shore of Women Lake. The other side is a buffer woods to the only other cabin close. Hear the quiet? My brother and I spent two years lovingly remodeling this generational property, adding modern conveniences while still preserving. Beamed screened porch and entry ceilings, expansive deck, two story great room with skip sawn pine with beam ceiling, reading loft with beautiful lake views, two story stone gas fireplace, and converted the curved Amish built barn into an upper deck bunkhouse with full bath including walk in shower. There are three rooms in the main cabin (2 queens and 1 king) with a queen pull out couch. The bunk room has three twin over queen bunks, smart TV’s, wifi. The pictures tell the rest... would sleep 17. We plan to share our treasure a few times each year. Read the reviews as they come as we so welcome them from those who appreciate this beauty!

Our family loved this property. We really enjoyed the screened porch. We appreciated the swimming raft, Paddle board & kayaks & that they sprayed for mosquitoes. Nice job of landscaping around the house & plenty of parking.
Our family of 6 (my husband, 2 kids and me, plus my dad and sister) thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cabin. Despite cool weather, we loved the fishing, spending time in the screened in porch, hanging out in the loft (the kids!), games at the big table, cooking delicious food, and boating and paddle-boarding on the lake (we rented a pontoon, which was also great!). Can't wait to head back next summer!
Third summer we have stayed here for a week. Love the place. The bunkhouse fits our 6 teenage boys to a T! Plenty to do with the lake right there. We hope to come back again some day! There are 12 of us and there is plenty of room for eating, watching a movie or playing games.😀
WE REALLY ENJOYED OUR STAY AT THE CABIN AND BUNK HOUSE. VERY NICE HOUSE AND LOVED THE SECLUSION. THE LAKE WAS BEAUTIFUL HAD LOTS OF FUN SWIMMING. SCREENED IN PORCH WAS GREAT. HAD A GREAT TIME. THANK YOU
This is the second time we have stayed at this property, and it was even better than the first time. The location on the lake is wonderful (don't have to go into the big water to enjoy the lake or get into town), and it has everything you need for a fun, relaxing vacation. Next best thing to owning a lake home!
This property was everything we could ask for- space for everyone. The water toys were appreciated. The kitchen area was very nice. Boat dock was so nice- the littles fished there and caught some. The bedroom spaces were awesome.
The property was great, the house was as advertised, the grandchildren loved staying in the bunkhouse. The yard was good sized, fire pit area was great for evening fires and smores, there was plenty of space for parking the vehicles and boat trailers. Woman Lake is a beautiful lake with plenty of loons and eagles to watch, great for swimming and tubing, and the fishing wasn't bad either. I would recomend this property.
We stayed with a multigenerational group and it was a wonderful set up for our needs. The screen porch was the most used room in the house! We also appreciated being able to use the AC as needed on very hot days. The swim raft was great for our older kids, but there wasn't a great place for the 3 year old to swim. The 2 fridges were very appreciated as well. It was a wonderful stay and we would highly recommend this property!
The cabin was beautiful and suited our family of 11 well. There were enough beds for everyone. It is in a beautiful setting. The lawn down to the lake is steeper than in the photographs. The screened in porch was a favorite place for us to hang out. The fire pit was nice and easy to use. There were plenty of chairs for our family to use on the property. During our stay there was a storm that caused the electricity to go out for 2 days. We contacted the host and let him know there had been a storm. We informed him that the electricity went out and that there were tree limbs and branches down. They let the electric company know. We asked about a generator and it was stated that they might be able to get one from a family member. We never heard anything again regarding a generator. We had to find our own generator so that we wouldn't lose 2 refrigerators full of food. Because the electricity went out, we also had to haul water up from the lake in order to use toilets. There were no pails to use. We fully understand that weather and unforeseen conditions cannot be controlled by anyone, but unfortunately our stay was impacted by everything that we had to handle ourselves with little help from the host.
Our family of 13 had a terrific time in this beautiful lake home. The property is much more than the photos convey! Dan was very responsive to all my questions before and during our stay. Our family had eight adults and five small children ranging in age from 2 - 5. The bunk house was great for my son's family allowing his little ones a separate place to nap in the afternoons. It has a full bath for easy showering and a washer and dryer. There are nice shelves in the bunk room for storing personal belongings and the air conditioning system is very effective. The main house has two bedrooms in the lower level and one bedroom on the main level, all with ample storage space. There are bathrooms with showers on both levels making shower time efficient. There is a great family room in the lower level with a comfortable pull-out bed, a television and a table and chairs for activities. This space was also away from the main activity and worked nicely as a napping area for our daughter's children as well as a work space for one of my sons when he had to take care of work responsibilities during the week. The main living space is wonderful! The kitchen/dining/living area is an open space with vaulted ceilings and fantastic light and air flow. There is a loft above the main sitting area which the kids loved for reading stories and chilling out. The stone fireplace is a beautiful centerpiece to the living space. The kitchen is well-stocked with all of the essentials and many extras. Staples are provided (sugar, flour, cooking oil/spray, basic spices, etc.) and the appliances are wonderful. The refrigerator/freezer was huge and worked well for our large group.
Our favorite part of the house was the fabulous deck and screened-in porch! We ate almost all of our meals outside in this large space and spent a good portion of our our day there doing a variety of activities. There is an additional deck outside the master bedroom, and this was delightful for reading and enjoying quiet time in the morning and afternoon.
A paddleboat and two kayaks were a lot of fun and helpful for shuttling little people back and forth to the lily pad. The young ones enjoyed catching pan-fish off the dock. The DNR land surrounding the house is full of wildlife. The long driveway to a nearby pond made a great morning walk/bike ride. There is a great firepit for making music, marshmallows and memories. This is a fantastic property! I highly recommend it to families of all ages!!
The cabin and bunkhouse were both beautiful. We attended our daughter’s wedding across the lake so didn’t spend very much time at the cabin. We did enjoy the screen porch in the evenings. Gorgeous view of the lake!
The house and property were great. Our favorite room in the entire house was the screened in porch. Rain or sun it was the perfect place to spend time. We knew that fishing was challenging on the lake so much of the time we fished other smaller lakes in the area and did well. We will book again.
We had a great time during our stay in Longville with minimal issues.
Pros: The cabin was beautiful and certainly met our needs. The property was lovely. Someone else mentioned that the incline from the lake was steeper than they thought it would be. I thought that the incline was pretty minimal and most people would do just fine with it. If you have elderly family members staying, it could be a bit difficult for them, but would likey be able to still make the trek down with a pit stop or two. I appreciated being able to see the dock and swimming area from the cabin so the adults could keep an eye on the kids while they fished, swam, and kayaked. The kids caught many sunfish off the dock. Plenty of room for everyone between the house and bunkhouse. The turtle races were fun for all! We had great weather and enjoyed many hours out on the screened in porch. The king mattress and pillows were very comfortable.
Cons: The bathroom rugs were wet and sandy when we arrived. They should have been washed and dried between guests. There was not enough paper towels or toilet paper. When I asked the owner he said they could not supply an "unlimited amount" of these. There were 11 of us staying here and we were left with only 2 rolls of paper towels for a week and 2 rolls of toilet paper in each bathroom. We had to run to town for more of these items. We were also left with only 3 hand towels for a week. A family member of the owners', graciously dropped off more hand towels for us midway through our stay. The full mattresses were not comfortable. While the kids caught plenty of sunfish off the dock, we had a hard time finding the fish on the lake despite going out at all times of the day and using various bait.
Overall we had a nice time with only a few minor issues with which the owner was responsive.
Thank you for sharing your lake home!
We had our annual family gathering at this property. The accommodations were super good with large open group spaces and comfortable sleeping spaces for all 14 of us. The large screened porch and adjoining deck was comfortable and had a perfect view of the lake and yard. Bag toss, kayaking, table games, fishing and the nearby casino kept everyone happily occupied. This is the second time we have stayed at one of this host’s properties. He is responsive, considerate and made our stay even more special. Thanks!!
We spent a week at this property for a family vacation - 6 kids, 6 adults. Plenty of beds, dishes, towels, etc. and lots of room for everyone. We especially loved the screened-in porch. The kids had a blast on the lake either fishing from the dock or kayaking or swimming to the lily pad. We also enjoyed Longville and attended the turtle races. The vacation was a total hit with everyone and we would love to go back sometime. 🥰
We enjoyed a nice getaway for the kids spring break. It was good to get away from the city for the time and build some memorable memories with the family.
The property was very clean and fit all our needs. The location was easy to get to yet secluded. The only feedback I have was the listing stated there was a bunkhouse with a bathroom but the bathroom was closed for the winter.
Overall we were very happy with our stay and hope to stay again.
