About this property

Highland Lake Retreat

Highland Lake Retreat for the whole family. Lakefront on a crystal clear lake, one of a few best kept secrets in the Lakes Region of NH. A much loved family home shared for over 4 generations. A mix of old and new in this oversized home with amazing, private water frontage, and, if you choose, walk 150 yards to the sandy, shared beach!

In the main house you will find beds to sleep 11 people AND there is a detached little bunkhouse/garage that will sleep 3 more (The bunkhouse is only available Mid May through Mid October).

A lot of home to relax in! Walk through the front door of the main house into the dining room, and kitchen off the dining room. The dining room opens up to the main living room with a huge, comfy couch, TV, a wonderful stone fireplace, and a few day beds for those afternoon naps, or to keep the little ones close by.

There is a main level bedroom, as well, with 2 Twin beds. The most amazing feature is the 3 season porch with ample seating and a table for dining, with windows showcasing the Highland Lake waterfront that is yours for your stay.

The Second floor of the main house has 2 full bathrooms, one of them holds your washer and dryer, and 3 bedrooms (King bed, Queen bed, and Full bed). But there is more, in the loft, up the spiral staircase, there you will find 2 Twin beds.

A few steps away from the main house front door is a bunkhouse/garage. Here you will find the first floor bathroom with step in shower. This is the perfect location to run to from the waterfront - and you wont traipse in any sand to the main house. Upstairs in this little bungalow, you will find a Queen bed and a Twin bed. (Available mid-May through mid-October)

Private waterfrontage for you as well as a shared sandy beach just a few hundred yards away. Enjoy the Fire pit, hammock by the water, lawn and beach chairs, 3 season - screened in porch, and several small, non motorized boating options for your enjoyment. Check with a Break Away agent for better details.

This is a dog friendly home! There is a pet agreement that will need to be signed prior to arrival and a pet fee will be added to your reservation as well.

A great vacation spot

Great location and plenty of room for our large family. We enjoyed the clean water, as well as kayaking, paddle boarding, ping pong and seeing the loons. Everyone had a wonderful time, especially with the perfect weather we had. We hope we can return in 2024.

beautiful lake house

We stayed in the house for Christmas, along with two other families, had a great time. Ample room for everyone and the view can’t be beat. I will definitely come back. A few things to call out: 1. wi-fi speed is pretty bad, so working from the house may not be feasible, 2. we received a note to bring our own linen a few days before the trip, extra charge will made otherwise, 3. some of household items are not well stocked, e.g. we had buy paper tissues. Hope that helps! Overall we had a great experience!

Old Fashion Gathering-Beautiful Location

Loved our view, house was good would stay again. A few things, we packed and paid for our 2 check bags with sheets and towels because we were told and confirmed they were not provided, for us extra hassle and expense. Owners scheduled lawn care; mowing and fertilizer without asking us when would be a good time and the service company came right onto the property without telling us what was going on. The bunkhouse has no heat, be prepared, was frigid for our young couple that wanted privacy. Lastly, if you have elderly family, you will have to use stairs for a bathroom, both are upstairs in main house as well as the more comfortable sleeping areas. It is a great location, just be prepared!

We had a great time!

What a lovely home with great location and views! We had 4 generations of family together at the house and there was something available for everyone. Neighbors were friendly, too. Would definitely recommend. Hope to visit again soon...
