Enchanted Garden Cottage à la Beatrix Potter. Escape to a simpler time and enjoy garden life. Design by Isabelle Greene, landscape designer, and granddaughter of Henry Greene (of Greene & Greene Architects.) Full kitchen, easy parking, spacious Jack and Jill bathroom with a large curved bathtub. Modern amenities include skylights, fast wifi, a 48” TV with Roku, full laundry, a Subzero refrigerator, and bedroom AC. Walk to nature hiking, or coffee and croissants. Enjoy the California coastal breezes of sunny Santa Barbara in this unique open living Craftsman Style Cottage...with a modern twist!
Set in a quiet residential neighborhood on a tree lined street, walk through the woods by the creek to the Museum of Natural History, then on the Mission and downtown Santa Barbara. Or stroll to a nature walk at Stevens Park or Rocky Nook Park, each about 1/2 mile. You can also walk to coffee at the Handlebar Café for a latte and amazing pastries, or Trader Joe’s for your favorite groceries.
Gaze at the majestic mountains, or turn your attention to the fairy-like pond with lilies and tiny waterfalls. You might hear Freddy the Frog croaking or catch a glimpse of Peter Rabbit scurrying about the strawberries. The charming sustainable garden has over 500 species of unusual plant species, including 37 types of fruits and many other vegetables and flowers. Get acquainted with your inner farmer! (Or just relax – the gardeners come once a week...)
After your bedtime story (either from a book in the library - or the large modern TV with Roku) you’ll sleep like a baby in the comfortable foam queen bed. As you drift away, you might hear soft mission bells or the soothing sound of a distant train. There’s also a clever pull-out double bed in the library, which serves as a cozy second bedroom area or reading area, and a comfy couch if you need more space. (Please note the second bedroom/library has silk curtains instead of doors, good for close friends or family.)
Parking is a cinch!
Pick your own organic fruit and vegetables. Fresh off the vine, tastes so fine!
Modern amenities include skylights, fast wifi, a 48” TV with Roku, full laundry, BBQ, a hibachi, two outdoor dining areas, and bedroom AC. There's an old fashioned pull-out ironing board with an antique iron...or a modern plug in version! Garden lights switch on with a remote.
There's also a great vintage stereo system. I love the built in speakers in all the rooms and the CD collection! (However, it is hard to find CDs if they are put back in the wrong place. If you aren’t sure where you got a CD, please don’t put it back. Just leave it out and I’ll do it.)
