About this property

Entire Property at Blisswood Resort

This stunning woodland retreat beckons you to cast your cares aside and enjoy an unhurried escape, a gracious gathering of family and friends, or a romantic getaway. You’ll find breathtaking views of both woods and water. Crafted in 1929 of local timber milled on-site and hand-forged iron hardware—all created by Mr. Bliss himself. The accommodations are rustic and refined. Each Blisswood accommodation features pieces of the original furniture that welcomed guests in days gone by.
Blisswood was created as a retreat from daily life and a place to forge happy memories while enjoying the great outdoors. Each hand-hewn accommodation is a historic treasure, crafted from wood milled on the property. Take a step back to an era where craftsmanship mattered more, and time less, enjoying the unique styling of each cabin. From the moment you enter, unlatching the original handcrafted hardware, you’ll explore and discover Blisswood’s unique beauty, both indoors and out.
Set on 8 acres amidst woods and water, historic Blisswood Resort continues to welcome guests, extending care and comfort to all who grace its door. The Lodge and 2 cabins on the property, along with the grounds, chapel and game room directly across the road is the perfect place for your next family gathering!

Spectacular Stay

Our family reunion was a hit staying at the Blisswood Resort. We used the lodge as well as the 3 cottages. Dana and Andy made us feel so welcome and the accommodations were fabulous/top notch/5 star! We wanted for nothing!! Everything imaginable was right there for us. All the little "homey" touches that Dana and Andy have thought of were appreciated and certainly enjoyed. We'll be recommending Blisswood to other family and friends!

Harbor Springs has been our home for a decade, and like everyone who has visited this special place, Blisswood has drawn us in since our first drive along the Tunnel of Trees.

We are the type of people who like to try different things in life and we are energized by change and taking on new adventures! So, after many years of running Knaebe’s Apple Farm (our family’s fabulous apple orchard in Rogers City), we decided to pass that torch and redefine ourselves in a new endeavor - Blisswood!

We are beyond excited to have the opportunity to care for this historic property and welcome guests, friends and family to enjoy this awe-inspiring location.

Welcome to Blisswood! We can’t wait to see you here!
~Andy, Dana and Carson Hefele

Why they chose this property

There is nothing quite like Blisswood. It's a unique and historic property that has been meticulously maintained and well preserved. It's a special place for large family gatherings, far from the hustle and bustle of daily life and tucked into a wooded bluff along Lake Michigan's shoreline. It's an incredible place where families have been returning to for more than 60 years to experience the beauty and create treasured memories.
