This was perfect for a solo person or a couple! Small but compact! Lovely neighbourhood! I was really only in the accommodation to sleep/get ready for events so it was perfect for my needs! Bed was comfy! Everything was clean! Don’t forget your hairdryer if you need one! Definitely will look this place up again if I’m back in the area!
St. James is a lovely neighborhood and is a short drive to Oak Beach. There was 1 minor item that came up for us: The definition of Efficiency was accurate. We didn’t expect a kitchen sink to be a shared bathroom sink. I don’t put this on the Host.
Liked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities, communication
Would stay again. Studio was clean. Bed was very comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked. Didn’t get time in the pool as I stayed on the beach most days. Surrounding property is very beautiful as a few deer and rabbits.
The condo was small and well maintained. The location was convenient for Southport and Oak Island excursions. Not a lot of space for prepping or storing food but a small fridge and microwave were provided. I could hear everything happening through the door of the adjoining part of the condo. That was the only drawback. I would definitely stay here again.
Awesome place for couples. Neighborhood is very quiet. Impeccably clean. Plenty of amenities in the unit, comfy bed, small fridge, etc. Close to everything you would need beach, food, ice cream 😋, etc. We love this place and definitely will be back.
Left two days in because of the horrible mothball smell. Searched everywhere for the source. Used boxes of baking soda, febreeze, air freshener, a fan, and an ope window, but nothing helped. The smell triggered a migraine so we left. Never booking there again!!!
Property is as pictured and met our needs for a long weekend. We were hoping for a "less expensive" get away, this trip. The extra fees ended up costing us double the listed fee per night. I don't understand why a second person costs extra, when maximum people for the rental is 2. I have never had to buy renter's insurance for a VRBO. I didn't realize this until toward the end of reservation process that this is required. Also, towels are provided but not wash clothes. Bring your own.
Arrived to Villa/Lockout. This is a room off of the main villa. So, this room off of the Villa has its own entry with a bed, couch, fridge microwave etc.. like a hotel. The walls are paper thin. The other renter of the villa must have been sick? All we heard the 3 nights was coughing, sneezing, blowing his nose like a horn. We could hear all of it as I am sure he could hear us. The first use of shower we discovered the bathtub was not clean to our standards. The bottom of tub was cleaned but I cleaned soap scum off the entire one inch above the bottom of tub, removed the scum from front portion of tub, left the aft of the tub for the cleaners to care for. The towels that were left for us to use
(One each) had a large clump of dark hair attached to towel with lint. That was nasty. The pool that was near our villa was closed and it was green. Beach was our option which was fine… we love the beach. We reached out in ref to where to park. We learned from owner that we had to pay for parking. You scan the QR code and pay, when we left the beach that day from the ample parking places we discovered my Cadillac XT5 SUV 2021 was hit on drivers side back bumper and caused trim on left drivers side to pop out. We enjoyed our meals at Blueberry grill, Eggs up. Casteluccis was “meh”. Southport shopping was good. We will not be back to this place but the beach was great. Villa needs a good cleaning.
The neighborhood the property is located in is massive! It took over 10 minutes just to get out, making everything we went too a 20-25 min drive minimum. But property was clean, had everything we needed. Pictures made it look bigger than it was. Biggest complaint/concern is security. There is a door in the unit that is connected to a neighboring unit. It locked from my side, but the lock seem to not have the door locked on the way, so the air vacuum, would open the door. We ended using our suite cases as a door stop to keep it shut. If the locking mechanism is addressed this would be a good unit to stay again at.

Fine
It served the purpose for what we intended. Bed was comfortable. Shower was adequate. Air conditioning was excellent. Couch was comfortable. Dinnerware and microwave were adequate. Proximity to the beach was perfect. Overall a decent place to stay. Definitely would stay there again.
We rented this unit for my brother to use while visiting us in St. James. The condo was well furnished and clean. The owners are very responsive and easy to work with. Would rent again.
FI’ll lived in St James. Stayed at the Villas before
Stayed in the lockout studio of main condo.
A huge drawback was the linens and towels were old and terrible. Easily remedied by new 100% cotton towels and sheets. Blankets, bedspread and bathroom rug were not laundered prior to our check in. Yuck. Polyester sheets and thread bare towels with holes were horrible. Coffee machine was available but no supplies to make coffee were provided. All grocery and convenient stores are well removed from the town of St James. Providing coffee, creamers and sweeteners would go a long way to making the stay comfortable and enjoyable. Walls are very thin and main condo unit was very noisy with Pitbull right next door. Unit was clean and ground floor location.
We enjoyed our stay! It was great for the price. Plus my Mother is elderly, and being on the first floor is huge. You can't find that in a lot of places and most do not have elevators. We were very appreciative of that. Plus the communication from the property manager was very great and informative.
Nice little place for 1-2 people, could use wi-fi, cable! The only thing I did not like is the door to main renter actually opens from VRBO rental side (was looking for closet and accidentally opened it, was so surprised that it went into main renter apartment that I shut it quickly! Hoped main renter could not enter VRBO rental but left nothing of value just in case). This should be fixed…..for the sake of both renters!!
Wonderful secure area, enjoyed the salt water pool by condo, nice drive in from main gate, communication with owner was excellent, beaches are 15-20 minutes away so as long as you don't mind the drive this property would be ideal. Enjoyed our stay. Thank you Laurie.
It was good, trying to enter the first time took a little while but other than that it was clean and a good area.

Laurie and Larry Wetzel we are in the construction business in Pitsburgh PA. Our summers our busy so we can not use our place at St. James during that time frame.
Why they chose this property
My husband and I bought these property so we could relax in the winter away from the Pittsburgh cold. This is a great area to meet people and play golf.
What makes this property unique
There is shopping plus restaurants of all kinds in the town of Southport. Its takes about 20 minutes to get there. There is a Lowes grocery store at the corner of Southport Supply Rd and Oak Island access Rd. Oak island has lots of good restaurants and shopping areas. its about a 15 minute drive. a place to eat in St. James is Beacon 315 in the marina shope. About a 5 minute car ride.
