Check in was seamless- neighborhood was super cute and lots of fun bars nearby. There’s a grocery and liquor store under 5 mins away so once we were settled in, it was great to be able to run and grab essentials close by. Property was a bit outdated (loved the charm though) and water pressure in shower was weak, however, we were gone visiting family so using it for sleeping and lounging was perfect. VERY dog friendly- there is a door that goes straight into the fenced in backyard. Plenty of off street parking- felt safe and secure. 8 mins from the arch- family was in East St. Louis and 20-25 mins to get there- you hop right on the highway. Easy communication with hosts.
Will definitely stay again when we are back!
We were going to be downtown for multiple events and wanted a place to relax for in between locations. The host let us pick our door code to make it easy and everything in the home was as expected from the listing. Ended up meeting the host on checkout day and they were great people.
Absolutely loved this place. Very unique in a nice area and within walking distance of some fun bars/restaurants. We felt very at home and the owner is so nice and responds quickly!
This place was perfect for us. We brought our dog and the fenced in backyard was perfect for her! The location was awesome. Short drive to the baseball stadium and downtown. Host is super responsive with any questions we had throughout our stay!
Very much enjoyed our stay at Robert’s place! Robert was very quick to respond to any questions we had! Convenient location, and our Maltipoo really enjoyed the fenced in back yard!
The best thing about our stay was the location. The home was neat and clean and roomy for the three of us. We were able to visit the market a very short distance away. The street is full of old homes that are wonderful to see. There is only on street parking.
Both my husband and myself loved the fenced in yard. It was so convenient for our dog. We found the bed in the primary very comfortable, ,(you have to like soft beds). The location was perfect for us, just 6 miles down Gravois to Afton, and hanging out in Soulard. Plus we just hopped on the interstate to go home to Wisconsin.

Good location, host responds very promptly!! House itself needs a lot of work!! Very old, rickety and neglected. Pricey for the condition of the property but served the purpose.
Overall this spot was great! Communication was such and efficient, getting to set our own door code before arrival! Space is roomie with some old build charm. My only comment is that we got in late and then light switches were a bit hard to find, one they weren't in obvious places, two they were painted the same color as the wall. Not enough to not be a 5 star stay for me, bit maybe new switch plates that aren't painted and/or floor in the dark tape?
Check in was a breeze and the host was awesome and very welcoming. His communication was great and very prompt, and he got us what we needed when requested without any issues. The property is an older home and was perfect for our family. The extra half bath was very convenient. Kids loved the Keurig and coffee that came with the rental. If you want to stay in a state of the art home, don't stay here. If you want a home in a nice neighborhood that is close to downtown St. Louis, but is low cost, then this is a place for you. We would stay again.

Ceiling leaks
Not much good to say. The place is old and in need of desperate repairs. Kitchen ceiling leaked every day from upper unit. Prior damage indicates this has been an issue for a long time. Yard was full of dog feces and unusable. Ceilings and walls were cracked, floors were a tripping hazard and extra rollaway mattress was ripped and stained. Honestly this place is not habitable and should be removed from platform.
The good: The location was excellent to get to all the attractions we wanted to hit- City Museum, the Arch, the beautiful Central Library, and the zoo. Having a half bath was really helpful for getting ready in the morning, and rare in this kind of dwelling. The yard was great for our dog and we were grateful there were no extra fees to have her. The neighborhood was quiet and we felt comfortable there. The not-so-good: The inside of the place is in rough shape, and there is a smell of what we could only call (unused) scented cat litter. It has clung to us and our belongings and is still there on some items (including our daughter's hair, despite multiple showers) almost a week later. The cabinet under the kitchen sink was fairly moldy. The fridge froze a lot of our food that we brought, even being set on the warmest setting. There were a few rough boards with nails on the way to the back bedroom and we had to caution our kiddos not to get snagged on them. We're thankful for a last-minute place that allowed us to have a very nice time in town at an affordable price. A few updates/fixes might make it a bit more accommodating.
Advertised sleeps 6, it has 2 beds I had 2 grown sons. Assuming the couch made a bed. Needed the extra, roll away in closet, rusted, mice been in it, broken, no linens, 4 adults - 2 nights 5 towels, 3 wash cloths. Property run down cracked, floors wood popped up in places. Sheet rock not finished, cracks, holes, just not what I anticipated. We stay the first night got up and packed up left next morning did not stay the 2nd night. Landlord never apologized or any comment after we advised. I should have called VRBO, take pictures and report immediately to VRBO. This is the first time I have had this happen to us.
I chose this rental because dogs were allowed, not limited by size, and the back yard was fenced in. The location was also close to most of the friends I would be seeing and places I would be going.
I received a check in email from the owner, Robert Dawes. He told me that he had forgotten the door code and to use the last four digits of my phone number. When I arrived at the house, those numbers didn't work. I called and he told me to hit the * key after the four numbers. That worked.
The interior of the house, in my opinion, is as close to a dump as I've ever stayed in. Dirty, water stained walls. Cracked and patched plaster primarily on all the ceilings, but walls as well. Broken, uneven floor boards between kitchen and back bedroom. Back storm door bottom panel was banged up and not entirely in the frame. Light switches painted same color as the walls and difficult to find. Mold along door edges of refrigerator. Bathroom vanity door broken and poorly repaired. Bathroom poorly lit. Lots of extension cords for refrigerator and table lamps.
I slept in the main bedroom that had a king sized bed. The mattress wasn't just soft, it was worn out. The mattress was concave. I didn't move to the back bedroom because I'd already slept in one bed and I didn't want the host thinking there was more than one person in the house.
I was also a bit nervous because there was one lock on both the back and front door. No deadbolts or slide bolts available.
