Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience. When we arrived, there were candles lit and it smelled amazing! I was gone most of the day until just before we left for dinner. I noticed mold in the master shower and bathtub. Upon our return from dinner there was an awful smell in the kitchen, mildew smell in the lower LR and ANTS in the room my children were sleeping in. The next morning there were ants in the bed they should have been able to sleep in. I contacted VRbO support after arriving back to the house and worked w them, as well as the owner. I was promised a refund. We were authorized IN WRITING to depart the next morning and to expect a refund later that day. Well, that’s been 9 days ago… NO REFUND and the owner has started ignoring all of my communication for nearly a week now. So, I’m out 1500.00 plus the hotel I had to pay for and eating all meals out.
There were ants in various places in the house, a rancid smell in the kitchen, mold in the master shower and tub, moldy window ledges, the counter tops were dirty and had food on them, all the baseboards were dusty and dirty. This is unacceptable when you are charging a cleaning fee and hundreds per night.
It is now May 3, the owner continues to ignore me and customer service not standing behind the refund that was put in writing.
They are saying the refund I received for the one night we had reserved just in case we came in a night early - the owner had encouraged me to secure that night and she would adjust the price if we could not come in that day.
This has been a horrible experience with both the owner and VRBO which put a huge damper on our family Easter getaway to visit our son in the military. We had to find a hotel and eat meals out. Now I am out the promised refund.
The house has potential if it was cleaned and didn’t smell!
