Close to town, the college and a beautiful serene surrounding

Outstanding privacy given its close proximity to downtown and UVA wise this beautiful ranch, 3 BR, 2 Bath house is all your large family needs for a wonderful stay in the lush Virginia countryside. Large living room for gatherings, piano, TV, internet for entertainment. A comfortable front deck and covered porch provide outdoor dinning opportunities or just time to view and relax among the deer, meditation pond and peaceful views of an endless meadow without close neighbors. As per popular request we have added a large BBQ, an outside firepit, basketball goal with balls and other outdoor activities including corn hole and a fantastic tree swing.

We have a three night minimum stay but would possibly consider two nights to previous renters or under special circumstances. Its a large property to be having folks only staying two nights. Please reach out if you would like to review.

We can support special events as long as the overnight guest count is not exceeded. Special events will require a bit more cleaning fee and a few basic rules to follow, please reach out to discuss.

Perfect Location, Wonderful Space

We were at this home for a week, and the size of the property allowed us to spread out and have plenty of room for everyone. The deer in the yard, the amazing star gazing, and the mountain bluebirds made this a mountain top retreat really special. This was our second trip to the property, and we were so relieved it was available for our trip!

Wonderful Stay in Wise!

We had a wonderful time in Wise. The house was exactly how it was described. There were a lot of little touches that made it feel like we were staying with family- extra blankets on the bed, trial size toiletries, and things in the kitchen you might have forgotten. It was a great stay!

Peaceful Country

The house was great. Dated, as other reviews say, but absolutely spotless. Everything was just as listed and very comfortable. The back yard area was wonderful. So nice to come in from work and relax out back while watching deer and bunnies play! Would definitely recommend and would stay again if in the area. The host was responsive and always made sure all was good!

Wonderfully Convenient, Beautifully Situated

This property is a wonderful throwback to the home I grew up in. While it is not updated with new colors and such, it is clean, warm and in very good shape. The owner and their people could not have been more accommodating. You are close to everything, yet given the acreage, somewhat secluded. I will be back as much as they will have me.

Great time & Great location

We were in Wise to watch my daughter play softball but Mother Nature cancelled our games but we did get to see a UVA Wise basketball game which was awesome. House is a mile from the school so super convenient. The house was clean, and we were quite impressed with all the 'extras' that are not typically part of a rental house. It was a chilly weekend but we loved looking out over the beautiful lot. It was a great stay and we will certainly book again !

Let’s go back in time!

Our trip was quick to visit family but this house had a lot of room for everyone. It felt like we went back to the 60’s; from the furniture and lights to the antiques and kitchen appliances. The house was clean and all mattresses had a waterproof cover. It was very cozy and quiet and the land was beautiful. The only 4 star was because the house was a little musty and a good airwick plug-in or a couple candles would fix that right up. We enjoyed our stay and will be back!

Nostalgic country home

This property was amazing for our stay. The seclusion is nice, yard is big and we also experienced wildlife. We love the covered porch. We spent the evenings playing board games and just talking around the fireplace in the living room. The only reason I did not give this home for stars is because the mattresses and all of the bedrooms were really firm. So much so that I had an achy back each morning. lots of extras are included by the owner such as linens, pots and pans, and there was even some food in the pantry (a few little things). Close to the city of Wise and other surrounding attractions. Will definitely stay again!

It was mostly nice. We had a hard time adjusting the heat. But after I figured out how to turn the fan on automatic it was okay. The bed in the master bedroom was terrible. Everyone likes sleep number bed nowadays. I never slept a wink while I was there. The refrigerator had been written up before we got there and still had not been fixed. It freezes everything you put in it. Unacceptable. The yard was partially mowed. Very high grass where you stepped out of the car. One rail on the porch deck was very loose and dangerous to lean against. And let's not forget the spider on the bed in the bedroom and all of the spider webs hanging from the eaves around the house. Terminix might be a good idea. I have a prosthetic leg and a handicap shower would come in very handy. I actually felt that my $ would have been better spent at the Best Western. That's where we plan to stay next year.

Quick trip to visit family!

This is our second time visiting this house and we just love everything about it! It’s spacious and very close to family. This house stays very warm and offers plenty of blankets which I love! We will be back and when we do I will be booking this house every time!

We are fighting to keep this property in the family - it has been for over 125 years part of a local family farm. It was once an apple orchard and many old trees still line the area. We do not want to sell the property after our folks passed so in order to keep it in the family as well as visit local friends and family when we can we turned it into a short term rental. We are not trying to get rich here or take business away from local hotels or others, we are offering something completely different and unique and original. Once you see the location you will understand. please help us pay the bills, taxes and insurance for this property so we can keep it in the family by booking a long weekend in the Virginia mountains

Why they chose this property

This house is our family house we grew up in, we cherish the location and area and want to keep the property so a short term rental might allow us to do that

What makes this property unique

No traffic, no pollution, no noise, gigantic yard, tons of parking, great for events, secluded private space, wildlife including many deer, rabbits, even bob cat with too many local birds to count. At one time we counted over a dozen Cardinals in one tree.
