This is our second time staying at the cabins by the river and was just as great as the first time! We had a great time taking the canoe out on the river and just enjoying the outdoors.
This was our second stay but first to bring the kids. We love staying on the water and enjoyed our day of kayaking! Wish the rain didn’t run us out, would have loved to stay another day!
Very serene, the property is amazing. The home is very accommodating, everything one would need for a quiet getaway. Comfy & Clean. The dogs and their rocks are a plus, added fun to our stay. Make sure you bring everything you would want, nearest store and restaurant is an hour away.
Well appointed cabin in the woods with a river below. Plenty of room to unload our side by sides. Friendly owners and resident dogs who love to play fetch. We would definitely return!
This is one of those properties you don’t want to leave a good review on because then word will get out how amazing it is. The cabin was well equipped with everything we needed. I appreciated the night lights and fans (I like the noise). The river was perfect for swimming, kayaking, tadpole hunting, and shell finding. Two local dogs greeted us daily and loved playing fetch with rocks. The homeowner was extremely responsive and helpful. I could keep going. Honestly it’s a great location. You can still drive to Broken Bow, several state parks, and the Talimena Scenic Biway. It’s beautiful enough to just sit and be content at too.
We loved this cabin! My boys were outside all day exploring the property. My kids loved the dogs! It was such a beautiful property! We loved being on the river and playing in the water. I love that they had canoes and kayaks for us to use as well! That was definitely a bonus! The cabin was clean and the perfect size for all of us. We will definitely rent this cabin again!
This secluded property met every need of our expectations! We fished, we swam & canoed! Kiddos had a blast, and us adults unwinded and relaxed to the fullest! Owner was very prompt in answering any questions we had and made sure we had everything we needed. Added bonus a pair of Border Collies (Bleu & Buddy) that love to swim, play and fetch! Definitely going back!!
The cabin was exactly what we needed for a long weekend with family out in the wilderness. Two bedrooms with plenty of space for an air mattress in the living/dining area. Spectacular view from the porch. Hilltop firepit overlooking the river with plenty of space to roam around and explore the property. Kayaks, canoes, and tubes were provided by the host for river activities. The host and his family are extremely friendly and helpful with all communication and basic needs for the cabin. We will be back for another stay!
If you're looking for a cabin in the woods, some water fun on the river, and an evening by the camp fire, then this is the place for you!
This is a beautiful place, so quiet and peaceful. The house is perfect-very clean and decorated so stylish but comfortable. The kitchen was nice, but awkward without oven or stovetop( as stated in house description ) , so always good to be prepared for that. Also a little concerned at the amount of tools, miscellaneous items in kitchen cabinets that might have been better stored elsewhere. The owners dogs were very sweet , loved playing but didn’t jump on you-loved to fetch!! This is s great couples retreat, shop on your way because it is remote, but well worth your drive.
A perfect weekend getaway! Our two small boys were in heaven. We fished in the ponds and river, floated the river in kayaks and sat by the fire pit at night to treat ourselves to s’mores. The cabin is simple yet super charming. It had everything we needed. I had zero cell service here but they do provide WiFi. You won’t need it though as the outdoor living here is absolutely breathtaking and well kept with so much to keep you busy. There are two beautiful friendly dogs on property to keep you company and feel safe. Our kids loved playing ball with them! We did venture into Hochatown (a quick and beautiful 40 min drive) to eat one night which is well worth it! We will be back again!
We loved the cabin and overall setting. It was clean and ready for us. Plenty of blankets and good HVAC, with small portable heaters in the bedrooms(though, not needed). No problems with utilities, even through we were warned of a small problem with the water while on our way, it was resolved before we got there. Be prepared as you’re in the mountains and any cable/WiFi is spotty in the evening due to the mountain location and the use of satellite. However, we were ok with this and was even expected given the setting and goal of the trip. We also lost cellular within 5 min from the cabin, so be mindful for map apps and comms while getting there, but we were fine once on WiFi. A great setting to play games, have camp fires, s’more’s, etc…have family time. Communication with the owner was excellent throughout.
We loved the dogs Buddy and Bleu, especially our boys. We’ve never seen dogs that could catch a small football or soccer ball, or brought you rocks to throw so they could retrieve! They were great watch dogs as well. An amazing time for our boys, exploring and playing with their new buddies. We missed the dogs immediately…and we were trying to think how we could get ours to be more like them! 😂 One morning we saw some deer near the edge of the property. The dogs let them go about their business. 😁 We didn’t have luck fishing, it was just too cold in the river, but I imagine it is great in the spring/summer. We will definitely be back!
Wow, such a beautiful and well maintained property! Enjoyed the scenery, kayaking, fishing the river, visiting Hochatown, Buddy and Blue, cooking on the griddle and just decompressing. Thank you for sharing your cabin and we will be back.
It was a beautiful place only down fall is owners house is right beside cabin would of liked more privacy but Owners are very nice!! cabin was beautiful inside and out and the dogs was great that was on property!! You have a beautiful view down by the river
This property was a great experience for our entire family. The boys loved playing with the dogs and we took a quick day trip to Hochatown for lunch. Beautiful property. Cabin had everything we needed. The host was so nice and we had a wonderful stay.
Super quiet and peaceful place. Beautiful location right next to the river and with views of the mountain.
Cabin was very comfy and beds were actually very comfortable!
We really enjoyed the stay in this place. Everything was clean and perfect. I must say the owner was so nice and communicative to help us and made our stay easy and wonderful. You will also see the two cute dogs that will be around you and can enjoy playing with them if you like. Overall, I highly recommend this place.
Overall, the cabin was ok. It was still being cleaned when we arrived, but I had no issue with that.
Reasons I won't book again:
1. There is another house on the property right next door. It is just out of view in the photos. It's is closer to the cabin than my neighbor is to me at home in south Dallas.
2. The dogs on the property are OBSESSIVE. They were on our porch frequently and every time we walked outside, they were following us. My 6 year old was running with a stick and one of the dogs chased them and jumped on them, poking them in the eye with his nose. My kid was trying to skip rocks in the river and the dogs kept running in front of them chasing the rock they were throwing. The owner said we could tell the dogs to just go away, but that did not work.
3. The person cleaning the cabin said her children often roam down by the cabin and river. They did venture down two days and on one day, one of them was shoving the others off an underground storm shelter and down a hill. It was extremely distracting since they were only about 50 feet from where we were on the porch. Three of them were also in close proximity to us teasing the dogs when we were skipping rocks in the river on a different day.
Other things that should be noted but didn't effect my rating:
-There are no window coverings in the living spaces, so when it's dark, you can't see out and anyone can see in.
-In addition to no oven, there is also no stove. If you need to use a pan of any kind, you have to use the grill outside, which might be uncomfortable in colder months.
-The second bedroom (with 2 beds) has no closet. With both beds out, the room is just big enough to have your suitcase open and stand.
-There is no bathtub, only a shower. My kid has a shower aversion, so they got a washcloth wipe down instead.
-The walls in the cabin are unsanded wood, so do not touch it. My 6 year old leaned against it while brushing his teeth and got a tiny splinter.
