Hide-away chalet in the Swiss mountains with sauna
The Josihaus stands on a sunny south-facing slope in the canton of Valais 1367m / asl in Martisberg, one of the smallest municipalities of Switzerland with 19 residents. The Binn Valley Nature Park and UNESCO Aletsch Glacier are next door. The Aletsch Arena ski area is easily accessible and has hiking trails located right outside the door. It can be in Josihaus but also work well, there is WiFi. In summer there is a classical music festival in the nearby village Ernen. The Josihaus is very quiet.

The five of us celebrated a week's holiday in Josihau in the village of Martisberg.
I can only say that we really enjoyed it. The house is clean, spacious, fully equipped and the old house is nicely decorated.
Thomas is an excellent host and - if needed - very helpful.
Martisberg is a wonderful starting point for various mountain walks. Backpack full of sandwiches and drinks and go! Definitely worth repeating!
It was a wonderful stay that we spent at the Josihaus, we found that the chalet is super well equipped (oven, hob, beds, sofa, plaid, candles, crockery, fireplace, etc.) we lacked nothing. It is a clean and beautiful chalet.
The small negative point of the room are the duvets, we would have preferred a duvet for 2 people, it was really nothing, maybe only a tip.
Thomas explained the instructions to us very well before returning and before leaving the chalet, responds quickly!
Everything went very well, we were able to go sledding and snowshoeing not far away. We would love to come back and stay at the Josihaus again.
Great property in quiet spot 5 -10 minutes from ski slopes
This was our second trip to this property and it was still great. Situated on the mountainside , in a small quiet cluster of properties, its only 5-10 minute drive to 2 gondolas accessing the ski slopes. The skiing was great. The property is very clean and comfortable. We hired both the house and apartment below, which has an indoor adjoining staircase. The children loved the bedrooms in the eaves. We mostly self catered and had everything that we needed. Loved lighting a fire for the soapstone heating system- it was always warm and cosy. A great holiday.
The house is cosy and clean. Everything is there. The only thing we missed a bit is a washing machine, but that was clear in advance.
During our stay, Thomas, the owner was there. He's very friendly and helpful.
From the pictures, it isn't very clear how close the neighbouring houses are. Two of them are quite close, one across the street and one to the left. Since these two houses weren't occupied during our stay, it wasn;t a big deal for us.
All and all, we had a week in the Josihaus that we will never forget. Thank you Thomas!

Perfect Swiss chalet
We absolutely loved this rental! Tucked away in a little town in the Valais region, the views of the Alps were amazing, the people friendly, and the location great for day trips around the entire region. The narrow, winding road to get to the chalet was part of its charm for us. Miles of well marked walking paths were literally right outside our front door. The space was comfortable and welcoming. The kitchen well equipped for making meals at home after a day of exploring. The only sounds at night were the distant cow bells and the church bells ringing in the morning-- we slept soundly and comfortably every night. This cozy chalet was the highlight of our stay in Switzerland!
