Well signposted hiking and biking trails characterize the Twistetal. In any case, you should pay a visit to the baroque and residential castle in Bad Arolsen, which is also the birthplace of the Dutch Queen Emma. Likewise, the district town of Korbach will be on your list of places to visit. You should definitely explore this only Hanseatic town in Hesse on foot. Protected by the two mighty towers of the Gothic hall churches, there is much to experience and enjoy in the well-preserved old town of Korbach. Medieval fortifications, stone warehouses, well-preserved half-timbered houses (German Half-Timbered House Route) and the town hall of the city, built as early as 1377, are witnesses of tradition, power and former wealth.
