Welcome to our recently remodeled ranch home, a unique historical gem with a story that stretches back to the late 1800s. Nestled on this property is a remarkable Historical Marker commemorating its role as a crucial stop on the stagecoach line heading West during that era. The original Ranch house, built by the Wurzbach family, is now the main house in this listing, steeped in history and charm.

**Historical Marker and Ranch History:** As you explore the property, take a moment to appreciate the Historical Marker that stands as a testament to the rich history of this ranch. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, this very land served as a vital waypoint for pioneers heading westward on the stagecoach line. The original Wurzbach family Ranch house has been meticulously preserved and renovated, providing you with a unique opportunity to step back in time while enjoying modern comforts.

**Living Area:** Stepping inside, you'll be captivated by the grandeur of the living area, complete with a magnificent fireplace and a spacious dining table accommodating up to 10 people. This space is designed for gatherings, relaxation, and even storytelling about the ranch's rich past.

Additional cots are available for accommodating extra guests, ensuring everyone has a comfortable place to lay their head.

**Bathrooms:** Three of the bathrooms feature double sinks and ample space for changing, promising convenience and comfort for our guests.

**Scenic Views:** The ranch home is perfectly positioned next to the pool, offering breathtaking vistas of the surrounding countryside. It's an ideal spot to relax, unwind, and soak in the natural beauty of the area, while also reminiscing about the history that unfolded here.

**Pool Access:** Guests enjoy not only stunning views but also direct access to the pool. While it's often possible to have the pool all to yourself, it's worth noting that, occasionally, you may share the pool area with other guests. This shared space creates opportunities for friendly interactions and shared experiences.

**Property Owners:** Keep in mind that this is a working ranch, and the owner's family resides in a house situated at the back of the property. You might come across them while enjoying the outdoor spaces, and they are always happy to share stories about the ranch's legacy.

**Capacity:** Our property comfortably accommodates up to 20 guests, making it an excellent choice for larger groups and families. Just right for our family get together!

Our 4 children and their families joined us for a few days. There was room for all of us to stay comfortably. The hosts even had toys and games for all ages, even the babies! We enjoyed the nice pool and outdoor areas. Our stay include a little steel back in time, with the lovely older part of the house. The kitchen/great room area with comfortable and well-appointed and comfortable.

Perfect for our family of 8 adults, 2 kids under 8 years

We enjoyed our stay! I love old houses and this one was so fun to stay in a few days. Everyone enjoyed the pool that we stayed in too long and several of us were sun burned. Daisy the ranch dog is so sweet. She would hang around when we sat outside. She is a true country dog. My little pom actually chased the chickens. They were bigger than she is!!! If you stay here, you must remember it is a 1906 house and a working ranch. That’s what makes it so unique! We had a great time! You can also drive into Castroville for great BBQ at Blu Lacey BBQ. Phenomenal is all I can say about their food!!

Family Reunion

Our family had a wonderful reunion at Cardinal Pointe Ranch. The 100 year old ranch house is beautiful and is filled with antiques and collectibles. It was very comfortable except for an issue with the upstairs A/C. However, this was fixed as quickly as possible. The property is beautiful, and we enjoyed it very much. The owners were responsive to questions and comments. Although the ranch is close to the city, it felt like we were out it the country. Lovely place! Thank you, Walter!

90th B-day Celebration

This property is exactly what we were looking for to host a special family gathering in San Antonio. The charm and uniqueness of the historic house is so much better than staying in hotel rooms and having the event in a conference center. The free range chickens, cows and especially Daisy and Gus (friendly cow dogs on property) made it feel warm and welcoming and especially fun for the kids. Also, the 1925 thrasher out in the pasture made my dad smile as it was much like what he remembered working with as a young boy on the farm.

A bit of Texas history

The pool was refreshing with the temperatures and heat index so high. The upstairs air conditioner went out the first night and we emailed Walter at 11 pm and he had it working by 12:45 am. Enjoyed the queit country setting complete with ducks, dog, cat, and a few deer.

Nice, but not as hoped for.

The house is old, over 100 years old, but in decent shape. It does lean in some areas. The house was not in very clean condition. Lot's of insects and the pool was swarming with bee's while the kids were trying to swim. One kid was stung on the first day. We didn't realize there would be other animals, dogs, cat, and chickens on the property as we brought our two small dogs with us. This wasn't an issue, just not sure of what to expect with the unexpected encounters. The family living on the property and the workers were nice. The rooms were comfortable. While there was a washer and dryer, it is not located within the house.

Christmas escapees

We normally gather with 60 family members but this year our immediate family of 10 & 2 littles ran away instead of buying a bunch of presents. My 90 yr old Mamaw snuck away with us. The property was peaceful and beautiful. Owners live on site and were so available and helpful. The home was clean and beautiful with Christmas trees and decor. EverytHing we needed and comfortable clean beds. Only problem we had was Mamaw getting into the house from the car. There are steps at back door with no hand rails and walk to front door was little far for her but she managed. The beds upstairs are lower to ground. Down stairs are high and first night was rough because she cant go upstairs but owner found us a homemade step that helped night 2 & 3 after I spoke to him about the issue. Only other problem was getting in front gate. Code to padlock is very hard to see and manipulate at night.. 3 of us left for church Christmas Eve and they locked the gate on us while we were out. Thankfully my son was at the house and came out to help open lock. We loved the outdoor fireplace but indoor fire place by the pool which a few of us took a polar plunge. 2 nice shower upstairs, tub/shower downstairs. The views are beautiful and sitting in living room accommodated our large group. However chairs in dining room are little rough. But the ones in 2 other dining areas were very nice. So we borrowed them for our time and returned on exiting. The listing had hot tub listed.when we booked.. NO HOT TUB!

Lack of privacy, rude, and overpriced !!!

When we arrived the owner came out and met us like we anticipated however he NEVER left, he was in/out of the house durng our stay. This was my daughters sweet 16 and he was disrupting the party as well as my guest. He even went as far as standing outside the gate of the property picking and choosing who could park ON the property and who had to HIKE it to the house! The kitchen had limited supplies to cook which confused me because I was clear we were hosting an event, he also came early the next morning before we checked out he began demanding an additional fundd stating he counted my guest and I had to pay per head because I went "over a certain limit" they didnt spend the night, they didnt stay past cerfew, they literally were just there for the festivities. Save your money OR go elsewhere if you want to ENJOY your stay.

Lack of Privacy

This was the second time we stayed at a ranch in San Antonio and was excited that it was a historical home. We were disappointed in the lack of privacy we had there. The listing was misleading when it read it was a working ranch and people would be around the area. People are coming in and out of the house we were residing at with no notice to us. We anticipated the kitchen to be fully stocked to cook for at least 10-12 people. The kitchen had very minimal cooking supplies. The living area and kitchen had carpet which was very filthy due to the amount of traffic use it had in the past. The only good part of the stay was the rooms were magnificent! Each from was decorated and was very comfortable. So if you just need a place to lay your head this is it but if you are looking for a peaceful getaway, this might not be the place for you.

We had a bachelorette party here, originally was to stay in another house by the host but was moved here upon arrival. A heads up would have been nice. Also, this house had the owners and other people in an out throughout the day into the evening hours. The latest was 10:30 one night. Makes for a weary sleep when people you don’t know are still coming into the house late at night, especially with a group of women, it almost made us pack up and leave. The pool was great. If you want a quiet place without the hustle and bustle of city life, this may be for you. But renovations and repairs were still being performed while we were there. You could tell this was a last minute move. We had booked this a year in advance, and would have preferred a refund versus being moved into this house unknowingly but it is what it is. Really cool artifacts in the house, as the hosts moved here from Africa. Really nice people. Just wasn’t what we were expecting for a bachelorette. Also, I’ll note that the outdoor space, pool and grill area are community spaces.
