I had the most wonderful and relaxing time at Dolphin Heads in Mackay. I loved my little home away from home in my ocean front unit.

Location was good, access to beach was physically difficult
Maintenance wise the fridge bottom door rail was missng which was an inconvenience for us as we were staying seven days. The entrance door was very heavy to open. Overall it was a lovely place to be for seven days. We would return.
The room was very comfortable and has a perfect view being on the beach front. There was plenty of tea/coffee etc and ample toilet paper. BYO milk. We made use of the outdoor verandah and were also lucky to have a small dining table indoors as the weather was wet at times.
The bed was comfortable and large.
There is an on-site bar and restaurant with reasonable prices. If you are seeking some quiet time with a sea breeze I would highly recommend.
However, this is our third time staying at this resort and on this visit we were disappointed that you are required to use a fob to enter and exit the pool area and they have removed nearly all of the chairs from around the pool. This took away from the relaxed feeling we had previously experienced and the atmosphere around the pool non existent.
Great view; great location; 50m to ocean; semi-private, decent unit. This was our first holiday in years and we really needed peace and quiet to get away from noisy neighbours and their dogs. Unfortunately, the unit walls are paper thin and you can hear EVERYTHING the neighbours say and do, which works both ways! There were a couple of very loud children whose parents weren't teaching them respect, consideration and awareness of others at appropriate times and places. Also, the resort was getting air-conditioning and solar panels installed/replaced so every day of our stay meant tradies were drilling and calling out, phones were buzzing ... even driving their vehicles back and forth outside our room on the manicured lawn, ocean-side. Sure, work needs to be done and there's no good time but I wasn't warned. If I had been warned of renovations I probably would have booked differently. Nevertheless, a change is almost as good as a rest. We've stayed there before and we'll stay there again.
