The ArtHouse is a wonderful little gem. Everywhere, there are little details to discover. The kitchen was well stocked with coffee and tea; the bathrooms had thoughtful supplies like shampoo and body wash.
The neighborhood is quaint and great for dog walks. It’s also so close to anything you might need.
The owners are super communicative and helpful. Can’t wait to come back!
This was a charming house with artistic details at every turn. The kitchen was equipped with everything that one could need. We had our dogs and there was even a basket of toys that one of our dogs, Sammie, greatly appreciated. The bed was cozy. Even the landscape was well-appointed.
The house was within walking distance of antique shopping, coffee and ice cream, and a wonderful Italian restaurant Cafe Farina's.
I certainly would return to this home in the future.
Stayed here recently and had a lovely visit. The house is about a block away from a lovely street with some shops and restaurants. The decor is wonderful, and the hosts were responsive quickly when we had a minor issue with one of the door locks. The neighborhood was a bit variable, some houses around are in pretty poor shape, but others seemed very nice like this one. Had no concerns really. There are tenants upstairs, but they were mostly quiet aside from some normal floor noises from above. Great stay, quick drive to beaches, the park, and even not a long trip to Chicago. None of the beaches were overcrowded.
We loved the house. Every thing you need for a wonderful vacation. Close to everything. The weather was wonderful. Loved the porch and yard for our dog. The beaches are beautiful. Thank you so much for a wonderful visit. We will be back. Debbie
My spouse, mother, 2 dogs & I had the pleasure of staying here for a second time. This trip was on the occasion of my mom's 75th birthday. I can't imagine better accommodations for the trip. All the amenities were there. As an added bonus, the magnolia trees were in full bloom in the lovely side yard. Our dogs love it here and the neighborhood is a nice & quiet place for walking them. Love to shop & dine at the local businesses on Franklin St. Also, the great food at the Polish Peasant. All a very short walk away.
We spent 3 days here as a fall getaway and loved it so much we didn’t want to leave. This artist inspired home was full of charm, color and personality. It was spotlessly clean, comfortable, dog friendly, and within walking distance to shops and restaurants. We especially loved the screened porch and the convenient, well landscaped fenced area outside. Everything was well thought through with much attention to detail. The kitchen was very well equipped - had everything needed and more to create great meals. There are even art supplies for painting and drawing. Best getaway ever!
We had a great time staying at this home!
It’s artsy, clean, super cute but also spacious enough for family.
Great location - easy access to downtown shops and the outlet mall.
The host provided everything we needed and more - utensils/condiments/cooking supplies/toiletries…

Overall a fantastic experience!
To say this property is magnificent is an understatement.
It's beautiful, well furnished and comfortable, walking distance to the beach and shops, and the private yard is perfect to relax, especially if you bring your furbaby.
The screened in porch is great, and watching some of the people walking by was entertaining.
The large beds are comfortable, and all rooms are air conditioned.
During our week stay, we cooked a few meals inside, and we found literally every supply and utensil for cooking already there and in nice condition.
This is true for the bath supplies as well..shampoos, hair conditioners, even Q-tips and feminine needs.
We highly recommend staying here, and looking forward to our next visit.
The house was very eclectic and we loved it. The location was great! We walked to a wonderful polish restaurant, the Polish Peasant. We rode our bikes to Lake Michigan. Very close to the Indiana Dunes National Park. We would definitely stay there again.
This is such a cool house for a small group. Great layout, comfortable furnishings, and well-stocked (and organized) kitchen. Owner communication is great. The neighborhood is hit-or-miss; lots of blight and you will hear traffic noise since the house faces a busy through street, but this quiets considerably at night. Nice, spacious yard for a dog or two. Be aware: the house has a tenant on the upper level whose dog barks often and often for long periods of time (for example, every morning between 8 AM and 10 AM). This got our dog, normally not a barker, to bark back which quickly became annoying. Nevertheless, we spent much time out of the house enjoying the surrounding area, from Lake Michigan to Elkhart (the Hall of Heroes museum is a must-see for comic book and superhero fans).
We had a wonderful time at the ArtHouse! What a beautiful home with new things to see everywhere you look! We brought in the New Year with family and had a fantastic time. Just 2 blocks from the shops in Franklin Street and Leeds Public House that was delicious! Thank you for letting us stay!
We stayed here with our 2 dogs. It was so great! The building, the furnishings, the yard--everything exceeded our expectations. The kitchen was so well stocked. Beds were so comfortable. Really enjoyed watching the leaves fall from the front porch. Loved the neighborhood. (We love old homes and we could see so much potential for restoration.) It's only a 1 block walk to the downtown shops. 3ish blocks to the outlet mall. We walked to Lee's Public House-delicious and to the draw bridge and beach. Would definitely stay here again!
Beautiful home. Good location. Had a very enjoyable time!
Stayed for a month, and enjoyed every minute. Beautiful home in a good location. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Enjoyed having coffee on the front porch, and our dog enjoyed exploring the yard. The reading nook was another favorite feature. Lisa and John are wonderful and attentive hosts!😊
We were late checking in because the house was not ready, but the owner was very generous and bought our dinner! Overall the house is delightful and looks like a museum, there are so many wonderful things to look at and features of this beautiful home! The grandchildren got up and painted every morning because there were art supplies in the home! It was very close to the beach and there are several good restaurants nearby. The house was great and I highly recommend it!
My daughters and I enjoyed the most wonderful stay at the ArtHouse! The accommodations were impeccable. Each room was decorated beautifully with a variety of style in artwork. The kitchen was amply supplied with everything we needed and more. The beds were very comfortable, too. We especially enjoyed the screened-in front porch in the evenings. You can tell that the owners care about their property and do everything to ensure a comfortable and delightful stay! We hope to return in the future.
We so enjoyed our stay at the art house. The home was comfortable and well equipped. The location was near many of the things we wanted to do and there were plenty of spaces for us to spread out. We would definitely rent again!
The property was clean, very well equipped, and as described. The National Park is very interesting especially for “birders”. Al’s market was excellent and fairly priced given the times. Michigan City is OK.
We enjoyed our stay very much. They art is wonderful and I love the way the interior colours coordinate throughout the house. The front porch is a wonderful place to relax and paint. The kitchen had everything we needed. We slept very comfortably. The only thing that is a bit strange is the size of the sink in the main bathroom. We ended up splashing water on our feet a few times getting used to the size. The fenced in yard was perfect for our dogs. It’s a perfect distance to walk to anywhere on the main street or even the outlet mall. We came to see the dunes and it was about a 10 minute drive to get to the park. I highly recommend this home if you are staying in Michigan city
