Centre of the action and overlooking a gorgeous park

This apartment is wonderful for a week's stay in a beautiful arrondissement of Paris. The photos show exactly how roomy the living and bedroom spaces are, and also that both the kitchen and bathroom are small. But both kitchen and bathroom are brilliantly designed and work very well! Véronique was quick to respond, both during the booking and once we'd arrived. The apartment is so quiet you sometimes can't believe you are in the centre of vibrant Paris - also other residents are polite. This is good as the lift is small and will not be hurried! Great for luggage and when you've been to the market! Loved sitting in the living room after a full day of sightseeing, eating cheese and bread from the nearby market, and drinking wine while overlooking the Arènes de Lutéce opposite, as the trees slowly turned golden. Also just opposite is an entrance to Place Monge Metro which you can only use when you have a ticket - but very useful - other entrances with ticket machines only five minutes away. And Cardinal Lemoine Metro is only five minutes' walk away and on a different line so opens up options for travel.Thank you Véronique.

Great location, excellent apartment!

The location could not be better: walking distance to many of the major Veme arrondissement attractions, yet in a residential, not so touristy or noisy area. Many boulangeries, cafés, restaurants, bars and grocery stores nearby, and of course the Marché Monge, not to be missed. Métro stop Place Monge 50 metres from building entrance, very convenient (if you already have tickets--no ticket machine in that particular entrance). Apartment very comfortable, not at all small by Paris standards, except for the tiny bathroom. Nice, relaxing view of the Arenes de Lutece park across the street from living room window. On arrival, a bottle of red wine and chocolates were a nice welcome from Véronique. Check in was less than ideal, mostly because we arrived pretty late on a Saturday night, but Véronique was very accommodating and everything worked out well.

A Parisian home base!

As noted by others this apartment is in an excellent location and the owner is excellent and helpful. There's a comprehensive briefing folder, a range of pantry supplies and she even leaves chocolates and a bottle of wine to welcome you - thank you, Veronique! It was so good to have the independence and feel of being at home. The photos here are accurate. It's a traditional compact Paris apartment with some modern appliances but visitors from the New World especially should remember it's an older building with older-style plumbing and power. Without meaning to complain at all I note the VRBO posting lists among the amenities a microwave but in fact there isn't one. Nor is there an iron - but perhaps we shouldn't have been thinking of such things on holiday anyway! We certainly enjoyed our few days here.

Great Latin Quarter digs.

The apartment is very small, as expected for Paris, and a bit more worn out than the photos show. The bed was hard as a rock. However, it included every thing we needed and was very comfortable. The owner was very helpful. The neighborhood was perfect-close to shops, restaurants and metro stations. In all, an excellent Paris experience.

Amazing apartment!

The location of this apartment was amazing with the metro Monge right behind the house and the metro Cardinal Lemoine easily accessed down the street. And the walk to the river or Notre Dame or st Michel was very quick. Location! On top of that the apartment is really great. Big windows open to the park across the street and the light is amazing. Elevator works well. Very safe. Inside we loved the living room full of books and the bedroom was large. The sofa bed was comfortable and the kitchen was very complete. Check in was super easy. This is a fabulous place and a great value. Highly recommend.

Perfect Couples or Small Family Paris Pied a Terre

Ideally located for walking in the Paris core or using public transportation for farther destinations, this apartment packs a punch above it's petite size. Large windows out over a leafy street, a dining area perfect for up to 6 people, and a cozy bedroom were wonderful. Our 19 y.o. daughter reported that the pull-out couch/bed was perfectly comfortable and while we didn't cook in the efficiency kitchen, we used the frig and coffee maker for breakfast supplies. The shower is tiny and the entire bathroom squeezed into a nook half the size of one of ours, but it's doable with hooks everywhere for towels and hanging kits. The apartment is on the 4th floor, but there is a small elevator. We only used it to get our luggage up and down using the other trips to work of some of the calories we were drinking and eating! There is no air conditioning, but despite Paris being quite hot and humid, we were completely comfortable in the apartment with the windows open at night, which I was surprised by, honestly. The owner responded promptly to enquiries and left a bottle of wine as a welcoming gift for us (Thank you!). We easily got the key at a nearby bakery for checking in. Our only frustration? The WiFi key is incredibly long and for whatever reason we had difficulties getting access though with persistence, we finally connected. Having to type a lengthy ID multiple times was a bit annoying. This was a relatively minor glitch in an otherwise wonderful stay. I highly recommend the apartment for couples or families with kids able/willing to sleep on a pull-out.

the perfect Paris apartment

My mother and I had a wonderful stay at this beautiful flat, with its ideal location in the 5th. The owner kindly accommodated us with less than a day's notice after we had a bad experience with AirBnB. The apartment is clean, perfectly equipped and furnished, and in a quiet building. Both the bed and the fold-out couch are very comfortable. We hope to return!

Great location, Rue Mouff 3 minutes away, Metro just outside across Rue Navarre

Really enjoyed our stay here! Comfortable beds, super clean, coffee on hand (thank you Veronique!). The area is perfect: excellent boulangerie on the corner, boucherie next door, Carrefour 100 meters down Rue Monge, but buy at the individual shops if you can. Veronique responded to all messages immediately. Restaurant suggestions were great. Books everywhere (hope you don't mind if I perused a few of of the Existential classics). We will be staying here again next week and I'm hopeful that we'll be here again next year.

Our Stay at 59 Rue Monge June 5-19 2018

This is our second stay at this apartment, and it was as delightful as the first stay. The apartment is in an ideal location in the Latin Quarter. Easy walking distance to so many sights, including a Batobus station on the Seine. The 1 bedroom apartment is spacious for myself and my wife. We enjoy staying there when not sightseeing. Our host is gracious, helpful and reliable. We are very happy staying at 59 Rue Monge and we look forward to staying there again in the future.

charming, well located apartment

We had a wonderful time in this charming and comfortable apartment! The windows open out onto the lush green trees of Les Arenes de Luteces and that view was so relaxing and restorative after a day in the city. Rue Monge has everything we needed from morning pastries to small restaurants for a light evening meal. We have been to Paris many times and this has been our favorite rental. Thank you, Veronique! Happy Days in Apartment in 5th Arrondissement, 6-minute Walk to Rue Mouffetard

Véronique is a gracious host - from first communications during booking to clear instructions at our arrival (train strike prevented her from meeting us in person, however, her arrangements were thorough) to answering our questions promptly and sending her son to help with electronics to recommending G7 taxi services. Her apartment is tastefully decorated, clean, spacious for 2 people (however, narrow bathroom, see photo of WC - tiny sink and shower are to the left, shelves to the right). Vibrant neighborhood with Franprix and 2 other mini-markets, boulangeries/patiserries, fruit stores, seafood store, restaurants, shoe store, gift shops, the famous Rue Mouffetard 6-minute walk, open market, bus stops, Metro station, post office, hardware store, a store for rotisserie chicken. (going north) a 15-minute walk to Notre Dame, 18 minutes to Shakespeare and Company; 20 minutes to a Batobus stop (going west) 10-minute walk to Place du Panthéon; 16 minutes to Luxembourg Gardens (going east) 6-minutes to Jardin des Plantes. My pal speaks French and she had a blast going to Franglish and conducting research for her children's book series. I had delicious home-life (cooked 3 dinners) and work-life (turned that table into my desk). Thank goodness for elevator; my knee gave out by Day 4 going up and down 4 flights of stairs. If you can tolerate city-street noise (I slept in the living room on the most comfortable sofabed and experienced "complete quiet" only for 3 to 4 hours starting about 3:00AM most days) and thin walls between apartments (you will hear neighbor's movements through living room wall; perhaps at one point one apartment was split into two. See photo - the white door cannot be opened; the space under that door lets in sounds from adjacent apartment). The glass-squared door next to smaller sofa is the bedroom door. My pal said she was pleased with the bedroom with lots of closet space, a small desk, and big window that overlooks inner courtyard. To recap my review of Véronique's apartment - 5 stars for a lovely home (with 2 huge windows in the living room looking out onto lush green leaves) and 5 stars for her graciousness. Merci beaucoup!

Could not have been better.

My wife and I spent ten days in Veronique's apartment in mid-September. Just as good, or even better, than the pictures. The building is quiet and clean, and important: the bed is comfortable. But as lovely -- poetic even, the way those living room windows look out into the chestnut trees-- as the apartment is, the location is even better. A five minute walk to Jardin des Plantes, five minutes to Mouffetard, five minutes to the three-day-a-week Monge market, a short walk to the Seine. A fabulous (and friendly) boulangerie on one corner, a boucherie just outside the door, In a year or two, we're planning on spending at least a month or two in Paris. We can only hope Veronique's apartment is available. P.S. Don't ignore Le Mekong, a Vietnamese restaurant just around the corner on Rue Navarre, Cheap and delicious. Try the bo-bun-NEM. You won't be sorry.

Great location, lovely apartment.

This apartment is ideally located in a quiet neighborhood with access to good restaurants, grocers, and bakeries. You can walk to Notre Dame and Luxembourg Gardens. A Metro stop is across the street. The apartment is clean, bright and airy. We appreciated the lift after a long day of walking about in Paris. The owners are friendly and responsive.

Perfect

We loved this apartment from the moment we walked in. It has a homelike feel we didn't experience in any of our other rentals-- probaly because this is Veronique & Willem's home for part of the year. The apartment is amazingly private. Open the two huge windows in the living/dining room and you're looking out on the trees surrounding a 2000 year old Roman arena--no apartments across the street. Look down and you will see your nearest metro stop, built under the arena. With this and other windows in the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom, you get lots of light and fresh breezes. We stayed for 5 nights with our 15 year old. We gave her the bedroom and my husband & I took the sofa bed. Though the bedroom was quieter as it faces the courtyard instead of the street, we found the pullout bed extremely comfortable and I loved sleeping by the trees with the windows open. The kitchen is efficient and includes a washer/dryer and dishwasher. We cooked simple breakfasts and dinners ther with no problem. The bathroom is small as noted in other reviews, but is efficiently designed and was not a problem for us. A few doors down from the apartment is an excellent bakery with woderful baguette, pane chocolate, and tart tatin. Walk to the other corner and you will find a butcher with rotisserie chickens. We enjoyed les Jardin des Plantes- about 3 blocks away for the botanical gardens and zoo. This was the perfect launching spot for our Paris adventures-walking distance from many attractions, but not too busy. I highly recommend this rental.

Perfect apartment in ideal location

Vèronique's apartment was everything we wanted. We were a family of four with two teenage daughters and it suited us all. While cozy and tight, especially with the tiny bathroom, it was perfect and charmingly decorated. The neighborhood is not overwhelmed by tourists and couldn't be closer to metro or all the markets you could wish for. Would love to return!

Very happy with property

This apartment is in a great location on rue Monge, a short walk to rue Mouffetard but not on it. Two metro stops are only a block or so away, and one metro entrance is directly below the apartment. The building feels very safe, has a lovely green view of trees across the street, and even stayed cool on a 95 degree day. The owner's son was there to greet me even though the shuttle was quite late due to traffic. The owners were also responsive to any emails I sent. The only downsides were the free Wi-Fi stopped working, which meant I had to use my $10/day Travel Pass from Verizon, and the kitchen could do with some smaller pots and pans and better utensils. (I personally would have preferred a microwave instead of the tiny dishwasher.) Also, the apartment is quiet but it does face the street, which means that with that lovely view comes the noise of traffic. Also, I was there over Bastille Day when there was a concert at the Roman arena across the street, and this was very loud. However, the owners warned me about it and very decently offered to give me the night for free. I'm a middle-aged woman traveling alone, and this apartment had everything I needed.

Great location, cozy clean apartment

The best quality of the apartment is the location. On Rue Monge, the apartment is in a slightly more quiet neighborhood while still being a 10 minute walk to Notre Dame, the Luxembourg Gardens, and shopping on St. Germain. Inside the apartment was clean and as hoped. We had 3 and were very comfortable. No complaints, we had a great stay.
