Villa Serena is located in the prestigious Mission Highlands, just a six minute drive from the historic Sonoma Plaza. As you begin your ascent up the hill you will be transported into a world of quiet tranquility.

Our luxurious private residence, surrounded by majestic oaks, olive trees and Chinese maples offers secluded privacy with sweeping views of the Sonoma Valley and Mount Tamalpais.

Beautifully appointed, with impeccable attention to detail, our home is comfortable and soothing while aesthetically pleasing to the Soul. All rooms have cathedral high ceilings which fill with light while displaying stunning views of our natural gardens or the sprawling landscapes below.

Relax in the calming, inviting living room with its stone wood-burning fireplace or
dine in the glass solarium under the oaktrees on a moonlit night.

Indulge in a mid-morning brunch outside on the spacious deck with captivating views. Cook in our fully equipped kitchen, then take a break in the lovely sitting nook and sip on some wine.

Rest in our gorgeous master bedroom and admire the view, complete with a fully remodeled en-suite bathroom and soaking tub.

Read a good book in our cozy guest room with breathtaking views and get comfy in the luxurious bedding and linens. Pamper yourself in the newly remodeled guest bathroom with a soothing full streaming shower.

The open writer's den offers additional sleeping for two on the comfortable queen sleeper sofa with beautiful views out to the enchanting pool garden.

Beautiful property, lovely view and close to everything!

Our family of 4 (2 adult children) very much enjoyed our stay. Alana and Jo were very communicative, calling to see if we had any questions about the property before we arrived, always available during our stay and even treated us to a bottle of wine. Their messages were always warm and helpful. The house itself was clean, well stocked and just lovely. We enjoyed the different spaces available, including the large deck with views of wine country. The beds were comfortable and the showers had great water pressure. Perfect location; remote enough to provide privacy and close enough to Sonoma square to have access to shops, restaurants and groceries. Hope to stay here again soon; thank you, Alana and Jo, for a wonderful experience!

The Perfect Place for a Wine Country Trip

My fiancé, my friend, and I stayed here after four long days of hiking at Yosemite. To say this home is relaxing and tranquil is an understatement. The home is gorgeous and quiet, the views are immaculate, and Jo and Alana could not have been better hosts. It’s a 10 minute drive at most to downtown Sonoma and there is so much to do and see around the area. We definitely look forward to staying here again!

Relaxing Beautiful spot...

We rented the home for a wedding we were in town for. It was my adult son and his wife visiting from Austin. and my husband and I. I didn't want to leave the property to participate in the wedding celebrations because I loved the home so much! Relaxing, unbelievable views, tastefully decorated. Clean, and bright! Just so welcoming. I would stay here again absolutely!

A peaceful beauty

There was no question that this beautiful property was perfect for the celebration of my birthday with my family, but I didn’t expect the remarkable peacefulness as well. Absolutely Incredible

We couldn't get over ever aspect of this house, the property and the views! Although we went about the town shopping, we couldn't wait to get back and spend the evenings and mornings on the patio. It was the perfect house for a retreat that we didn't know we needed so badly. Thank you for the incredible kindness and sincerity in making sure we enjoyed every moment of our stay!

Misleading!!!

Property needs a cleanding crew .Pool needs to be closed. I. Do not believe Jo's explanation of the pool's condition.The window's are all filthy dirty.Will not never book VRBO ever again, as your cleaning fee is a scam.Anthony.

The photos do not do this property justice. It was immaculate with amazing views and lovely shaded areas. This was the perfect place for a girls trip. Perfect Little Vacation

Beautiful, well maintained property in the Mission Highlands with a great view from the deck. Villa Serena is just that, a serene, relaxing spot, immaculately clean with a jewel of a pool. Communication with Jo was more than excellent. We loved our time at the VS, it was always a pleasure to return "home" after our days exploring lovely Sonoma. Thanks, Jo, for a magical stay.

A Serene Experience!

My friends and I stayed in this lovely home and had a truly wonderful experience. It was everything that the listing said it would be-----and more! Beautifully furnishings and very well maintained. Sonoma and the surrounding areas have wonderful restaurants and shopping....not to mention the wine tasting opportunities! I would definintely stay at Villa Serena again and would recommend it without reservation. Go---enjoy!

Surpassed our Expectations!

Well, the photos made Villa Serena look great, but what we saw when we arrived was even more beautiful! Every aspect of this amazing villa feels like it was intentionally planned for the ultimate guest experience. The deck/balcony overlooking the valley was a definite highlight. Super comfy beds, luxury appointed bathrooms, and a serene pool topped it off! I would definitely recommend this home with 5 plus stars and hope I can visit again soon!

A few things…

We had hoped for a king-sized bed in the bedrooms, a shower in the master and a heated pool and hot tub. The TV wasn’t really accessible or watchable, but we didn’t need it for us. The place was very serene and we loved all the outdoor spaces, the views and wind chimes. The host was very communicative. The lighting was very confusing even with all the explanations and some didn’t work.

Lovely Property with an amazing view

My family and I stayed for the Christmas holiday and had a wonderful time. The location is convenient to the main square in Sonoma and yet it feels like the property is remote given the stunning landscape views. The house is cozy and comfortable with multiple seating locations for working, eating or reading. Jo is a lovely host and very communicative. She will reach out via phone to provide an overview and recommendations on things to do locally. Highly recommended!

Just beautiful.

As detailed in so many previous reviews, this is a wonderful home. The view of the valley from the large deck is just what I was looking for and the pool was great. The furnishings were exceptional and very comfortable. Even the bed and bath linens were top quality. The kitchen was stocked with more than enough of the basics. I really can't think of anything that was lacking. All in all, this home made for a very relaxing, rejuvenating getaway.

We had an amazing stay at your house and appreciate how great your communication was as we prepared for our trip. Your house is amazing with breathtaking views. If anyone is looking for a first class home and owner in wine country this is it. Thank you for the bottle of wine upon arrival! Top notch class! Great wine country getaway

We enjoyed our stay at Villa Serena. It was a great location for our plans. We visited multiple wineries in the Napa & Sonoma area and also visited with friends in Santa Rosa, visiting 2 state parks. Our drive was 50 minutes or less for all our planned destinations. The house was immaculate. Directions, locations of anything we could need was very clear through email and a binder within the residence. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking implements. We cooked almost every morning and every night while there. There is a Whole Foods and Safeway very convenient to the house. The view out the windows and off the deck is lovely. Many thanks for a wonderful stay!

Perfect Weekend Escape

Lovely home- well cared for and excellent attention to details and “hotel-like” amenities that show thoughtful hospitality by the owner. Very clean with comfy linens and towels. Bathrooms and laundry room were pristine… would have loved a second shower .. but we were able to arrange our laid back vacation schedule to accommodate all (4 adults) Surprisingly close to town center but with the rapid uphill ascent you feel far far away from daily madness. Gorgeous views from the lovely deck. Perfect breakfast spot! Kitchen well appointed but never got to use - except for breakfast since so many excellent restaurants in town. only wish our stay at this quiet and peaceful retreat had been longer. Thanks for sharing this beautiful property.. would highly recommend for an adult get away

My wife and I stayed here for a few days around the holidays. Absolutely beautiful home and location! We've stayed at many homes across the country, and this one ranks towards the top of that list at which we have stayed. Back it up a bit, I have to say that Jo was also the most gracious and considerate host I have ever stayed with. Communication early was fantastic, and the wine and greeting card left for us was a pleasant and homey touch. This feel like a HOME. Immaculately cleaned, very well maintained and thoughtful appointed and decorated. Extremely quiet and private property, and neighborhood with a view that the pictures do not do justice. Stunning. All of that, and still just a short drive down to the square in Sonoma Weather wasn't great for our trip, but this house more than made up for that factor and we will be back!

Beautiful home, view & area and refreshing pool

The home is so tastefully decorated, just loved it. I was impressed with how well the kitchen was stocked. We were planning to cook and BBQ so we were prepared, but they had thoughtful things that we forgot like having foil and a shelf full of spices. We rented the home for a week to get out of the usually foggy city, so we wanted a view and a pool. A house with a pool not too big for two people is not easy to find, so it was perfect for us. The bed was comfortable and my sister stayed one night in the guest room, and she said the twin bed was comfortable and linens were quality. We loved waking up to a view of the Sonoma valley. The pool was my first requirement and I usually like the temperature like a bathtub. I was hesitant because it's not heated. Temperatures went from over 90 to over 100 and the pool was just right; we even swam in the evenings. We could live on the deck, coffee in the morning, happy hour in the afternoon and dinners each night out doors. We took walks every day and found the neighbors friendly as well. The view reminded of us of a place near Todi, Italy, a favorite of ours. We are in Sonoma often, but still ventured out for a lunch and a few tastings. You are away from it all and it's a peaceful location, and at the same time, the square is 8 mins away We will stay again!

We purchased our Sonoma vacation home in 2008. The minute we walked in and saw the view and experienced the calming effect of the property we knew it was for us. We have spent several years making improvements, painting, furnishing and turning the house into our 'home away from home'. The town of Sonoma is so close to San Francisco and yet feels like you are in another country. It reminds us of parts of Italy with the rolling hills filled with vineyards. We love Villa Serena and have enjoyed the times we've spent here. We hope you will find the serenity that the name implies.

Why they chose this property

It is only minutes from the historic Sonoma Plaza yet it has the feeling of being very secluded. We have been coming to Sonoma for the past 30 years and have stayed in many of the hotel resorts in the area. Now we have our own 'resort' and can come anytime we want.

What makes this property unique

One of the benefits of Villa Serena is it's location in the hills just above the Plaza. It is in an exclusive residential neighborhood with views of the valley. It is very private and the setting feels like you could be in Tuscany. The house has a wonderful flow to it and it is perfect for couples as well as a get-away for friends.
