*Please note the following *One set of stairs IS required to enter the home. *The driveway does have a slight incline but it is paved and very manageable by nearly all of our guests in any type vehicle. It is maintained by a snow plow in the winter when necessary according to winter weather conditions. *There is one security camera on property. It is located outdoors by the garage and films the driveway only. This is important to us to be able to monitor our home when it is not occupied as well as to monitor winter driveway conditions for our guests. It enables us to know when to call our snowplow guy to come and take care of the driveway . There are no other cameras outside or inside of property.

This mountain cabin features wrap around decks that are nestled in rhododendron and offer some privacy. It is perfectly situated for a relaxing Banner Elk town visit, a Beech Mt. adventure, and treks into Boone. We enjoyed the games and snacks provided by the host. The house offered everything we were looking for. And the host was very proactively available.
This cabin is a favorite of ours. This was our second stay here. Each time the owner has always made the check-in and check-out process seamless. She always communicates in a timely manner to make sure you have all you need for your stay in the Banner Elk area. This cabin is conveniently located less than a mile from the Banner Elk town center making it easy drive to our favorite breakfast spot the Banner Elk Cafe. Our favorite feature of the cabin is the fireplace. We sat in front of it for hours just chatting. The owners also make sure you have plenty of wood to burn. We will definitely be heading back to this cabin in the near future!
We thoroughly enjoyed staying in A Frame of Minds that was so easy to get to, first class in comfort, and very pleasing mountain decor that has a very thoughtful host. Plus after experiencing having a garage with a remote opener is now a must have especially in winter. We would stay here again.
Cabin was nice, clean just a bit pricey for the size since it is smaller than we thought. Lisa the manager was great to communicate with and had everything ready for us. We had a good time.
The house was amazing. We felt very welcomed, and the extent of necessities left for our use was unparalleled. Even down to coffee and snacks, the owners thought of everything! I would without reservation highly recomend "A Frame of Mind" ❤️
We enjoyed this home. It was quiet and comfortable.
The layout of the cabin was very workable, and the kitchen seemed to have what you would need to cook a meal, although we did not do so. Hosts provided coffee, tea, and some snacks, which was a very nice touch.
We appreciated having the spectrum cable TV as well as a good internet connection.
One regret on a warm day was that we could not get windows open, and the screens on the patio doors were not workable. I suppose this does not matter during most seasons, but we would have enjoyed it since outdoor cushions and chairs were wet much of the time we were there.
The place had easy access to town, although we did not walk it as we are getting up there in age! Young folks would have no problems.
We had a nice relaxing few days. Thank you.
Our two week visit was exactly what we were hoping for. The house was very well maintained and had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. The proximity to downtown was great and our dog really enjoyed his daily walks along the Greenway Trails. Looking forward to coming back.
Thanks.
I can only give 5 stars for this property since 10 is not an available choice. The cabin was all we could have hoped for, and more. A very comfortable and cozy get away, tucked nicely in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood. We enjoyed the convenience of being just a short drive from town, and the walk on the nearby Greenway was great. Lisa (the owner) was extremely friendly and accommodating... the personalized welcome to our family left for us on the kitchen table was an especially thoughtful touch. We would most certainly look to this property again and again for future trips to the area.
We really enjoyed the cabin. It was peaceful and private. Accommodations were as stated. The cabin was well stocked and very clean. We had a great trip.
Cabin is tucked away in the woods but not far from the store or restaurants, best of both worlds! Clean and was already stocked with firewood and all the other supplies we needed for our stay. Lisa was very helpful during the process and answered any questions we had along the way. Will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to the mountains!
Nice cabin, close to town…walking distance to park and restaurants. Owners were very accommodating, allowing us to check in early. Special touches (basket of snacks, fans in both bedrooms for white noise, cute plush bears on the kids beds) made our stay with kids even better!
We were looking to buy property in the Banner Elk area and wanted to stay centrally located. A Frame of Mind was perfect as we scoured the entire area by car and were able to walk downtown to Banner Elk. The cabin was spotless and comfy. Thank you for a great stay.
A Frame of Mind was the perfect location for our family's spring break. We travelled from Tampa with our family of 4 and our pup (we were so grateful and excited we could bring him). Lisa was so helpful before, providing information on check-in, the home and the town. Check-in itself was a breeze. The driveway, however, is not for the faint of heart, especially at night lol But once we got more comfortable with it, it wasn't a big deal and gave us a great daily workout after walks. Lisa left the sweetest welcome, including snacks which the kids loved. The house is so well-equipped, especially for families (baby gear, eating utensils, board games and puzzles, etc.). The house is super clean and had everything we needed. We loved the fireplace and spent lots of time snuggling in front of it and watching movies. The home is within walking distance of the greatest greenway which included a playground, room to run, a dog park, and a creek the kids loved playing in. We loved Still Waters, Banner Elk Tap Room, the arcade and the ice cream shop. We skied at Beech Mountain, visited Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls, Mast General Store, Sugar Creek Gem Mine, etc. We truly had the most wonderful vacation and it was thanks to Lisa and her beautiful home. We will definitely be back.
Location is great. Peaceful and quiet. Minutes from town. Cabin itself is wonderful. The owner has thought of everything. We personally have never stayed at VRBO so well equipped. Owner checked on us a couple to ensure everything was perfecr for us. And she was always available to answer any questions. We'll be back.
Our family of 5 enjoyed this splendid A-Frame hill-top cabin located within a short drive or walk to the best stops in Banner Elk! The owners/hosts have done an outstanding job of providing all the necessities for wary travelers! Everything was clean, thoughtfully organized, and included a complimentary snack basket, coffee. and hot cocoa! Also, not having to contend with the hassle of washing towels/linens that were provided, allowed for more family vacation time and activities! Thank you so much Lisa!
Such a beautiful, clean house and a great stay! We went in January with our little dog and enjoyed the (real) fireplace and the comfy sitting areas. Beds were all comfortable and the kitchen well-equipped. The garage was a super perk. Very quiet and private. Plan to revisit in the spring/summer to enjoy the expansive decks. Lisa is the best host - very responsive & caring. Highly recommend!

Thanks for considering "A- Frame of Mind," our little cabin in the trees of Banner Elk. I am Lisa PolhIll, and own the cabin together with my husband, Frank. We fell in love with the high country several years ago visiting often in the summer to escape the Alabama heat! We now are lucky to spend a large portion of the year here and enjoy ever moment of it! We manage this property ourselves and when we aren't available we have trusted friends who do so for us.
Why they chose this property
We chose this property to share as a rental because we think it will fit the need of so many travelers. Our goal with A Frame of Mind is to provide a comfortable, extra clean and convenient location for our guests to call home for awhile while visiting this special area! The convenient walkable location to downtown Banner Elk is the best! We have traveled a lot in our lives and stayed at many many rentals. It is our goal to make this cabin one where you feel at home and totally comfortable. We know vacation time is a special time and nothing sets the stage for that time better than a great place to call your home away from home! We hope you find that here at A Frame of Mind. If we may have missed anything or can do anything to make your stay more comfortable, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate.
