Very nice cabin on a beautiful Northern Wisconsin Lake. Fishing was great when the weather cooperated. We had a fantastic stay and will be back next year!
Such a nice place and location. Sunset lake was so quiet it was heaven. Caught some nice smallmouth with my oldest son in the evenings. The sunsets from the dock are amazing! Highly recommend the Overwatch will be back!
Eagles, deer, red headed woodpeckers, loons and wild turkeys. 10 minutes to Eagle River and Saint Germain. Great location! Caught fish on a very hot week.
The Overwatch is exactly as advertised. It is a lovely place on the lake, and provides an excellent opportunity to enjoy the best of the Northwoods. We saw eagles flying overhead at various times of day. It was our first time here, and we would definitely stay at The Overwatch again. Thank you!
This was our 2nd stay. This place is everything as described and more. Fishing was as Dave described. Quality of fish caught was amazing. The cabin once again was clean, kept up and net all expectations Unfortunately we have to skip coming back in 2025 but we will be back in 2026. Thanks Dave!
This place was a slice of heaven on earth. The cottage is everything and more. The description doesn’t do it justice. Fishing was fantastic. Never had to leave the pier! Bluegills, walleyes, bass and even a couple crappies. Definitely booking for our anniversary next year!
This place was wonderful! The owners thought of everything and were so helpful with any questions. The cabin was so clean, the view was gorgeous and the surrounding outside area of the cabin was so beautiful. The lake was crystal clear, unlike any other lakes I’ve seen before. We would stay here again! The only regret I have was forgetting to sign the guest book and add more about our stay in that. Thank you Dave! This place felt like a home away from home. We loved it!
Second time visiting. First in the Fall and now Winter. It doesn't disappoint. Cabin is great for our small family of three. Close to Eagle River and a short stint to St. Germain. Lake setting is beautiful and the host is very helpful and great to work with. You may even be greeted by the "resident" deer when you pull in!

Vacation
Overall the place was nice. To many rules. A lot of ants roaming around and spiders. We been at other locations cheaper and overall nicers. Could be better described, a little misleading. Dirty barbecue, not enough coal and lighter fluid.
The Overwatch on Sunset Lake is gem. My son and I spent a few days here fishing. The house is abundantly stocked and has all the amenities one could need. Sunset Lake is beautiful and the fishing was outstanding. The availability of Walderhouser was great and provided the best fishing opportunities , although we also caught a ton of fish from the dock. Eagle River is just a short drive away and per my son, has one of the best mini golf courses ever. Dave was a tremendous resource on all the local flavor, with tips on where to eat and the nearest bait shop. My son is already asking how soon we can go back
The location is fantastic--pristine lake, nestled in trees, and oh so quiet at night. They don't call it Sunset Lake for nothing with the stunning views from the living room and the dock. We were able to hear loons and peek at a deer that wandered through in the morning. Even with this secluded retreat, you are just a reasonable drive into Eagle River for provisions. There is a wonderful selection of supper clubs within a ~30 minute ride. Very responsive host and all creature comforts (linens & kitchen gear) are provided. Bunkbeds are in the basement, so if you've got teens with you looking for a bit of space, they'll be set. We had a relaxing long weekend and enjoyed ourselves very much.
We had a great stay at The Overwatch. The host, Dave, was very friendly and easy to communicate with. He even gave us some tips on where to find fish. The steps down to the lake are a bit steep, especially if you're hauling a bunch of fishing gear. Not a problem though, it just makes you feel like you earned the hot shower and cold beverage once you get off the lake. The property was very clean. Bed was a bit stiff for me but that's just my preference. Overall a great experience and I'm sure we will be back in the future!
We had a great time at The Overwatch. We loved the feeling of remoteness yet close to town and activities. It was a perfect set up and we had so much fun on "Waldhouser" fishing the lake. It was so much fun we hope to be back this winter with our son for a crack at ice fishing. Thank you for sharing this lovely property!
This cozy cottage is a perfect getaway for the family or just you and your spouse! Lots of updated amenities, and the owner is very personable and willing to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. It's a quiet and peaceful location, yet close to town for additional activities. We will definitely be back on a regular basis!!
House was absolutely fantastic. Property owner is super nice. The lay of the property is not conducive for parking at the house whatsoever if you have a truck and trailer or other large items. There is a lot approximately 1/3 mile down the hill, but if you have anything of value, it's not likely you want to leave it down a wooded hill where you cannot watch it. We were able to park a truck and 27' trailer, but had to back it down the hill. The neighbors next door are spazzy about anyone parking, driving, or even crossing their property line. Not once did we do that, and yet they still called the property owner with concerns, who then called and interrupted our vacation to alert us. I have worked in hotels and resorts for 20+ years, so I can absolutely guarantee we were one of the cleanest and most respectful renters he's ever had. The house is wonderful, like I said, but because of the neighbors, we would not return. It just is what it is.
My girlfriend and I spent 3 amazing days fishing and relaxing on the lake. The cabin was warm and comfortable after a long day on the water. It had everything we needed to enjoy our stay.
We definitely overpacked...
The host answered all our questions prior to arrival so we knew what to expect and it was all as advertised and more. Truly a great vacation. 5 stars all around!
This property was very clean and a relatively new cabin ( guessing around 20 years old) which was located right on a beautiful private lake. Dave, the owner, was extremely friendly and very helpful and used plenty of his time to help with questions and recommendations for us to make sure we had a wonderful trip. We had the use of an aluminum flatbed row boat, which was included in the reservation, so we could fish or just go for a ride on the lake. The town of Eagle River was also an interesting little town with lots of fun things to offer. We had a very enjoyable experience for our 10 year anniversary which included a lot of rest and relaxation along with 2 nights snuggling by the wood burning fireplace and watching movies. I was able to go fishing for a little bit and found an area in the lake where the bass were really hitting! Also kayaked the lake and watched the beautiful sunset!! Will definitely be back again. Lastly the owner is planning on using proceeds to remodel the cabin so it meets Americans with disabilities standards to disabled veterans can enjoy the pleasures this property has to offer... a very noble cause.
