The House Next Door - Holland, Michigan

THND is a safe, comfortable, and satisfying place that feels "just like home". A turn-key home that has been fully remodeled in the last three months and is full of as many household amenities that we could think of.

There is patio furniture and a gas grill on the back deck, community veggie garden boxes in the back yard (help yourself), Roku TVs in all bedrooms and living rooms, and blazing fast wifi (your host is an IT guy!) through the whole house.

Flexible clean space close to family activities

We would stay at this place again! The split level layout allowed privacy for everyone. The flexible furniture like the (4) twin floor mattresses available in the bedroom on the lower floor allowed us to shuffle our kid's sleeping arrangements easily. They had a pack and play (new and clean) and a high chair. They have amenities in each room like luggage holders and they provide shampoo, conditioner, body wash, qtips, etc. They also have streaming services on the tv like Netflix.

Great place to stay for Grand Rapids area golf trip

My brother, dad, and I stayed here during a 3-day golf trip for Father's Day weekend. Holland is a great location with a lot of fantastic golf courses within an hour. Everything was clean and comfortable upon arrival. AC works great which is important after a long, hot day in the sun. One other nice feature, which is often overlooked at rentals, was a nice Weber grill on the back deck. Grills are often overlooked, but not here... it was newer, clean, and the propane tank was filled. Made for some great steak, chicken, and burger grilling throughout our stay. The back deck is also a great place to wind down at the end of the day. We had a very minor maintenance issue that James responded to quickly and it was addressed/fixed the same day, which we were very appreciative of. All in all, would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again if in the Holland area.

Fun Family Weekend in Holland

Overall this was a very clean and well maintained property. Instructions were clear. Communications with the host was straight forward and responses were timely before, during and after our visit. We accidently left our computer charging cord at the house and the host immediately returned it to us. Great stay! Highly recommend it!

Beyond Comfortable

House was great for our family gathering for events in Grand Rapids and Holland. Obviously a lot of thought and care went into the home. State of the art kitchen and the two levels allow for privacy as well as spots where group can come together. Highly recommend.

More than just the house next door!

So enjoyed the accommodations. Holland Heights was extremely convenient to downtown Holland and Hope College, which was where we spent most of our time. We only had 4 members in our party but the house had plenty of space to spread out. Highly recommend.

Wonderful Wedding Getaway Home

We loved the home! It was very clean, decorated well, beds slept way too well (very very comfy), all the amenities you could ask for and so much attention to detail went into making this feel like a home away from home. Great communication with the owner. He does live next door, but which one? I know! Would stay here again. Thanks for a wonderful few days.

Holland family trip

Property was nice and clean. Everything we needed was pretty much in the house - nice TV’s in all the bedrooms and only about 8 min from downtown. I was pleased to know the bed duvet covers are washed after each stay.

Great Stay

Very friendly owner who was helpful in providing local recommendations and very quick to respond to any questions. House was clean and well maintained. No complaints at all. About a 10 minute drive to downtown Holland. Meijer nearby for anything you might forget to bring.

Great location, clean and well equipped place

I gotta agree with everyone else’s comment. The host keeps the place spectacular clean. I could say this place is cleaner than most of the hotels in USA. The location is in a safe area and so close to downtown,highways exists. It only takes less than 10mins to downtown/ Meijer, Aldi are within 5mins.House is fully equipped with towels, beddings , kitchen stuff. Host- James is very responsive. During our stay, the weather was cool and hot from day to day. James was very accommodating with our request on switching between AC/heating. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting this little cute town.

Excellent stay!

Our family stayed at James’ house during our vacation for Tulip Time and it was an excellent experience. With how busy this time of the year is in Holland, this place was a quiet, comfortable place for us to come back to each day. Everything we wanted to visit was a short drive away. The house made it much easier for us to travel with our 2 year old son! Thanks for a great stay!

Lovely and cozy!

This is a very well decorated, comfortable, and cozy place to stay! The house sits in a very nice and quiet neighborhood, while it is located just down the street from the downtown Holland area where there are shops, restaurants and everything that you need! I loved staying here and James is an awesome host! I needed to work remotely for a couple days that I stayed there, so James went out and bought a monitor for me to use with my laptop so that I would be more comfortable and could see the screen better! I would say that was above and beyond! 😊

Beautiful house!

We loved this house for our yearly sister in law weekend. It was perfect for all 6 of us! The house is beautiful, cozy and very clean! The beds and pillows were the best! The host was very helpful when we had issues with the TV, we aren't very techie. He was very quick to respond to any question we had! We would recommend this house to our friends and family or anyone visiting Holland. It was close to the stores we needed and found a couple of great restaurants close by. Thanks for an enjoyable place to stay!

Very, very nice

The house was as advertised: very clean, comfortable, and home-like. While a lot of rentals seem like they were decorated and furnished piecemeal from second hand stores or garage sales, this home seemed as if they owners had decorated and furnished the home like they had planned to live there themselves. The house wasn’t exactly in the center of the activities for the area, but a short 15 - 20 minutes drive got us everywhere we wanted to go. We would definitely stay there again!

Hello!

My name is James and I'm your host! The House Next Door got its name because we literally live next door! I am dad to a long-haired Weimaraner named Buddy. I am an avid foodie, adventurer, outdoorsman, and traveler.

I attended college at Ferris State University earning a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master's Degree in Business Administration with advanced certifications in Design and Innovation Management from Kendall College of Art and Design. During my career, I've had the privilege to work for large technology companies in the automotive, information technology, and petroleum industries in varying roles from Process Engineering to System Administrator. I am also a professional bicycle mechanic, still working for the same shop since 2005!

We are very customer service oriented and are excited for the opportunity to be your host!

Why they chose this property

Our location couldn't be better within Holland and we are lucky enough to own our neighboring house to rent! We get to be immediately available for our guests during their stays to offer support, correct any issues that may come up, and best maintain our rental.

What makes this property unique

To us, The House Next Door isn't a luxury stay. We aren't trying to create that type of place. We intend to create a place that is safe and satisfying while feeling "just like home". The house offers a fenced-in backyard for small children to be safely watched by parents while they lounge, grill, and gather on the upper deck. There is a 4-acre field in the back yard, owned by the adjacent church, where guests can have more space for outdoor activities.

We also have 4 small box vegetable gardens that guests can help maintain and pick fresh veggies during their stay.

James is a professional bicycle mechanic and can provide parts, service, and rentals during your stay!
