The house is nestled in the woods and on the water with spectacular sunset views over looking the Albemarle Sound. Enjoy sunning in the pool or fishing off the dock. They spied on us with cameras inside the property

We found a camera hidden in a plant above the cabinet inside the house the lady had the audacity to tell me we shouldn’t expect privacy when staying at a Vrbo home outside the house I’m all about security cameras. Inside is beyond an invasion of privacy and breach of contract. She tells me her husband is an attorney so good luck lol. He should no better! This lady text us because our kids jumped in and out of the pool. No cover no signs. But bizarre to think they were watching us that closely. Last but not least the listing says there is a hot tub. There is no hot tub. Meirley a bathtub with jets

Great spot to relax

We rented the property for a 2 week beach vacation, and wanted to stay on the " sound" side instead of staying oceanfront. The sunsets were spectacular and the home was beautiful. My husband enjoyed crabbing and fishing off the deck. daaily.

The most amazing vacation

Beautiful home on the sound. Had everything we needed. The fishing was great off the dock. The pool was clean and enjoyed everyday by us all. We can’t wait to come back next year and also the owner made everything perfect for us throughout the trip.

Perfect Vacation Hideaway

We loved the area as it was quiet, relaxing, and beautiful. We enjoyed staying along the sound watching sunsets, pelicans, and fishing. Downtown Manteo was charming and nagshead was a short distance away for additional restaurants, shopping, and the beach. The house was spacious and had all the amenities needed. Melinda our host communicated regularly and made check in, check out a breeze and also answered any questions quickly. Highly recommend

Absolutely beautiful home

We had the most lovely experience with this house. All the beds were 4 posters, The pool was nice (Except for the equipment to clean it, which was broken), It was right on the water and the host was fabulous. There was plenty of room for everyone.

Fantastic Secluded Getaway

We can't say enough great things about this property and its owner. Melinda was a great host. She reached out ahead of our arrival and stayed in contact throughout. We've stayed in a number of homes over the years, but this was the best by far. The home was beautiful inside and out. It was clearly well-loved and carefully maintained. It was tastefully decorated and welcoming. We've been staying oceanfront in May in OBX for many years, but I'm glad we chose this home to try fall on the sound. It was on a quiet dead-end road close to the small shops and restaurants in the village of Manteo, but also within easy driving distance for anything you'd like to do on your vacation to OBX. We are already planning the timing of our next trip to this home!

Beautiful property with free sunsets

Fabulous property and views to die for. Every aspect of our stay was perfect from start to end. Melinda, the owner of the property was great and responsive to questions and made us feel at home in her beautiful home. This is not your typical rental property. Everything is top of the line. It is away from the hustle and bustle of the beach but close to everything. we will be back

Perfect Soundside Space

The house was very clean and well appointed - big kitchen that was perfect for family meal prep and evening hang-time! The owner was easy to communicate with and very quick to respond. There are many windows that have a great view of the sound. We had several days midweek where there were storms and rain - we cozied up on the couches and watched some pretty intense storms. We had an amazing week!

Family vacation to remember

Everything about this house was awesome. The furnishings, the decor, the location was just breathtaking. The sunsets from the pier was amazing. We had an egg hunt for the kids in the front and family game night twice in the evenings. We had plenty of room for our group of 10 to spread out and enjoy themselves. The jetted tub was an absolute favorite of the kids , they swam every night. The host Melinda was in contact throughout the stay making sure everything was great for us. For sure if you are looking for a home that looks like it was out of a better homes and gardens magazine with all the comfortable and amenities of a 5 star Hotel this is it. Thanks again for the wonderful time!!!

Beach Vacation 2023

Gorgeous spacious home with lovely views of the sound in a private neighborhood. Enjoyed the pool and the comforts of the residence. Loved being able to bring our dogs! Bathroom set up was a bit tricky at times between all of the bedrooms and wish the beach was a bit closer, but over all we greatly enjoyed the property. The owner was very friendly and helpful. It was nice to be able to contact her with questions. Thank you!

Paradise Away From Home

Overall, we had a great time. Location is perfect and the views were amazing! We caught a ton of crab and pinfish off the dock. We had to leave a night early because the ac unit upstairs was NOT working. It was set to 71 but it was 89 and unbearable. It worked for at least 4 nights of our stay but struggled the rest of the time. The owner said the AC was being looked the day of checkout. Make sure to bring your own sheets for the beds, we had to run to Walmart the day of check-in. We had to pay the pet fee once we got there as it was not included in the fee from the beginning. Overall the owner was very responsive and easy to work with.

What a gem!!!

This residence has it all! A architecturally stunning home, well stocked, ample space, beautiful pool, amazing sunsets and lovely neighbors! When we weren't in the pool or playing games inside, you could find us on the long private dock watching boats lazily motoring by, cheering as the native birds dove to catch fish or staring at the gorgeous sunsets. The neighborhood is quiet, nestled in the pines and separated from the typical tourist-y areas, but close to Manteo and the southern shores of the Outer Banks. Downtown Manteo is very close by; only about a 5 minute drive from this beautiful home. We enjoyed walking the main street and visiting the locally owned shops. Enjoying the local culture and fare, we also admired the beautiful boats docked at this welcoming seaport. Folks were very kind and welcoming, offering local food and fare suggestions. The fact that the town sits right along the bay waters only makes this historic town more enticing. If you're looking for a welcome respite from the hub-bub of the more populated areas of the OBX, but still want to be close enough to join the action, come here! And if you have any concerns while hanging in this stunning home, Melinda responds almost immediately and is quick to help! Thank you, Melinda! We are looking forward to visiting your home again soon!!

Amazing getaway!

This property is beautiful, and the owner was great. We took our paddleboards, and had great trips out each day. We were able to take our dogs, and the fenced yard was perfect!

August 2019 Family getaway

This property was a perfect spot for our weeklong getaway Aug 3-10, 2019. We spent the week cooking, fishing, and hanging at the pool. The location was perfect! If you like to be on the water, then this place is what you want. Kayaking/paddle boarding convenience can't be beat. We brought both of our dogs with us, which usually doesn't happen because most houses aren't pet friendly. They enjoyed lying by the pool and running in the fenced in yard. Checkin/out process was super easy, and Melinda was a great host and communicator! This is a great home if you are looking for a medium sized place. We had 9 staying and everybody felt like they had their own space. We will definitely be planning a return trip in the future!

Awesome place

The house itself is gorgeous, the owner is easily reached for any questions . Very clean . The paintings and decor are just elegant . The dock at the back is very relaxing . I sat there very morning while drinking coffee I wish I could take the dock and ocean home with me. The pool is great for family . We stayed with two other families and the house had everything we needed. The location is perfect right in the center of everything we wanted to visit . Beach is mere five minutes away! A great experience hands down . Will definitely come back !

Pros and Cons

Our extended family stayed the end of July/first of part of August. The pictures shown are accurate of the home. The pool and views of the sound are very nice. The kitchen is big and spacious. The beds are comfortable. We needed all 4 bedrooms so one of our sons & his wife had to endure the noise from the garage in the upstairs bedroom. The TV in that bedroom wasn’t hooked up but our son got it working. There were dirty washcloths left in two bathrooms and the smell of the water was awful. We had to keep bottled water in there to brush our teeth. The ceiling fan did not work in the middle bedroom. We either froze or the air was stuffy. This is a big house, but directions could have been clearer on how to regulate the air so the bedrooms were cooler and you didn’t have to freeze in the living area. Flood lights were burned out and we tried to replace them so the back yard could be lit up at night but they didn’t work. We agree with another reviewer that some general maintenance and sprucing up would help this rental. Over the years we have rented several homes through VRBO and have never had to bring packages in for the owner multiple times and notify them. The owner did stop by to reimburse us for filling up the propane tank and let us know ahead of time she was coming. Finally, we splurged to have this vacation since both our sons & their families were stateside at the same time. It has been almost 60 days and our security deposit has not been returned. We left the owner’s home clean and due to her waiting “30 days to return a deposit” she seems to have gotten us mixed up with someone else. She stated we spilt something on her couch and didn’t pay the pet deposit. I told her we never ate/drank in the den and then provided the owner a copy of my letter/check showing we paid the pet deposit. It is frustrating to pay all that money months ahead of time to secure the rental and then have this happen with our security deposit when we know we left the home in good shape. We will not rent this home again.
