small & cozy

We knew this was a very tiny place before we rented. Ella is very clear about how small it is, but is cozy and provides what you need for a nice stay. She let us know this was not a cabin in the woods. It is small house on a small cul-de-sac. The area is quiet and respectful. It is walking distance to groceries and local restaurant/bar. The cabin consists of a bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. The tv has limited stations, but you are in the Catskills and most of your time you are enjoying the great outdoors. We did walk to the local bar for dinner and to watch a sporting event one night. The people in the area are really friendly and fun. Ella is amazing and communication is the best I've had with many home owners through the years. If this home is too small, I would look into her other places.

Great little cabin in a nice quiet area

My husband and I stayed here for 6 days in July. We had a blast! The location is within a very short walk to the Prattsville Diner, grocery store, hardware store, ice cream shop, liquor store, park, a creek, and hiking trails - all within Prattsville. If you drive about 15 minutes, you can get to Windham, which is a nice little town with a gas station and a lot of great restaurant choices. There are many hiking trails within a short drive as well. If you drive a little farther, about an hour or so, you could spend the day in fun upstate towns like New Paltz or Kingston, or the state capital, Albany. The cabin itself is very neat and clean, and it has everything you need as far as bedding, kitchenware, towels, etc. My husband and I loved to have our morning coffee on the front porch, which has two chairs, and listen to the birds. It's a peaceful location. The bed is comfortable, although it was a bit small for us (we are both six feet tall!), but we got used to it. You can watch tv (about 20 channels) and there's a dvd player in the bedroom. We brought some dvds and watched movies at night. WiFi comes from the place next door and works best in the kitchen and on the front porch. It doesn't connect well from the bedroom, so if you need to use WiFi, you should plan to be in the kitchen or outside. I did not get any cell service there. I have SPRINT. I don't know about other phone carriers, but SPRINT does not have good service in Prattsville at all. Overall this is a charming little cabin, and my husband and I recommend it for couples who just want to get away or do some hiking. I'm sure in the winter it's great for skiers too. Ella, the property owner, is very nice and easy to get in touch with. She will help you with anything you need. Five stars!

Just what I needed

How can a bungalow a minute's walk from downton be so quiet and cozy? The stars gleamed brightly at night, accompanied by the sounds of the river. We had no quibbles or complaints, and would definitely stay there again.

Great stay at the Tiny House

Me and my fiancee stayed there and it was a lovely house. Yes it is a tiny house but it was very clean and nice. We visited neighboring towns because the town itself is very small and didn't have a lot to do so a car is a must. Very nice and quiet area and was very nice to stay and just getaway. I would recommend anyone that wants some quiet alone time to visit the tiny house, you won't be disappointed.

cozy cabin

We enjoyed our stay in the Catskill Bungalow. The location was good as we could walk to nearby restaurants, grocery store and wine shop... many hikes within a short drive. The cabin has everything you need for a quick weekend get away. We did happen to stay there during an extremely cold weekend so it was a little chilly in the cabin with only space heaters to work with. We wore layers the whole time and it was fine.

A great getaway from the bustling city life!

The bungalow is exactly as is shown in the pictures. It's very cute, on the small side, but extremely warm and cozy. I stayed here for 2 nights with my boyfriend (who is 6'3", so the size of the cabin should not be a problem at all), and really enjoyed it. Unlike most B&B's, you have the entire space to yourself, which was lovely. Everything is functional in the kitchen so we were able to whip up a meal on our last night which was nice. Also worth mentioning- it was extremely cold outside, but the cabin is perfectly temperature controlled, so you will be warm inside. It is also very strategically located- at a short distance from quaint little towns and every winter activity you can imagine. Like someone previously mentioned in the comments section, there is no sink in the bathroom. This wasn't a problem for us, but I think is important to be aware of. Another thing I think is important to mention (which Ella, the host, does warn you of in her instructions) is that warm water is limited. Meaning once you've used it all up, the boiler takes a while to heat the water up again. We realised this a little late, but once we did, we just decided to shower together which took care of it. Ella is an exceptional host, who goes out of her way to make sure that you are comfortable. She was super prompt in all our interactions, and checked in on us regularly to see if we needed anything. I absolutely recommend this place for anyone trying to get away the busy city life for a nice weekend in the hills.

Well Kept and Clean

My Girlfriend and I stayed for several nights to enjoy the local skiing (Hunter & Windham). Although we didn't get to enjoy the hiking because of the cold, the location is peaceful and perfect for two. The homeowner was also helpful and kind before and after our visit.

Very enjoyable weekend getaway

My husband and I had a great time on our weekend away! We walked a good strip of the Catskill Scenic Trail and up to see Pratt Rock. The cabin was exactly as described in the listing and shown on the map. The people in the town were friendly, and breakfast at the diner was good. We had an excellent calzone at Pizza Plus in Grand Gorge. Ella provided wonderful customer service!

a quaint stay with a reliable host

this cozy little place was perfect for our weekend getaway. the bungalow was a great balance of local charm, character and a complete list of amenities, as was the town of prattsvills itself. as soon as we arrived it felt like we were home, and with the great american market nearby we had the place stocked up in no time. dealing with ella was truly a pleasure and she was very prompt and communicative as well as helpful and patient, as this was our first time using a web-based vacation-home rental service. overall, a very positive and refreshingly simple experience.

Great Price. Nice Cabin. Great nature sightseeing.

Property was clean and in great condition. There is great sightseeing easily accessed by car. Just me & my girlfriend rented this cabin and we had a great time. There are a lot of children in the area. Around 10 P.M. on, the area is very quiet. The price is very reasonable. I suggest this cabin for people who are looking to go site seeing, hiking, fishing etc. The sleeping arrangements are best suited for 2 adults and a child. The bed is a bunk bed with a comfortable full size mattress on the bottom and a comfortable twin size mattress on the top. If you plan on going with just a lover, I suggest you put the full size mattress on the floor. I think you get what I mean ;-) Some other things you might want to keep in mind: You may not have cell phone service there. We have MetroPCS and had no signal at all. Perhaps other cell phone carriers work out there. Also, the wi-fi signal is weak. The cabin right next store which is owned by the same owner, is bigger, and nicely priced, has a strong wi-fi signal. The neighbors seem friendly so in case of an emergency, I think they would let you use their phone. Me & my girlfriend enjoyed not dealing with the outside world for a while. Me and my girlfriend are dark skinned. The area and surrounding areas are mainly Caucasian. Everyone was friendly and me and girlfriend were comfortable throughout our entire stay. The thing that impressed me the most was the great communication we had with the owner. She was such a big help and was friendly. She helped us with where to go sightseeing etc. We communicated with her via e-mail. (If you stay by the kitchen window, you get just enough signal to use the internet. Your device must be wi-fi capable.) We recommend this cabin as well as the one next door.

Great fly fishing headquarters

It was the perfect location for the opening of trout season. There's a creek that runs right through town --- within walking distance. If you have a NY Reservoir permit, the Gilboa Reservoir is only a few miles down the road (It's about six miles long and 80ft deep in some spots)!. I also fished the Catskill creek and took a day trip to the legendary Esopus creek (I guess about a 1/2 hour drive). I'll be back in the summer for more fishing and hiking. Ella, the owner, was a lot of help and keeps the cabin super clean. I would definitely recommend it, especially for the price!
