4 season secluded cottage, to unwind no matter what your hobbies. Enjoy fishing, canoeing, swimming, kayaking in our motorized lake. Hit the slopes at Elk Mountain when there is snow or to hike in the summer. Bring your Snowmobiles and Side by Sides for the Rail to Trials through NEP, or bring your book and your loved ones and simply enjoy nature and decompress.
The road to the cottage is a dirt road and has a creek that needs to be driven over, road is built under it. It was intended to be driven over. We recommend 4 X4 vehicles especially during times with possible, snow filled visits. It would also be wise to pack a shovel during winter months. Shovels are provide at the cabin however depending on storms your own might be useful You assume full responsibility driving the road to the cottage.

The property was very nice and the area was beautiful. Overall it was a very relaxing trip and I enjoyed the privacy the location provided. It was also very close to ski resorts which was a huge plus.
Had another great long holiday winter weekend at this property with friends and family. Easy access to Elk Mtn for skiing, fun playing on the frozen lake and cozy evenings by the wood stove and TV. Long dirt road to get there but wasn’t hard to navigate and still a close drive to general store (Cables), convenience store/pizzaria (Arlo’s) or restaurants (The Beacon) for weekend needs. Tips - Not too close to any grocers or state (liquor) stores so BYO for those things. Also as noted in the description sheets/blankets supplied but not towels, so BYOT’s as well.
A great property for a weekend ski trip. You better drive an SUV to get to the place due to the road, but overall very close to Elk mountain and clean!
The house was very clean, right on the lake. It’s a rough ride in you need four wheel drive. Fish right off the dock or take out the kayak or canoe. The views are beautiful.
We stayed at the house end of August. The weather was really nice, warm during the day and chilly at night. The house overall was nice, clean and well equipped. The road to the house is interesting… dirt road thought the woods and you have to cross a small creek. The neighborhood is quiet and relaxing. The town itself is bit boring, nothing really there to see or do. It’s a perfect location if you’re planning on staying at the house and Anjou the beautiful view in the back. We had a great time. No issues with the check in or check out.
The house was clean and well stocked.
We spent hours relaxing at the lake , swimming, fishing ,kayaking .
The property is very private and secluded, but that’s what we wanted , perfect escape from the busy city life .
We enjoyed every minute !
Thank you Shawn and Leah .
We really enjoyed our stay for the 4th of July weekend. The house is clean, spacious, and right on the water. Kitchen is well stocked. It was a bonus to have a kayak and canoe available to use as well. The host was very responsive. As listed in the property description, you should really have an SUV if you're coming here. The gravel road getting to the house is pretty rough.
This property met our needs. The kitchen was sufficiently equipped and the gas grill worked well. The furniture was comfortable. I appreciated the heads up (in a separate message from the owner) that we needed to bring our own towels (bath and lake) as I had missed that in the posting and there is no place nearby we could have purchased them! This property is REMOTE, so be sure to bring everything with you! The owners were very responsive. Nice to know they are local, even though we did not need them.
Property was just what we were looking for, a quiet lake house for a small family getaway. We took both of our dogs, they were in heaven. The views looked like Bob Ross paintings. It is remote and the road in is rough. I should have read properly, there was no AC. Homeowners were great to work with. Highly recommend.
My family and I truly enjoyed our stay in this nicely remodeled and clean home. We had all of the amenities we needed. The lake was perfect for swimming! Beautiful mountain view across the lake. Secluded and quiet. We had multiple daily visits by the hummingbirds. You could be sitting on the balcony within arms reach of the feeder and they would still come to feed. Amazing to watch them that close! The property was exactly as described. This will be our choice again should we vacation in PA in the future! Thank you Leah and Shawn!
This property is about as close to perfect as you can get, at least for what we were looking for and Leah couldn't of been a better host. She was very responsive.
The house is quite literally off the beaten path. A path that lead to a great property with killer views. The house itself was quaint and cozy, I stayed with 3 other people and three pups and there was plenty of room for double that. The beds were cozy, and the little living room nook was a great place to wind down. The kitchen was huge, the upper deck was a great place to sip morning coffee and the grill was in great shape.
While the house was superb we spent most of our time by the lake. We did some fishing, some swimming and some kayaking. Come night time it was as peaceful as can be. We enjoyed the firepit but nothing compared to the clear starry sky, we got lost looking up for hours at a time. We cant wait to visit again.
Peaceful location off the beating path. The lake is stunning. The neighbors are quiet and far enough away. The kitchen is wonderfully stocked. Hosts are great communicators. There’s a general store up the street and a bait shop a few mins away. The ping pong table was a huge hit with the kids. There’s a cute nook with a great couch to watch movies or tv. This was a relaxing getaway. Highly recommend.
This property was beautiful. It was very clean and had everything we needed. It was so relaxing that we hardly left the house. We would definitely stay here again!
What a great time! This was our second stay here. The kids loved swimming, canoeing and paddle boarding in the lake. The house was immaculate as usual and very comfortable for everyone. We will definitely be coming back when possible.
The property was beautiful. There were amazing peaceful views of the lake and plenty of seating all around to take in the scenery. The property was a little bit of a challenge at first to find but not too far from amenities in the small town. The house had everything we needed to keep our kids engaged, ping pong, kayak, canoe, books, dvds.
The owners were very responsive and once at the cabin they provided quite a bit of information regarding things around town and house rules.
Overall a great experience and would stay there again.
Everything you need for a lakeside getaway, the house is clean and comfortable, the property is peaceful and relaxing and allows for great enjoyment of the lake. The house is off the main road a bit but it is suppled with everything you need minus your food and drinks.

Why they chose this property
The view says it all. Not many places to find the solitude of Lewis lake with a water front that it has. Peace and serenity go along way in this increasingly chaotic world.
What makes this property unique
Quiet enough to recharge. But still amazing place to venture out to eat, and explore the outdoors. Every season has its own unique nitch in Union Dale. We recommended visiting during each season if you can.
