Family Vacation in Lake Ariel
I have to agree with the review of the previous renter there were a few issues. The house was a little older than the pictures showed and needed some work but all in all our family had a great time. Hugo and Desiree were quick to respond and sent a plumber out and apologized for the inconvenience. We did communicate directly with Hugo directly and he assured us that the issues were a surprise to him. Considering the covid restrictions, I am sure that weighed heavily on most vacation rentals this year. All in all I would definately go back to Lake Ariel "The Hideout" as it was a very nice development. The pool and lake were great and our entire family enjoyed the facilities.

I want to start by saying that I read reviews, so when I write one, it's authentic. I believe that the point of a review is to be constructive. To start with the plus ...The owner was very attentive, which meant so much, so going into this new experience, I was hopeful. Even when there was an electrical issue, it was quickly addresed (and I'm sure will be further). However, we were disappointed by this property. The grounds were unkept, which upon arrival was an eyesore. This house is old and little has been done to bring it into this decade, to say the least. It really could be cute. We chose this house because we are a large family, so having 5 br was needed, the bedrooms were spacious, but 2 of the 5 beds didn't have AC (I went out and purchased fans). The living space did not accommodate us. The kitchen was tiny and also the entryway so space was limited. This kitchen was not functional for cooking of any kind (and no, that's not important for some, but was a big disappointment for us). And note that the coffee maker is a K-cup (wish we knew as I had to buy a coffee pot as well). It seemed the basement was newly refinished, which was a great hang out space for kids. Upon arrival, there were air fresheners everywhere which we found were just masking. The cleaners should be addressed for a so-so job, it truly was not clean (kitchen, bathrooms, corners and the floors, things that when left undone, get worse). The community was very large and very secure but be aware that they are very serious about amenity badges. We got 3 all access at check in, and We were so grateful to the owner for the 9 left, but only 5 could be used at the pool. If you have a large group, extra badges can be purchased at the gate. Again, I write this to be constructive and transparent and hope it's helpful.

Very unhappy with rental home. This was our first experience with VRBO and not sure we will use again. We pulled up to the house and noticed the unkept/unmowed yard and the uninviting appearance of the home. When we entered we noticed a strong floral smell that was trying to mask a musty smell. On further investigation in the basement we found a very strong musty smell and contacted the home owners asking if we could turn on the dehumidifiers. We were told to do that, open all the doors in the rooms and put AC units and fans on and that should help. We did, but the smell did not leave so the basement where some of our guest were going to stay was unusable. Since we were just there to sleep and shower (because we were visiting other friends who lived in the Hideout) we decided to stay. Two days in a family staying with us got ill from the musty smell and had to rent another house and left. My son had to stay with our friends because the smell was also affecting him. During our stay we noticed that when taking a shower in the 2nd floor bathroom that it leaked into the kitchen and the first floor bathroom shower leaked into the basement. The cleanliness of the house was questionable; the stove top burners in the electric stove had remnants of food in them, the oven itself had not been cleaned in a very long time and looked like a bomb went off and the upstairs tub was not clean. During our stay I messaged the home owner to let him know the things we were finding so he was aware and was told he never had an issue before. So I sent him pictures and videos of the leaking water. When checking out we made sure that all garbage was removed, all beds were stripped and that everything was in the right place. When. I arrived home I contact VRBO to lodge a complaint. Two days later contact VRBO again and was told that the owner stated that we would not get any type of refund because we stayed the whole time, left the house messy and used all the linens. Of course, we used the linens because all bedrooms were occupied. Unfortunately, I did not take any photos of the house when we left to prove that everything was put back in its place, but also the homeowner was not able to provide pictures that we left the house in disarray. So yes, very disappointing stay in the rental home.

Great Property
I stayed here with my family over New Years Eve weekend and we had such a great time. The whole process was so easy. Hugo was very responsive, always replied quickly to any questions I had. The house was nice and clean and fully stocked and the beds were comfortable. We felt like we were in our own home. We didn’t get to do much exploring of the area but there is lots to do. The house is walking distance to the ski area, the restaurant and I believe the recreation center was nearby as well. We enjoyed our time here and look forward to returning.

Comfortable All Around
Warm, Cozy, and Spacious.. Everything was as it should be, easy communication with the hosts, and the house was very comfortable. I would absoluteky stay here again.
