About this property

Accommodation: The casa comfortably accommodates up to 8 in two identical bedroom wings. Each wing has a master bedroom and a secondary bedroom separated by a large shared bathroom. The master bedrooms have king-size beds; the secondary bedrooms have a queen and a single bed. All bedrooms are equipped with individually controlled air conditioning. All linens and towels are provided.

Great Room: This spacious great room includes dining and entertaining areas. Large screen doors open on to the pool and a panoramic view of the ocean. The dining table comfortably seats 12 and has an adjacent wet-bar equipped with a refrigerator and a wine rack. Breakfast bar for 4 is located on the pass-thru to the fully modern kitchen. The powder room is conveniently located at the front door. The lounge area includes a 42' plasma TV, satellite reception, and a large library of books, movies, and games.

Pool Area: Cool off in the 10m x 5m infinity salt-water pool. Outdoor dining and entertaining are complemented by the barbeque rancho with sit-up bar, and the covered gazebo designed for dining, lounging, and, occasionally, whale-watching. Access to the washroom is convenient to the pool. Pool towels are provided.

Casa Staff: Included in the rental are the services of the casa staff, Ana and Freddy, who have a private apartment in the casa. Ana provides meal preparation, housekeeping, and personal laundry. Freddy maintains the pool and the property. Ana and Freddy are available six days a week. We suggest that you experience one of the several excellent restaurants in the area on Sunday, their day off.

Best home to rent in Costa Rica

We had the most amazing time at Casa de la Loma. We arrived and Ana and Freddy were there to greet us and when we walked into the home just as the sun was setting it literally took our breath away. The pictures don’t begin to show the beauty of this place. A 4 wheel drive is needed to get up the last hill but it’s not scary at all - and I’m a wimp. The town of Samara is very close if you can tear yourself away from the home. And I don’t even know where to begin to praise Ana’s‘s cooking and her attention to every detail. On top of that the pool is so wonderful with the view spread out below you as you sip a cold drink. Don’t miss the chance to stay at this wonderful home.

Perfect dream vacation for all!

The home was PERFECT and all things listed online about the house from Wendy (owner) and all reviews were 100% correct! The home is gorgeous and we felt comfortable and pampered from the point we arrived from Ana and Freddy! The communication with Wendy is quick and helpful - she was always available with any questions or changes! The food was amazing and Ana even cooked a yellowtail that we caught that day! All reviews say Ana will help with excursions upon arrival (which made us - typical over planners a bit nervous), but within our first hour Ana helped us set up everything we were hoping to do and more! I would strongly recommend this home to anyone looking for a dream vacation! We will be back! Thank you Wendy, Ana and Freddy!

Beautiful setting and delicious food!

There are a few things travelers should know that are not specified in the listing. This is not a typical VRBO. The listing refers to Ana and Freddy as caretakers. In reality, they are constantly present. They live in the lower level of the house. In addition, we were scolded for having friends visit us at the house. We were told it was rude and we needed to ask for permission. Also, travelers are expected to tip 5 to 15 percent on the accommodation.

Hillside Paradise

This property was absolutely beautiful and well maintained. The pictures are accurate but the sunset in person is truly amazing. A 4 wheel drive is a must for this area in general if you want to venture out and about. We enjoyed every minute poolside. Meals were delicious and prepared with love. Know that meal time is set and not flexible. The common areas of this home are not air conditioned so your only retreat from the heat is the pool or your bedroom (we were instructed to turn our air off when not in our room). I understand conservation but at the same time we paid for this house and we were on vacation. This rule was tough on the older people in our group that needed a reprieve from the heat without having to wait for a room to cool down. We were greeted each morning by the sounds of howler monkeys, got to see one mama and baby from the pool on our last day.

Outstanding vacation spot!

10 stars! So many positives! The views from the house are beyond beautiful. The house is very clean and well maintained and in a very safe location. Ana and Freddy are helpful, kind and very good cooks. Ana helped make all local arrangements and recommendations for our family (3 adults 2 kids ages 8 and 10) which were great. The only downside (which we expected so we weren't too surprised) was the power went out 3 different days....one day it was out 5 hours. Overall such a beautiful experience. You won't want to miss this vacation spot!

It is as good as the listing looks

Casa de la Loma is as good as it looks in the listing. The house is on a hill perhaps 200 feet above the Pacific. The coast is rocky just below the house, and the sound of the waves against the rocks is constant and calming. The view is pretty awesome. Playa Carillio is perhaps 10 minutes away and is a beautiful, undeveloped, crescent-shaped beach about 1-1/2 miles long. The house is wonderful with an open plan which opens out onto the pool and patios. We spent some quality time hanging out there. As great as all that is, the best thing about the house is Anna and Freddy. They truly do go out of their way to make everything perfect. Anna made a big breakfast every morning and an excellent dinner each evening. I think she fattened us all up a bit. For any activities you want to do, just ask Anna. She knows everyone in the area and everyone seems to know her. She booked several activities for us finding better options than we could find for ourselves. For example, the private boat tour she booked for us was only slightly more expensive than a group tour, but the seven of us had the boat and the guide all to ourselves. The group of 25 or so getting on the group tour boat looked at us with envy. Tell her what you are interested in and she will be on her phone hooking you up with the right person in minutes. I could go on about the area and the wonderful people of Costa Rica, but I'll just sum it up by saying that you will not regret a stay here.

Wow - the views

To start, Wendy was a true host and helped us with planning in advance. Communication was excellent. Upon arrival, Anna & Freddie greeted us and were wonderful hosts throughout. The house was amazing. The views, the pool, the beds, the showers. The proximity to Playa Carillo and Playa Samara was ideal. We loved the town of Samara, which seemed to retain the charm of a local town but had everything we wanted or needed. We had two families of four with four adults and four teenagers. Everyone loved it. We enjoyed having breakfast and dinners at home prepared by Anna. Anna was very helpful to us with making calls, setting up excursions, etc. Our favorite part of the day was sitting outside in the morning having coffee. As advertised, a 4WD is an absolute requirement. The only place you will need it is getting up the hill to the driveway but you will need it. If we ever return to the area it would be hard to imagine staying anywhere else!

Rest assured, you can stop searching and adding potential properties to your trip board...JUST BOOK THIS PROPERTY! We booked this house for two adult couples and it was beyond perfect - we could have stayed forever! The property is clean, peaceful, well appointed and beautifully situated. Ana is a treasure! She is sweet, funny, helpful and her cooking is fantastic - you will be truly spoiled! Get ready to soak in the beauty of Costa Rica and feel the essence of Pura Vida here - ENJOY!

Best View

Casa de La Loma is such a relaxing, beautiful place. There is plenty of space and Ana and Freddie make everything so easy. It’s a place to truly relax and get some family time. I would recommend this home to anyone and everyone.

Amazing!

From making the reservation to communicating with Wendy to meeting Ana and Freddy we had an excellent experience. Originally scheduled for 2021 Wendy was very understanding for our need to reschedule to 2022 and then to 2023 - IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT! When we arrived on Saturday and walked in the front door our 3 generation family of 10 had to pick our jaws off the floor as we took in the breathtaking view over the pool to the Pacific ocean. We explored the house and pool and we were not disappointed. Ana and Freddy helped to accommodate every need as we settled in and they delighted us with a delicious Grilled Steak and Shrimp dinner - YUM! Ana and Freddy take a well deserved Sunday off but had supplied plenty of food to make our own Sunday breakfast and we ate in town Sunday evening. After going over the menu on Monday we went shopping to pick up some of the groceries and Ana took care of arrangements for most of the meat. Each meal was prepared with skill, pride and care and we were so grateful and felt so pampered. Most days we hung out in the spacious gazebo, played card games and played or lounged in the pool. Wendy, thank you for your understanding as our 40th wedding anniversary celebration turned into our 41st and finally to our 42nd. Ana and Freddy, thank you for making us feel welcome, pampering us with your great cooking and care for the facility and making us feel like family. This stay certainly exceeded our expectations and we hope to return again and again.

Amazing Oasis with Wonderful Service

I couldn’t believe this property lived up to all the glorious reviews, but it did! The house, pool and view were perfect and Ana and Freddy were amazing! Ana’s meals were delicious and she and Freddy wouldn’t let us lift a finger to help with dishes. She also recommended and coordinated many outings for us. The whole group felt relaxed and pampered.

As wonderful as we expected!

This is a fantastically remote location overlooking the ocean! We woke up each morning to the sounds of birds and monkeys. Ana & Freddy are sweet and hospitable. The view is gorgeous-we loved winding down each day in the infinity pool. Truly a magical vacation!

Worth the wait and then some!

We originally booked our trip to this property way back in 2019 for summer 2020 and after several re-schedules just made it in the summer of 2022! It was worth the wait and then some. First, the property owner was AMAZING to work with. She was very responsive with all of our re-schedules and questions. She also was super patient when we were working with VRBO to get our final payments to post. I can't say enough good things about how easy she made the process of both booking and arriving at our first big foreign trip as a family of 8 from two different locations! When we finally got there...WOW! The pictures in the listing are incredible but can't begin to do justice to the actual place. The accommodations and amenities were perfect for our family! Everything was pristine and homey. And then there's the jewels of this stay...Ana and Freddy! Amazing! Ana's meals were superb and she made sure that everyone in our diverse party was well taken care of at mealtime! The best part, however, was how friendly and helpful they both were! Ana helped us navigate getting all the excursions we wanted to do scheduled and had some great suggestions for some we hadn't even thought of! Add to that her knowledge (and willingness to share it!) of the local flora and fauna which made our stay even more magical! I cannot recommend this stay enough! In fact, we were already telling people about it at the airport as we were, sadly, departing!

Pure Vida

We had a wonderful stay at the villa. Anna and Freddy were fantastic with anything that was needed and we had a relaxing stay. The views are incredible and the house is the perfect layout for families or groups. We would definitely return to this home and location.

Ward Family Vacation

Puerto Carrillo, Casa de la Loma is a great property with an exceptional view and exceptional staff! Our host, Wendy, prepared us for the visit and promptly answered all of our questions. Ana and Freddy (staff) are truly professional!! They prepared every meal, and OH can Ana cook!!! In addition to maintaining the property and cooking, Ana knows everybody and everything going on in the area. Preparing for excursions, booking excursions and arranging transportation was taken care of instantly. Our familly, young and old, gives the total experience a 10 out of 10 rating.

Magical

There is one word for this property. It is simply magical. The view is insane. The pool is perfect and Ana and Freddy are wonderful. If you are thinking of booking it go for it! You’ll see monkeys in the backyard and the surroundings are stunning and peaceful. The house is a perfect set up for two families traveling together as it has two identical wings. Wendy, the property owner is responsive and very helpful. This is a trip we will never forget. Thank you to Wendy, Ana and Freddy. ❤️

What a vacation

What a wonderful vacation.....Ana & Freddy were just the perfect hosts and so attentive to our every needs. Every meal was delicious, the grounds and pool were in first class condition and the rooms were cool and immaculately clean. Ana and Freddy greeted us at the front door when we arrived the first evening (even though we were later than expected) and we ate as soon as we unpacked. The whole week's meals were discussed, with Ana's input, and we all went to bed on the first night tired, full and relaxed. Ana's English was excellent and she was so helpful with ideas on local excursions and booked whatever we required (Fishing, massage, direction to local shops and places of interest). A car is a must......the Villa sits on top of a steep hill, outside the small town of Samara, and the views of the Pacific Ocean and surrounding areas are spectacular. The Infinity pool offers great picture opportunities with the Pacific Ocean and Palm trees in the background. We were fortunate enough to see Humpback Whales from the back Balcony heading down to Argentina and monkey's from the front of the house playing in the trees. We stayed for one week and loved every peaceful minute. Thank you Ana, Freddy and Ms. Wendy for a vacation that we will remember for years to come.

The Great Escape

The property is beautiful with a great view of the Pacific Ocean. About 250 feet above the ocean there we could still hear the pounding of the wave on the rocky beach. The pool was a real treat and we all loved it. Anna and Freddie were great and their presence added to our enjoyment of the home. Fantastic sunsets every evening!

Amazing views with the best hosts Anna & Freddy

The property has spectacular views of the ocean and is well maintained with the landscaping perfectly manicured. The house is also well maintained and felt like you were in a brand new home. The best part of our stay was having Anna on staff to make us amazing meals and talk about Costa Rica. She helped us pick our excursions and gave us lots of great tips. I hope some day we can go back to visit Costa Rica and stay a few days with Anna.

Wonderful vacay

We came with a group of 8 adults for 5 nights. Coordination of food and excursions are done efficiently upon arrival. Anna and Freddy (house staff) were helpful in setting up excursions and ensuring we had a comfortable stay. Communication with the property manager prior to arrival, as well as house staff while in CR, was easy. The house and grounds are very clean and well kept.

This is our second time staying at Casa de Loma and it was wonderful.

This is our second time staying here and just like before it was wonderful. Not only is the house spacious with breathtaking views and beautiful sunsets but what really made our stay great was the great level of service Freddy and Anna provided us. We will definitely be back !!!
