The newly renovated Cameron House Retreat is nestled in the foothills of Northeast GA wine country, and sits at the base of Mt. Yonah, and butts up to the Chatahoochee National Forest, a short walk from our property.
This sprawling 5 bedroom, 4 full bath home is like no other in the area.
Our home is located halfway between famous Alpine Helen and historical Cleveland, just 1.5 miles off Hwy. 75, and only 90 minutes NE of Atlanta.
This area is quickly becoming known as THE premier spot for excellent wines, with more than a dozen local, highly rated wineries for enthusiasts to tour and taste!
Convenient to restaurants, boutiques, sports activities, nature trails with beautiful waterfalls, scenic drives and quaint towns, Cameron House Retreat is the ideal vacation spot for adults and children alike.
Kids can spend hours tubing down a lazy river, go miniature golfing, go carting, panning for gold, or enjoy a day at the water park, all minutes away!
Enjoy roasting marshmallows by a campfire down by a private shared lake, take a rowboat out for a little fishing, a pedal boat out for a little paddling, relax in our shaded pavilion, or just sit on the dock and take in the breath-taking million dollar views.
With wrap around porches, a hot tub, a large extended back deck, and a warm and cozy environment, our home is a stand-out. With many nooks and crannies, it is small enough to curl up in a favorite corner with a book, yet large enough to secure the privacy of up to 14 adults, and 3 infants!
Each area has it's own unique theme and personality. The main floor has a fully equipped farmhouse style eat-in kitchen, a den with a gas fireplace, 2 bedrooms, a full bath, a dining room, laundry room, and a large living room with a wood burning fireplace for chilly nights.
One flight up leads you to the master bedroom with vaulted ceilings and private terrace, another guest bedroom, and full bath, and a private wing that sleeps 6.
NEW! A 500 sq. ft. detached game room for playing poker, ping-pong, Foosball, pool, and air hockey while watching sports on a 60" flat screen TV! Room for little kids, (big kids too), to color and play board games.
Be prepared to be enchanted by our relaxing and secluded mountain retreat. And please don't think of it as going away, just think of it as coming home...

Family weekend in Helen

The Cameron House was great. The house was larger than expected and provided plenty of room for all our family members. The host was great in responding and made sure we had everything we needed. The house is also in a very good location close to Helen and many other attractions. We had a great time. Will stay again!!

Bachelor trip paradise

My fiancé and a group of about 10 of his friends stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate his bachelor trip. They had the best time!!!! He said the house was immaculate with plenty of room for everyone. The game room and pond was such a nice addition. Easy check in and great communication with the owner. Thank you so much!!!

Precious family time

We gathered to celebrate a daughter's significant decade birthday. "Surprise" guests for her included a favorite aunt from Ohio and Marine son stationed near Baltimore. We cooked (too) good meals, played games. Our fishermen were delighted to fish the small lake in the boat. Such a lovely home in a great location....seemingly in the middle of nowhere in the mountains but a short drive to grocery store, Mt Yonah hiking, wineries. It doesn't get any better.

Great place

Amazing property with breathtaking views

I would give this property 10 stars. Great location and not far at all from downtown Helen. Plenty of room if you have multiple families staying with you. My family will definitely be coming to stay here again!

Wonderful Vacation

What a great house for our large group. Plenty of room to spread out, great location, beautiful view, GREAT game room, and thoughtful touches. Great for children. It's the total package. We really enjoyed our stay. Robert & Debbi were great hosts & very responsive. We'll be back! :-)

Great for Large Get Together

Work Wellness Retreat

Property location is very zen. Calm, relaxing, peaceful, yet close to Helen, GA and other activities. Game room is great! Pool, ping pong, air hockey, poker, and other board games. Property owner and property managers are easily accessible and responsive.

Great Getaway Resort

Very impress with the retreat home, the home was clean and spacious. It was well stocked and everything was organized in the kitchen and bathroom. The property manager and the owners were pleasant and kind. The only down side is that on the last day there were issues with the water well so water supply was slim to none. Overall it was a great place.

Great getaway!

We had a great time at this house! The game room is awesome! Smores at the firepit, a boat ride on the water, convenient location to Helen, I mean what more can you ask for? Oh yeah, to relax in the hot tub to end your awesome day! The hosts really go the extra step, so many nice touches, It's the little thoughtful things that make them great hosts.

Amazing home.

I must start off and say that the pics of this home do not do it justice. This house is amazing and my family loved it. Plenty of space for everyone to spread out when the weather kept us inside and a great gameroom. The lake was great (although i would trim the willow tree at the dock) and we really wished we had the weather to take better advantage of the property. The home is very convenient to Helen and the surrounding areas, everything we wanted to see was no more then 15 minutes away.

Absolutely perfect!

This gorgeous lake house has all the comforts you'll need for an amazing vacation. Very beautifully decorated and loaded with all the basics you need in order to feel right at home. The owners, Robert and Debbie Sloane are very sweet and accommodating. The home is situated in a very central location only about 40 minutes from Blairsville, Dawsonville, Dahlonega, and five minutes from the beautiful German town of Helen. Our family had an incredible five days here and the children loved it as well! Can't wait to go back. We highly recommend it!

Beautiful View

Our family of 9 adults enjoyed the spacious home and game room. We enjoyed Mt Yonah nearby for a day hike, Helen, GA shops and small wineries. The game room kept us all entertained when it was chilly and rainy outside and the pond with row boat kept us busy when it warmed up a little. My oldest son caught a nice bass in the back right side of the pond (he released it) We likely would stay here again if we visit the Helen area. Plenty of room and plenty to do in a relaxing way.

We loved your home!!!

Everything about this home was great!!! We spent a week with our two children, their spouses and our 4 grandchildren. We all had a great time and there was plenty of room for us to feel like we could have some alone time if needed but we mostly shared the common area. The game room was excellent and we spent many hours in there!!! The house was so well stocked that we did not have to bring anything except our clothes and our food for the week!!! We rate this house 5+ stars and look forward to a future visit there!!!

Spacious, beautiful, and fully equipped

Our family stayed at Cameron House Retreat to celebrate a birthday and there were 15 of us. The property was fully equipped, well maintained, spotless, beautifully decorated and felt like a home. There was a fire pit, a playset, plenty of outdoor furniture, a hot tub, a paddle boat, a rowboat, a library for adults and children, toys, and large TVs in all the rooms. Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer. The owners checked on us and made everything was as it should be and we couldn't have asked for more. Perfect for large families!!!! Can't wait to return.

Perfect Vacation Retreat for Large Family

Our vacation rental was great.. My husband and I had our 3 adult children with their families..everyone had their room and space.. Plenty of towels and supplies for the many many showers and baths.. Well stocked kitchen for making meals... We stayed 5 nights and ate every meal there with the exception of one evening..The Sloanes go out of their way to make sure you have all that you need.. The small children enjoyed playing in the yard, enjoyed the fire w/s'mores...along with area activities.. The teens enjoyed the late night games, the hot tub and the area activities such as zip lining and white water rafting... I think everyone's favorite was hiking up Yonah mountain...all of my children commented this was their favorite family vacation spot of all the places they have stayed...we would highly recommend this rental to others...it was a challenge for us since we had two babies, one 2 year old, 2 six year olds, one 13 and 2 fifteen year olds...Although a little anxious when booking a vacation rental.. I soon realized we picked a winner at the Cameron House!

Short weekend getaway

We stayed the weekend at this property with three families, all with kids ages 7-11. We’ve rented many cabins/homes before, and I can say this property was probably my favorite for a larger group to stay all in one place. There was plenty of space to separate kids and adults, or gather all together in one area, if we wanted. The detached game room was a great addition. We walked down to the semi-private lake often and took the canoe on the water. Upon our arrival we had wine and s’mores supplies waiting! Such a nice touch for the fire pit. The bedrooms for adults all had King beds which was a must. The upstairs had a room with three trundle beds and a TV - perfect for all the kids. There were also tons of games and books for them to hang out without needing extra stuff to do ;) The hospitality and in person “tour” of the house upon our arrival was unexpected. We were very impressed. Only one issue with the hot tub not warming up, but when I contacted the owners, they immediately sent someone over and it was fixed right away. We’ll definitely be back! We felt like we were at home!

We, a very large group - 8 adults and 6 children (all under 6), had the best time Memorial Day weekend dispite rainy weather! We felt right at home and loved all the extra details that Robert and Debbi provided- there is literally nothing they haven't thought to include with the house. When we booked, we knew there were only 2 bathrooms but arrived pleasantly surprised to find two more finished full bathrooms! They're gorgeous and fit well with the overall flow of the house. The layout of the house is perfect for large groups and the pictures do not do the house and the surrounding area justice. It is beautiful! With 6 small children, their "wing" was perfect for them to sleep and play. We loved that it was upstairs, full of books and toys, large enough to play when trundles were put away, and had a door to close when they were sleeping to not be disturbed. Also, with small children we were concerned with the quick access to the lake but found that it's further than we thought and were not worried a child could accidently end up down there quickly. The area to the front of the house was perfect for play and riding bikes (which were provided) and the adults either watched from the beautiful front porch or could be found playing in the detached game room (which was so fun!) It was a perfect set up. With the two "living rooms" split up, there was ample space for hanging out, watching movies, or playing games on our rainy day. We never felt cramped and had the ability to find a quiet space to rest or read if needed. Overall, we had the best time as a family, just being together, and the Cameron Retreat House provided the perfect place to do so. Robert and Debbi have paid attention to details and provided everything that you'd need to make you're stay enjoyable. All the extra things you pack thinking you'll need will stay in the bags- you don't even need to bring! Seriously! There were even items provided we didn't know we'd need. It was if we were going to their actual home for a visit. We definitely recommend staying, have nothing to complain about, and think we've found the perfect getaway home for our large family. Even as our family grows, there will be plenty of room and fun to be had at Cameron Retreat House. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home! We will be back.

We are native New Yorkers, born and raised, but have lived in South Florida for the past 20 years, where we work and play and enjoy our family; especially our twin grandchildren who turn 5 this October.

Why they chose this property

Our family vacationed here in 2012 and fell in love with the area, and knew we had to come here again and again. It took some doing, but we finally convinced the previous owners, Carol and Greg Crumley, to sell!
Northeast Georgia is called the 'gateway to the mountains'. With balmy days, and cool nights, this home melds both of our worlds, (New York and South Florida), into one.
We are very fortunate to be able to share this amazing vacation experience with others.
