About this property
Beautiful medieval townhouse, Bergerac old town
Summary:
A beautiful, medieval townhouse in the center of the old part of Bergerac, recently renovated to the highest standard. There are 4 rooms on 4 floors, with a fairly steep and narrow staircase. Wonderful view over the river from the top floor. The house is in a pedestrian area, surrounded by bars and restaurants. It is an Ideal base from which to explore Bergerac and the surrounding area. The house has recently featured on tv in Channel 5's Holiday Homes in the Sun.
The Space:
The House is very old and full of character, and has been recently renovated to the highest possible standards. It has been beautifully decorated and furnished, and is very well equipped. There are lots of original features, and fabulous views of the Dordogne river from the upper floor.
However, it is a true townhouse, with one room on each floor, and a narrow staircase - would not suit anyone with mobility problems. Ground floor - kitchen/diner, 1st floor -sitting room, 2nd floor - double bedroom and shower room/wc, 3rd floor - twin bedroom and shower room/wc.
Guest Access:
The house is right in the center of Bergerac old town, only a few steps from many excellent restaurants and bars, and 2 minutes walk from the river and the old port. It is easily reached from Bergerac railway station and a taxi ride from the airport.
For those arriving by car, parking near the house is possible for unloading, and there is plenty of free parking in the town, within 2-3 minutes walk.
The Neighborhood:
The house is in the center of Bergerac old town, but in a pedestrian area, so no traffic passing. There are plenty of very good restaurants within a few paces, in fact 12 of the top 20 Bergerac restaurants (on Tripadvisor) are within a 5 minute walk, and 5 of them are in the square outside! They have their tables out in the square during the summer season, so it is a lively area, but not too noisy. it is 2 minutes walk from the river Dordogne, the quayside, the shops, the church, the market, etc.
Getting Around:
Bergerac is easy to walk around, but you will need a car if you want to explore the other well-known attractions that the Dordogne valley has to offer. The house is a 10 minute walk from Bergerac railway station, and a taxi ride from the airport (you will need to book a taxi in advance of arrival).
There is plenty of free public parking within 2-5 minutes walk, including Parking Foirail. It is difficult to find a space very near the house, although possible just for unloading.
Other Things to Note:
There is a tv with french channels, plus english speaking news channels.
There is also an apple tv box, so you can stream other channels from your devices.
Interaction with Guests:
We will be available to meet guests and hand over keys, and can be contacted if anyone needs extra help or information.
