This home was perfect for our family's stay in Athens. The interior layout is spacious and very thoughtfully appointed, with both beautiful and comfortable furnishings. The large kitchen has tons of counter space. It's perfect for both the chef and others to gather. The upstairs bedrooms are comfortable and quiet. The house is set back from the street on a very private lot with a fenced backyard, where our dog could run.
We (4 adults) stayed at the house when we attended the Masters practice round. The house was a good size for the four of us and had everything we needed. We also played golf at one the local courses (The Chimneys) while we were there.
Had a wonderful time at this cozy home. The property owners were so helpful throughout the whole trip. I would highly recommend this home to any and everyone who is looking to stay, I will definitely stay there again whenever I’m in Athens. Thank you Doug . 5
Our family has celebrated special events here twice now and it is the perfect property for the 14 of us. Quiet and peaceful with plenty of indoor and outdoor space for everyone. It is easy to check in and out and host is responsive. Highly recommend.
We had an amazing Christmas stay! The house was perfect—spacious enough to comfortably accommodate our entire family and beautifully appointed. It truly made our holiday special. Highly recommend!
Everything was set up to help our stay be enjoyable. The fenced back yard was great for our pets. The heated toilet seats a plus. TVs in every room. Plenty of blankets and pillows. The home was very clean. The wild life was wonderful including deer hawk cardinals. We were close to shopping food restaurants. We had a very pkeasant stay!! Thank you.
Couldn’t have asked for a better home or host! Doug was a 5 star host from booking through checkout. In fact, he even went out of his way to drop off jumper cables for my rental car’s dead battery. That’s going above and beyond. The house itself was just perfect for what my group of friends needed. Spacious, clean, and cozy. The drive into DT Athens wasn’t bad at all. Ubers were always available within 10 minutes too. The setting was perfect for a Deep South experience, nestled in the woods with a running creek to enjoy your morning coffee to. Thanks again Doug.
Great host and great accommodations. Location close to UGA and grocery stores, restaurants, and the like. Awesome experience and would definitely stay here again.
I had the honor and pleasure of staying here for the last four months for work. It was such an amazing place to come "home" to after a long, hard day.
You can hear the brook 24 hours a day, especially from the screened porch off the kitchen. Watch the dear eating from the bay window in the front. It is pure magic.
Doug was an amazing host who addressed any any all my needs. He was reachable and kind and attentive.
The area was peaceful and still close to town, best of both worlds.
I could go on for days. Don't stay here, I'm afraid the house will be booked for the next time I'm in town.
10/10.
Thanks Doug!
We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this home. We were in town for my daughter's graduation from the University of Georgia, and it was so nice to have a home to hang out in rather than being in hotel rooms. We were comfortable and able to spread out. Also, it is far enough out in the country to be quiet and away from the busyness of Athens, but you can be downtown in 15 minutes. Douglas was easy to get a hold of and quick to answer any questions. He is an excellent host, and I would highly recommend his home to other friends and family.
This cozy house was a tranquil space to come home to after a hectic day at work. The sound of the brook, the screened in porch and the bay window. If I come back for work again, this will be the first call I make!
I was beyond impressed with this home. It met all of my expectations plus some. We loved making s’mores over a fire by the creek. The owner was very personable and helpful when we needed anything. I look forward to booking this Vrbo for years to come! Thank you! ❤️
The house is amazing. Comfortable and the owner is excellent. The change I would make is to change the grill. Because it doesn't work well. But my whole family feels at home.

We immediately felt comfortable at this property. When we arrived there was a herd of deer in the side yard and we loved watching them in the mornings and evenings. This home had plenty of sitting areas and would nicely accommodate families with different ages. It had everything we needed for our family to spend Thanksgiving together. The heated toilet seats were always a nice addition!
What a great place to stay with friends while visiting UGA for our daughter’s sorority Parent’s Weekend! The house was perfect to share with friends, the screened in porch was a great place to catch up on some work and the kitchen was great for preparing dishes for the weekend. Our daughter’s favorite spot was the window seat in the front of the house where she napped in the sunshine. We will definitely consider David’s place for a future visit.
Clean, comfortable and spacious home with a great host
We stayed at this home when visiting our son at UGA. The home is very comfortable with lots of space, and is close to grocery stores and a handful of fast food and sit down restaurants. The 15-20 minute drive to UGA was easy enough, although a little far to go back and forth multiple times a day. Douglas was very responsive to questions and seemed genuinely interested in ensuring that we had a great stay. We would stay here again on a future trip.
We had extended family join us for the 2023 Home Opener. The house was exactly what we needed for our large group - including teens and adults. The house has tons of space along with all the amenities you need. There were numerous sleeping options with plenty of blankets and pillows. Douglas was very quick to reply to any questions we had. We would absolutely stay here again.
This place was perfect. My short stay included myself and my 3 daughters. There was plenty of space for everyone to stretch out and also several comfortable places for us to congregate. Every where we looked we discovered something visually interesting between both the architecture and the artwork. We loved that this space felt more like coming home versus being just a crash pad. I'm looking foreword to booking again when family comes to visit.
My brothers and I stayed here for two weeks with our families, and it was perfect! Cozy, warm and inviting, with plenty of space indoors and out. The interior decor was beautiful- loved all the inspo pics that doubled as wall art.
We had 3 families: 6 adults and 6 kids ranging from 9-17 years old - all with varying sleep schedules and living preferences. Parents slept on the top floor & the rooms on the bottom floor were perfect for the cousins to have their own space. The twin room off the primary was a nice bonus. There were more than enough blankets & linens for everyone.
The living room/den off the entrance was my fave- lots of light, a cozy bay window seat, a couple guitars and a cabinet full of board games.
The screened-in porch was the parents' hangout at night, while the kids had 3 TVs to enjoy a movie, video games, etc. As others noted, the internet was awesome --handled remote work (ie, video calls) plus streaming/gaming apps just fine.
The kitchen came with everything we needed: multiple options for making coffee, plenty of dishes, utensils and food storage. It was hot, so the ice maker & AC were much appreciated.
The kids were bummed that the swing was knocked down during a recent storm and no basketball hoop, but the giant yard was perfect for relay races, sports and lawn bowling. We were in awe of the multiple deer sightings!
The owner, Doug, was great -- he responded quickly to my gazillion questions and checked in on us. Truly an unforgettable family reunion!
This house is located very close to downtown Athens and UGA. Owner is very responsive and easy check in and out. Lots of outdoor space and a screened in porch to hang out in. My teen told me the WiFi connection was insane- apparently no lagging in games. I will forewarn if you have teens there aren’t tvs in three of the bedrooms but they have a large tv in the basement area with 3 futons. Great place to stay overall!
I rented this home for my daughter's bachelorette weekend. The property is gorgeous and well kept. There is plenty of room in the home. The property outside is gorgeous with deer and wildlife. We enjoyed ourselves so much. Every morning, I enjoyed the window seat with a coffee looking out over the wooded yard. The toilet seats must be mentioned! The bathrooms have bidets with nice, toasty warm toilet seats. I'm so glad I chose this home - it was an amazing place to stay!
We loved this property. It looked exactly like the photos--very clean, spacious, relaxing seating areas, plenty of beds. You can hear the babbling brook from the bedrooms and it is so restorative. The decor is wonderful, too. Interesting art, streamlined design, nice vibe. Also, there is a screened-in porch where you can enjoy the trees and the creek. Also, Doug was extremely responsive and always available to answer questions and do whatever he could to make our stay terrific--which it was.

About the host

My wife and I fell in love with Athens when our Daughter and son in law moved there to attend UGA. We decided to buy a home there and since have added this stunning home as a retreat for weary travelers. We love the brook that runs past the home providing fish and music from the fall of the water outside the screened in poarch. While we don't live in Athens we love this retreat when we do come to visit our friends and relatives, as well as attending our favorite sports facilities at UGA.
Why they chose this property
We love the feeling of being out in the woods yet just minutes from shopping, entertainment and UGA. We love watching the many deer that live in the area stroll through our property to eat the grass or take a cool sip from our stream.
What makes this property unique
Lots of room to roam and explore a wood like setting, hike, camp and enjoy Mother Nature while being close to town.
