About this property

Rustic Mountain Cabin w/ Hot Tub, Outdoor Fireplace & Cozy Loft

Thank you for considering Bear Cabin Escape. This cabin will be perfect for you if:

• You enjoyed wildlife, nature, and the mountains
• You’re comfortable staying in a relatively remote area
• You enjoy amenities like fast Wi-Fi, outdoor fireplace, and multiple areas to relax

This may not be the best place for you if:

• You do not have 4WD for the winter months
• You need it to be “AC cold” in the summer months
• You would like to be walking distance to amenities

For the best possible experience, please read the full description as it contains many important notes to understand before booking. We want to make sure that our home is right for you!

We purchased this property for our family to use and would also like to be able to share the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina with others.

With the above being said, we understand that the mountains are a unique experience. Here are some things to consider prior to booking:

- 4WD/AWD is essential in the winter. We are open all year round and some of the most beautiful times to visit us is in the winter with a fresh snowfall. The roads as well as our driveway really do require four-wheel drive-in winter months. Most of the roads leading to the house are paved but the final stretch is gravel road that isn’t constantly maintained and plowed. During the winter months we do recommend travel insurance if you don't feel comfortable driving during inclement weather.

- The property is not equipped with AC. Due to the climate in the mountains we have found it is not necessary and most homes do not have AC. We have found that on the days that it does get warmer if the windows are open and guests use the fans that we have provided then the temperature does come down. If you need it to be AC cold in summer months, we may not be right for you.

- Our property is deep in the mountains. It is mainly paved roads to the property but the final stretch to get to the home is gravel roads that are narrower than most roads. If you are in the right vehicle, and you take your time the roads are very navigable, and you should have no issue. If you are not interested in navigating windy roads and you are looking for a completely paved road to your destination, we may not be the place for you.

- Please don’t hesitate to ask questions prior to booking. We want to make sure that our expectations for this visit are aligned and that you thoroughly enjoy your stay.

More details about our cabin:

Our rustic home provides a perfect balance of relaxation, activities, nature and more. When going to the mountains we believe you should enjoy the amenities the mountain offers. There are plenty of hiking trails in the area as well as places to do your other favorite outdoor activities.

If you want to just stay at the house this is the perfect place to relax. Seating in the backyard with a table to enjoy meals or just relax. Make full use of the outdoor fireplace if you want to stay warm during the winter or if you just want to roast marshmallows. Inside the home we have plenty of amenities for your use:

There is a large dining room table that comfortably seats 4 as well as 2 more seats at the breakfast bar. Use the wood burning stove to warm up the home and enjoy the fire while having dinner or your morning coffee.

The kitchen has all the essential and then some. There is a range, full size refrigerator, and a brand-new large microwave. All the dishes, pots and pans, cooking utensils, and other kitchenware is provided. We have a drip coffee pot (just bring filters and your favorite coffee) as well as blender.

The main living room is the perfect place for you and your loved ones to get together and relax. Cozy up with the faux fireplace heater that has a flat screen TV on top with a Roku for all your streaming needs. The brand-new sectional is extremely comfortable and has plenty of room for 4 people. Lastly there is a small desk in the corner so that if you want to get some work done but still be around everyone else you can be.

The downstairs bed and bath area is equipped with a brand-new queen bed. The bedroom has a closet with hangers provided if you would like to hang up any of your clothes. Just across the hall is the full bathroom. We provide all the linens you would need as well as a hairdryer.

In the upstairs you have a separate seating area with its own couch an TV, which is also equipped with a Roku. This area can be used for getting away to relax by yourself and read or a place for the kids to be separate from the rest of the family if desired. In the bedroom you have a king-sized bed with a full-sized dresser.

Provided for your stay are:

Towels
Soap
Shampoo
Conditioner
Dishwashing liquid
Firewood
Hairdryer
Iron
Fans

We do allow pets at the property. There is a one time non-refundable pet-fee of $100 and we allow up to a max of 2 dogs.

We own other properties in the mountains so no need to worry as we will always do our best to take care of you. Our guests also have access to several of our mobile phones for quick and easy access to us. We hope you enjoy our home as much as we do and please don’t hesitate to ask us any questions, advice, or suggestions.

Relaxing Getaway

We had a really lovely time hiking in the area and then coming back to the cabin to relax. Sitting in the hot tub surrounded by flowers, hummingbirds, and butterflies. It was a great getaway.

Weekend in Burnsvilles

We really enjoyed our stay. We saw a bear the first morning at the house and loved that we could bring our dogs. The backroads are beautiful and we loved the town of Burnsville and the artist community in Celo.

Bear cabin

Overall we had a great time! Beautiful area with lots to see and explore! The cabin was great, clean and quiet. The host was excellent and very responsive to the issue we had. The property has a neighbor who is really close but we only saw him once in the week we were there. Definitely 5 stars and speaking of the stars, the view from the hot tub was great!

Cool cabin in the cool woods

We wanted a nice getaway from heat and humidity and we found it. The cabin is located in the mountains where it was 15-20 degrees cooler than our home area. We found some great hikes, saw some wildlife and had a nice relaxing time. Recommended!

About the host

Hosted by Joe Bafia

Host profile image
After owning other cabins in the town of Mars Hill, we decided to branch out and expand since we love the mountains so much. Burnsville is another mountain town that allows you to enjoy the beauty of Western North Carolina. We are hoping to share out love of the mountains with everyone else.

Why they chose this property

We wanted a place that was away from the hustle of the big cities. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area but ultimately we wanted to have a place to get away from the commotion. Asheville is approximately an hour away which makes day trips very feasible and feel like mini vacations while we are already on vacation.

What makes this property unique

You are able to get the mountain feel and the privacy but you are not completely removed for civilization. The home gives you the rustic feel but has modern features to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Plenty of room to spread out if desired but also wonderful communal areas inside and outside of the house to make memories with your loved ones.
