Great potential, but fell flat.
This review is strictly about the home itself, and not so much the host. He was easy to get in contact with and communication was quick. However, this home needs a lot of work and our stay was less than ideal. Positive notes are, the front porch was a great place to hang, the mountain scenes were beautiful and it felt secluded. Unfortunately there were still a lot of inconveniences. The toilet downstairs had plumbing issues during our entire stay. We were unable to use it and had to clean up leaks because the wax ring is broken. Host called a plumber and we had to deal with that. The fridge upstairs did not get below 50 degrees because the coils are frozen over and broken. Luckily there is a fridge downstairs. The dryer only does air dry, we could not get it to heat. There are “fire gone” canisters are expired by over two years, which is a safety concern. Water stains on basement ceiling. The creek that runs behind the home was dried up. We’re not locals, so had no way of knowing to expect anything different from the listing. The hot tub was part of the listing when we booked and host neglected to tell us it would not be available to use, until the day we arrived. Overall, there are a lot of things that need to be fixed and of course everyone’s standards are different. But for us, when we pay for something and expect basic amenities and don’t get them, it feels disappointing.

Beautiful home
The property was perfect for our family. The area was beautiful. My favorite part is that the atmosphere of the area is slow-paced. The home was quiet and felt secluded. The views were beautiful. The host was accommodating. Local grocery store is a bit pricey being in a rural area, but what groceries aren’t these days. There are “bigger” stores 20 miles away. The only thing I would add to the property is a casserole pan, as I made Easter dinner and didn’t have one (that I found) Other than that, the kitchen and home had every thing we needed. We would absolutely return to the area and this home in a heartbeat. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

Excellent location!
Perfect for our family of four (with 2 teenagers) with room to spread out! Great location to attend a family wedding at Chileen’s (right there at the exit) as well to explore all points north and quick drive into Phoenix area. Nice home in a quiet area and excellent communication with owner. Garrett is very responsive to questions and accommodating. We enjoyed some time in the game room! We will stay here again when in the area.

Roomy, attractive, comfortable house
The house was very comfortable and perfect for our needs though we didn’t use nearly all the rooms available. Especially loved the huge covered porch and private fenced yard - our dog was very happy here too! If you want upscale, this isn’t the place. But if you want casual, comfortable, easy-living, this place can’t be beat!

Great Stay
Great place, quiet and clean. Very private. Even though there wasn't water running, it was fun to walk along the river bed. House was nice, game room was super fun. Everything was very, very clean and super comfortable.

Wonderful Experience
Great getaway, easy access from I-17, lots of parking. The house was clean and well appointed. We wound up with 10 in our group and had room for more. I had trouble finding the key pad to access the house, and the host called me back immediately. We never ran out of hot water, inspite of back to back showers for a number of us (plenty of towels. But, European style, you may want to bring your own wash cloths, lol.) The kitchen had pretty much anything we needed for meal prep. Beds slept well. Sitting on the deck drinking our coffee in the cooler mornings was relaxing, with wonderful views - we got to see some wildlife, even! The younger ones (and some of us older ones, lol) enjoyed the game room - a nice feature not often found, I'd imagine. Overall, a great experience (my first VRBO), and I would hope if I ever make it back to AZ, that we could stay there again! For basically, what could have been hotel accommodations for 4, we were able to take care of 10, but much more comfortably, and with more amenities. It worked fantastically!!

Review
Great for our big group with kids and dogs - but only had 2 bathrooms. Was super happy to have game room and sectioned areas when a quiet place was needed. The kitchen was small and neither ice maker worked, beds and bedding uncomfortable and gate easily unlatched. Toilet periodically made high pitched noise.

Great place!
The house looked just like the pictures! The creek was empty so the kids were able to play out on the creek bed. We were in town for a wedding at Chilleens on 17. This house couldn’t have been in a better location for attending a wedding there. Garrett was very responsive anytime I had a question and made sure we were comfortable. If we come back to AZ we would definitely stay here again!

Very good stay.
Our stay was very nice, Garrett was a fantastic host. The home was clean, quiet and very comfortable. The wifi available was adequate. And my wife was able to work from the location when needed. There were games and stuff for the kids to do and they asked to stay longer but unfortunately we couldn't. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a nice secluded and quiet home with a fantastic view! We will be staying here again if we are in the area again!

Why they chose this property

Born and raised in Black Canyon City for about 20 years, this community holds a special place for me and my childhood. Most of my and my wife's family reside in this region of Arizona and is a community we visit multiple times a year. When I was able to acquire the capital, I knew I wanted to invest into fixing homes in my old community to revitalize portions of the neighborhood. Short-term renting became appealing to be able to bring travelers into this community to boost it economically while advertising it's rural charm and convenient travel location relative to Arizona's natural scenic treasures.
