About this property
Beautiful Classic ~FL~ Home/Across Street from Dedicated Beach unobstructed view
No elevators or waiting to get to the beach, no hordes of strangers - just a little bit of paradise. Beautiful peaceful 'Laguna Beach, est. 1936'... directly on Front Beach Road across from the warm Gulf of Mexico and magnificent sunsets! Gorgeous 180 deg unobstructed view of gulf but only a short distance from all the downtown action. We take great pride in our home. Sit on the patio or deck and read a book. We have rocking chairs inside and out. Watch the sunset from the sun room or the front yard. Swim the emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico, stroll the pristine white sandy beach, or kick back and relax. Enjoy cooking in the full kitchen or outdoor grill with dining on the outdoor patio and watch while the kids play in the large front yard with plenty of room for badminton. Also enjoy a large screen TV with satellite, including player. Book the house for a very special family reunion - we even held weddings and receptions on the front lawn.

We stay in this house every year and have been for several years. One of the reasons is that they let us bring our dog. The house is very comfy, not fussy. It’s not appointed with all the bells and whistles like some higher priced places. But we like that Because we feel very comfortable there
There were 3 generations of us and we all loved the house and area. We just walked across the street and there was the beautiful ocean. The house was roomy and comfortable. Hope to go again.
Ten Days of great fun and enjoyment from the thirty somethings with small pooches to Gramps aged 97 we had a great time at the beach! Great Location with groceries a block away and the famous Thomas Donut shop within easy reach. Perfect Beach right across the street and no obstructing homes to block the view of the water! All Good. Five Stars.
Everything was just like the description says. The sleeping arrangements worked out perfectly for our group. Would highly recommend this rental to friends/family.
Our family loves this home because it is so comfy. It doesn't have all the fancy things that newer homes or condos have but that's perfect for us and our 2 dogs! The owner is very resposive and cordial. We've been staying here for years and will contnue to return each year. The view is beautiful of the beach and ocean! Just sit in the front yard and take it all in!
Place was great and clean, location perfect, only gripe is the water system needs to be looked at as both showers hot water goes from hot to cold, then hot to cold and so on.
The location of the house can’t be beat. It was so nice being directly across from the beach access. The house was clean and equipped with everything you need. My only real issue was that there did not appear to be fire alarms in the bedrooms, which is an issue when you have your small child sleeping alone in a room with door closed. Overall, we had a great trip and we would stay again. Thank you!

What a find!!!
I had the great fortune of staying in this house with my family and mother-in-law in June! What a wonderful relaxing time. It was very hard to leave. The proximity to the ocean made our vacation a dream come true. The owners were very easy to get a hold of and if there was any issue they sent someone immediately to take care of it. We had a great time, and would definitely stay here again! What a gem!
This is our second consecutive year staying here for a reason ! The home is very comfortable & accommodating. The back yard is spacious for our two small dogs as well. The sand & Gulf of Mexico are directly across the street. Thomas Donuts is approximately 50 feet to the left & the Carousel Grocery store is approximately 50 yards to the right. If needed Publix & Walmart are only minutes away. Also, there are soooo many restaurants nearby to even name as well a seafood market. We love this place !!!! We hope to return next year !!
Had a great time! House could use some repairs. Roof leaked, a/c vents dripped water, direct TV was intermittent with service and the back door was extremely hard to open and close!
This is an older house but met our needs. Originally my son-in-law, daughter, and son were supposed to come with me but it wound up just being our daughter that got to come. The king sized bed was very comfortable ( I would love the mattress for my own!). The only thing I didn’t like was the parking. There isn’t a lot of room if you have two vehicles. This house is next door to Thomas donuts which was a plus! While we didn’t get donuts we did walk over one evening for ice cream and ordered a pizza another evening( best pizza ever!). It is also at the quieter end of Front Beach Road so beach isn’t as crowded and there’s less traffic.Overall a very nice place to stay.
Overall,we had a great stay. Owner allowed an early check in since the cleaning staff had already completed, which we greatly appreciated. The house was nice, well stocked, and accomodated our party of 4. All bedrooms are upstairs (which I wasnt aware of) so if you have any guests with limited mobility, beware. I am only 5 weeks post op hip replacement, so the stairs were challenging. The upstairs bedrooms were difficult to cool, so consider bringing fans to help. Location is good. Owner was having new metal roof installed during our stay, so things were in disarray on the exterior for our first two days, but nothing that prevented us from enjoying the beach. The front yard and sunroom were super nice. This is an older home and does have some quirky details that you'll need to know about (hot water regulating for showers, bedroom ceiling fan) but the owner communicated those things to us and we didn't have any issues. We would stay here again! Thanks again Mr. Chamberlain for letting us stay at your lovely cottage!
Perfect location. Two doors down from Thomas 🍩, 1 block away from a grocery store, across the street from the beach, and walking distance to Alvin's. Home was cozy. Enjoyed the sunset from the front yard. Plenty of sitting inside to watch TV or eat in the kitchen/dining room. One down fall is the dishwasher does not work. Tried to call one of the numbers that was given, left a message, and no returned call back. If we came back to Panama City Beach, this would be my first choice. Thank you for allowing my family to stay in your home. You have a lovely home!!!
We had a wonderful time at Paz de Mar. it was just like being at home. We didn’t need anything; just our own beach towels and groceries. And groceries were just down the road. A little closer to “home”...fresh donuts!!!
We’ve usually stay “beachfront” on our Florida vacations, but this warm house just across the street-with NO obstructed views-was very nice.
You really could bring 10 people and stay here...and everyone would be comfortable. There are plenty of places to spread out comfortably and be lazy. The glassed-in sunroom with those fabulous folding blinds was delightful. The front porch outside is great for catching late afternoon breezes and people watching.
Now even though we were there close to Memorial Day, we never felt crowded or surrounded. It’s a settled area, great neighbors.
The beds are comfortable. The home decor cozy and friendly. The a/c worked just right.
For laundry, the washer and drier are top-notch. There’s even a weight scale in the bathroom!
There was just great peace and comfort here. Everyone in our family needed a break, needed to just “chill”....mission accomplished. Thanks to our hosts for opening their HOME up to us!
What's perfect for others wasn't for us. We had a family gathering so a large group young to old. Something I feel needs to listed in the description on VRBO-
No bedrooms on the bottom floor. Both my parents have mobility issues late 70s and sleeping on a pull out couch isn't an option.
Also washing your sheets before you leave. This wouldn't have been a big deal if we only had a couple to wash. I get it, it's time consuming but we couldn't figure out a way to wash the sheets used and get out by the time we needed to leave in the morning so we left the evening before.
Also if you have someone who prone to tripping, there are several uneven places on the floor so mind your step. We had several trip and thankfully not fall coming from one side of the kitchen to the other.
You can REALLY hear the traffic from front beach road in the front bedrooms upstairs. Earplugs solved that but just an FYI.
The yard is FANTASTIC! We really enjoyed sitting out there people watching and the kids playing. The grass is really amazing, no stickers.
The sun room was our favorite room in the house.
No problems with the AC for us. There's 3, one in the sun room, one up and down and it was 103 degrees. We didn't use much in the kitchen, we kept it pretty simple since we had so many but it seemed very well stocked. Fridge and microwave worked. Didn't use the dishwasher. Nice they had soap, toilet tissue and paper towels already there in place. Waking to the beach and Thomas donuts was easy and nice.

About the host
Hosted by Al Chamberlain
We moved to the northern Virginia area in 1985 after spending 4 and 12 (respectively) great years in Seattle. We met in 1981 and both had connections to Panama City Beach, Florida. Al lived in Mobile, Alabama in the ‘60s and traveled to PCB for vacation and his son graduated from Florida State in the nineties, which brought us back; Ginger grew up between Birmingham, Alabama and Seattle, Washington and always traveled to PCB to visit family living in the area. It seemed to be a no brainer to choose this area for our vacation home. We came upon this Beautiful Historic Cottage in 2002 after checking every beach property from Fort Morgan to Apalachicola - some 200 miles. We were truly blessed when we found this beautiful spot on God’s great earth. Ginger passed away on October 4, 2019 after a long battle with Cancer, she is so dearly missed every day.
Why they chose this property
We love the beauty of this area. The weather is delightful. The people are friendly and welcoming. Just a beautiful place to come. Plus our puppies love it here!
