About this property

Casita Contenta | Enclosed Yard, Covered Patio

This charming pueblo-style home has “content” right in the name, and it deserves to, because Casita Contenta gives you the best of both worlds! On the one hand, you get to enjoy lovely, peaceful, and natural surroundings. On the other, you're just a short distance from experiencing firsthand the amazing architecture of Santa Fe Plaza and the original Spanish Market Square, the 17th Century Palace of the Governors, the New Mexico Museum of Art, the Loretto Chapel with its unusual spiral staircase winding up to the choir loft and more! Conveniently located near historic downtown Santa Fe, this two-bedroom, two bath home also gives you easy access to the nearby pueblos, where you can immerse yourself in the rich Native American history and culture of one of the country's most unique areas.

Ideal for smaller families or two couples traveling together, this small yet spacious home is located on Santa Fe's historic east side and built in Santa Fe's distinctive Pueblo Revival style. With wood floors, comfortable furniture, lots of light and a viga ceiling, Casita Contenta’s bright living room is a great place to hang out. A cable HDTV provides the entertainment, or you can take advantage of the free Wi-Fi to surf the web or check out the local attractions while you plan your day's adventures. Santa Fe has a plethora of wonderful restaurants and coffee shops, but if you feel like having a night in, Casita Contenta’s colorful and complete kitchen is ready to accommodate you. Fully equipped with stainless steel appliances and all the cookware, utensils and dishes you’ll need, you’ll be able to prepare anything from an elaborate meal to a toasted jalapeno bagel and cup of coffee. A separate dining room with fireplace is a great place to enjoy your meals (or a lively board game), or you can enjoy your dinner outside on the covered brick patio while you enjoy the beautiful, private garden.

You’ll want to be well rested for all the great hiking opportunities the area has to offer, and Casita Contenta’s comfortable bedrooms (each furnished with queen-size beds) can help you with that. Stocked with fresh, fluffy towels, both brilliantly tiled full bathrooms mean you won't have to wait in line to shower. As for the primary bath, it’s like a private stall with a large soaking tub and separate walk-in shower!

Proof that convenience and charm can go hand-in-hand, Casita Contenta is the perfect base of operations for your Santa Fe getaway. So don’t let it get away from you—book your stay for your best Southwestern vacation today! Please be advised that there are two friendly, Giant Schnauzers that have free roam through out the property.

Lovely oasis

We enjoyed staying in this lovely house near Museum Hill. Casita Contenta is more a Casa! Very roomy. Checking in and out is cumbersome through a property manager, requiring an additional stop.

Casita HEAVEN!!

This casita home is an absolute dream! The property itself is beautiful, and from the moment you walk in the door you feel right at home. If you get to meet the owners of the main home, they are incredibly kind and welcoming. All around 5/5 stars- a true little slice of HEAVEN!

Beautiful & cozy property near everything we wanted!

I took a trip to Santa Fe with a friend to relax and enjoy the area. This property did not disappoint in any way. It was spacious, clean, well-stocked and less than 10 minutes from every restaurant, museum and gallery we wanted to visit. The owners were lovely and friendly, but not at all intrusive. I would absolutely stay here again. It was perfect for traveling with a friend as well, because each bedroom had its own private bathroom.

Not worth it

While the location was perfect for the wedding we attended, and it is a spacious home - we were very disappointed. I have stayed in worse short term rentals, but I’ve never had such a disconnect from expectation (especially given what we paid) and reality. 1. Our biggest issue was the dogs. There was nothing in the description that said there were dogs on the property. Once we checked in we were notified by the rental company saying there were two friendly dogs in the main house. I am a dog person and these were not friendly dogs - they barked aggressively and ran up to us every time we were outside. They also started barking at 6 am when they were let out. My father who stayed with us is not a dog person and was VERY put off. If you are afraid of dogs or have small children DO NOT stay here. 2. We were under the impression we had private use or the yard. That is what the description led us to believe. It is shared with the main house which would have been fine if not for the dogs (see above). We brought our 2 month old and pretty much booked this place so we could sit outside with him in the yard. Not possible with these dogs outside. 3. The master bedroom bed frame was broken and we had to move the mattress to the floor. The other mattress was incredibly uncomfortable. 4. There were no screens on windows which made it hot, and we couldn’t leave the doors open because of the dogs. 5. There were no mattress pads on beds 6. Coffee machine was tiny for 4 people

Parking and location

The property is awesome. It would have been helpful to have additional information on distance to attractions including nearby hiking trails. The property was very clean, but simple things in the kitchen were limited. Example if you provide a coffee maker provide the filters. There were also zero games or puzzles in the property. Part of the fun of a VRBO is seeing what family games are available .

Very nice home. Not walking distance from downtown.

Needed a 3 bedroom or 3 beds. Dije confusion with another property with the same name that did have 3 beds. Kokopelli very accommodating with confusion. Large dog. - beautiful dog.

Relaxing weekend

This was just the place for a fun and relaxing weekend. The casita was in a private area behind a main house with beautiful landscaping and lots of trees. Everything about this property was warm and inviting. The location was close to town and many other venues. I’m planning on coming back in the future!

Excellent property manager, bare bones rental

We booked this rental for our son's wedding. While the location and building were beautiful, it was lacking in so many amenities that we would have been better off in a hotel. I contacted the property manager after our first night, upset that there was no toaster, microwave, or iron and ironing board. He apolpgozed and made sure we had those things that day. This was enough for us to finish the stay because we were out of the rental most days, and ate elsewhere for lunch and dinner. If I had wanted to do any cooking I would have found the kitchen completely insufficient. I believe the property manager would have made sure to bring me cooking tools had the need arisen. It was clear the property manager was trying their best, but was limited by the property owner. As for the property itself, there were gardeners on the property for 3 of the 5 days of our stay. They were respectful, but the rental had absolutely no window coverings, not even in the bedroom or the bathrooms. Privacy was a huge issue because of this. There were no fans in the rental, and none of the windows or doors were screened, so we were uncomfortable at night. The bed in the main bedroom was hard and uncomfortable for me, and we ended up sleeping in separate rooms. We both came back from the trip tired from lack of sleep. The second bathroom was tiny, with no towel racks or toilet paper holder, and you needed to be a bit of a Houdini to sit on the toilet. We were asked to park near the street, but the rental was in the back of the property, so there was a short walk to the rental. This was not an issue during the day, but we needed a flashlight in order to navigate the steps and uneven ground to the rental at night. Because we were not permitted to park on the paved driveway near the (apparently) unused garage, moving luggage in and out of the car, which was in the gravel drive, was dufficult. The only reason I gave 3 stars for our stay was the stellar property management company. Otherwise, I would have given 1 star.

Magazine worthy but missing a few basic amenities

Beautiful to look at but missing a few amenities. No toaster, no microwave, no window coverings. Every room had motion detectors which was unnerving to say the least.

This spacious casita was recently remodeled and was very well done and the grounds are beautiful. Kokopelli Realty, the host, fell short with a delay in getting the arrival information to us, which was a tough start (2 hours to get in). The host should also be sure that the timer for the outdoor lighting is set properly (very dark during the winter months) and they should be sure that there is a toaster, a microwave and/or a toaster oven. An icemaker and laundry washing machine/dryer would also be a real plus.

Beautiful casita

Had a lovely 3 days in this serene area of Santa Fe- truly special. A few things that would have been nice to have: a larger coffee maker, luggage racks, someplace to put toiletries in the smaller bathroom, a tea kettle and an outside light by the garage doors. We did meet the gorgeous Giant Schnauzer Jake- would love to return to this lovely casita!!!

NOT ready for rental!!

This beautiful property is NOT ready to rent. The property did not have a key pad or lock box access. Instead we had to make a trip to Kokopelli Property Manager to get keys and return them. We were then told that if we have any trouble do not use the phone number foe emergency contact as no one answers on the weekend. Also, we were told the property owner had a very large dog (Giant Schnauser) which shared the yard where the casita was located, but was generally friendly. This dog charged two of us and was definitely not friendly. The keys we were given did not operate any of the locks. However, none of the doors locked, so we were able to gain ebtry, but not secure the property. The french doors to the patio didn't have a lockset. We were told we would be responsible if damage resulted from not locking doors and windows. We parked where the property manager instructed us; a few hours later the irrigation system soaked our vehicle. The system must use well water with a high mineral content as our paint was etched with white stains - washing and waxing have not completely removed the stains. The property does not have a microwave, which is almost a necessity when traveling. There were only 4 place settings of flatware - an inconvenience necessitating washing dishes after every meal. The Bedrooms each contain security occupancy sensors, which flash red and green every time you move at all keeping us awake much of the night. Why these are needed in the Bedrooms, rather than in a hallway is unclear. We placed a cover over the sensors to get sleep on the second night. As it stands now, this property should NOT be on the VRBO site at all. We will never book through this property manager again!

Beautiful place but missing the basics

Absolutely beautiful casita, location was great. I wonder if it's a first time rental and they hadn't thought everything through. It was missing very basic essentials: 2nd bedroom/bathroom: -no lamps on bedside table -no hairdryer anywhere - not in either bathroom! (by the way, it 's listed as 2.5 bath but only has 2, which was fine for us but mis-leading). -no towel racks or toilet paper holder - everything had to be on the tiny vanity, not much bigger than the sink itself -no shelf or anything to hold a bar of soap in shower -a full length mirror would have been nice (not in either bedroom, master bedroom didn't have a mirror at all, only the bathroom) - flat pillows and no extras (both bedrooms) Kitchen: no corkscrew/wine opener or bottle opener no can opener no microwave or toaster only a small 2 cup coffee pot (the 4 of us shared a tiny cup while 2nd pot brews) no teapot for heating water (and again no microwave to do it..) Ice maker in refrigerator did not make ice General safety/lighting (outside) -again BEAUTIFUL property, lots of privacy but walking from vehicle is dangerous at night. Lots of little steps, uneven pave stones and no lighting (the solar path-lighting did not work, had to use the flashlight on your cell phone) things we loved: Location…close to everything, but just far enough away from the commotion/traffic of the Plaza/Canyon Road, etc. Beautiful spaces, excellent craftsmanship throughout all rooms: tile work/floors/lay-out/fireplaces, etc. Gorgeous. Quiet, peaceful…thick adobe walls and casement windows were top-notch. Lovely porch and yard area; outstanding landscaping and maintenance. Security gates/privacy, A warm and welcoming environment, easy to check in and out. Groundskeepers (and big black dogs!) were very friendly.
