The Sundance Lake House overall is a very great stay with a great location and nice amenities. Plenty of room for large groups, with lots of areas to hang out inside or out. The dock is very nice and perfect if renting/bringing a boat for the stay. Only problem was we arrived and the house had not been cleaned but was able to get in contact with host immediately who was very kind and refunded our cleaning fee.
Kitchen was very well stocked. House to dock was super steep for all ages. House could use some maintenance and better Matteress on all beds. Family really enjoyed the lake.
We come to Norris every other weekend through the Summer, but once or twice a Summer we rent a house for the week with friends. This house was perfect for our needs. The dock was one of the best we have ever stayed at and the kids really enjoyed swimming off the dock and exploring the cove on the kayaks. We were amazed with the photo book that showed the renovation and transformation of the house. We would definitely stay again.
We had a great time at Sundance. The house was clean, spacious and kitchen fully stocked with whatever you need to cook. The coffee and beverage bar was great with the beverage frig. We enjoyed several grilling nights on the deck. We loved the hot tube as well. The cove was so nice and calm. Spent a ton of time just floating and swimming off the dock. The slope down to the dock is a little steep but you have to expect that at this lake. It is nothing to complain about and we had no issues going up/down even carrying coolers. The view from the deck down to the cove is wonderful. Overall, we had the best time and recommend Sundance. Tony is a great host.
My family (ages ranging from 1-75) and I had a great time! We could not have asked for a better location between several marinas and jumping bridge. The lake dock was perfect for the 2 boats we brought down and for the kiddos to swim with floats that were brought!
The walk up and down is a thigh burner, but it is Norris and the elevation was expected- the concrete walk way was better for the older family members compared to stairs. We were able to park 1 trailer at the property, but was pretty difficult, it would be easier to park trailer at Deerfield marina.
The listing seems to indicate the new master room with bathroom was on the main floor, but it is actually upstairs on the 2nd level…..this ended up being fine but threw us off when trying to find the room LOL.
The house was clean minus cobwebs and the deck/walk way covered with debris, but it’s a lake house with a lot of trees around. We just had a family member bring a blower for outside deck/walkways and all was great! House was furnished well with staples and dishes we needed.
Thank you for a great trip, we would recommend and even book again!
We have been visiting Lake Norris for 20+ years; houseboats, floating houses, condos, etc. We are seasoned renters. My family owns a home on Cumberland and we love both lakes for different reasons. We love to have our boat directly on the water and wanted my sister and her family to experience life with immediate access to the lake. It turned out to be a great experience for them. Her kids are 5, 8 and 12 and they loved both jumping on the boat immediately or jumping off the boat slip and swimming when the boat was out on the lake. There were new challenges accomplished every day with pride! The house fit us all very well. The kitchen is truly stocked. I usually travel with my own kitchen bin and it sat unopened. The deck is nice and spacious for dinner, morning coffee, cards and evening chats. Having rented several houses with steep climbs, I found this one was not that much different. The section after the house stairs is at a steep angle with no steps but does have a hand railing. We all took it slower going down and naturally coming up, but all ages did fine. You do get use to the challenge. If there is someone that might have issues with climbing steep hills, you could possibly pick them up by the Tiki bar and drop them off. I think everyone finds their likes and dislikes of elements of places they rent. We greatly enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Beautiful view of the lake…
Had to ask for the code multiple times, had to call owner to get dining lights to come on, as the switch is wired wrong. He explained to us, while on the phone, that the main level bathtub faucet was broken, but still usable (knob completely gone) only small metal piece to use. Garbage all in cans and smelled, leaves were everywhere and a slipping hazard. Yes, it’s fall but you would think they would have been blown off the steps, deck and the outside table and chairs would be clean…do not expect that. Multiple outlets were hanging off the wall. Lots of plug ins throughout the home that masked other smells. We had to unplug them because they were so potent. The list could go on, but there is not that much room. Our family made the best of our trip and felt we left it in better condition than when we arrived. We straightened up, stripped the beds, took out all trash and even tried to sweep some leaves for the next person. I felt it was best not to leave a review and just move on. 10 days after our stay, I revive a notification that we are being billed $750 for a broken leg of a bed. What??? We broke nothing! I was shocked and immediately messaged the owner. I also read some of the reviews and see this possibility happened to another guest. I have yet to hear from the owner and have been advised by VRBO to leave a review and they will ask for proof, from the owner, if this claim.
The view is pretty and the property is a great value but please be careful renting from this owner.
Beautiful home, kids loved the kayaks and hot tub. Kitchen was well stocked. Walk to dock and fire pit is steep but this seems to be the norm from what we saw at surrounding homes. Everyone in our group, from a 4 year old to a 68 year old was able to do it but it will get your legs burning!
Very nice house and location. House met our needs. Owner answered several questions for us. Walk to water was a bit steep and more steps instead of path would have helped. I’m 35 and in shape. Nobody over 40 should be walking that incline in my opinion. Pics don’t show that well. Had two 60 year olds that did it but struggled.
House and location were great. We really enjoyed how close to the lake we were.

Beautiful scenery
We enjoyed our stay. The only complaint is the carpet wasn't very clean and we didn't receive our check-in info which had us driving around not able to find the property for a while. I called the owner and he then gave me the info so we could locate and open the door.
The amount of space for our family of 10 was perfect. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, cookware, dishes and spices. We were able to enjoy the hot tub everyday and enjoyed the view. I would recommend this house to for a large gathering, as it is very spacious and updated.
We stayed for our holiday gathering. (myself, husband, and three adult children with their spouses). The spaces were perfect for 4 couples. The house was clean, and the kitchen was well stocked. We even enjoyed the lake access, even though it is December...the weather was nice enough to take out our canoe.
The owner did not provide key code and since there was not cell service we had to drive back into town to contact him to get in. There was dirty pull-up diapers in the bathroom. Hair and makeup on the bed liens. No gas in the grill. Driveway and deck had not been maintained. Hot tub had not been maintained and other. We left the home with all trash removed and all lien in laundry and as directed. Ten days later the owner sent a bill to us for excessive cleaning fees and a picture of a soiled wash clothe, a bed cover, a drawer handle, a weather strip, a and leaving the door open. However, none of these things were excessive or our doing. As evidenced by the fact that we had our family Thanksgiving and Christmas at the house. We cleaned all our dishes, removed all trash, made up beds, locked the doors , double checked everything. The owner is relentless in sending us a large bill in retaliation of our sharing with them the problems we encountered.
Coming from Iowa and the drive up to the property was beautiful...a bit daunting with all the hills but breathtaking! The house was perfect for our needs. The big open floor plan allowed everyone the opportunity to hang out together and the deck on the back was beautiful to sit on and have coffee. One person in our party loved the screened in porch where they could watch the ground squirrels and birds. The dock was the perfect, quiet place to soak up some sun. The hot tub set up in the woods was amazing. And there were plenty of bedrooms/beds! A beautiful property!
We had a wonderful stay here for Fall Break. We loved the spacious and beautiful interior and outside lake access. We cooked most of our meals here in the house. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils and cookware. The owners were prompt with answering any questions that we had. When preparing for your stay, we would recommend that you purchase all of your basic necessities (i.e. groceries) on your way to the property. It is about a 30 minute drive from LaFollette to the property so it is not easy to make a quick run to pick something up. Also, be prepared for stairs. There are a number of stairs down to the front porch and also down to the boat dock. We loved our stay here and would definitely recommend it to others.
