A group of family members from three states stayed at Battle Rock for the Thanksgiving holiday. The location was perfect, the house was perfect, and the weather was perfect. The setup of the house was ideal for our group, beds and chairs were all very comfortable, and the kitchen was very well suited for multiple big meals being cooked by multiple people at the same time. Being right by the beach was great, and the king tides made it even more spectacular. Great tidepool creatures through the cave to the hidden side of battle rock.
Our family (three kids, ages 1-12, two parents, two grandparents) stayed in this lovely home in Port Orford for four nights in August. Our older kiddos loved the easy access to the beach via Battle Rock Wayside Park, and the hose outside made rising off easy after playing in the sand and water. The adults and entire group enjoyed staying within an easy stroll to several restaurants and an art gallery. We ate at Redfish and the Crazy Norwegian, and we were able to walk to a grocery co-op for groceries. The kitchen was well-equipped for staying in and cooking.
The beds were comfortable. As a few others commented, family members who stayed in bedrooms near the main road did hear a little bit of road noise but it didn't prevent them from sleeping well. At the other end of the house we didn't hear any road noise.
The water was COLD in Port Orford but that didn't bother our 9 and 12 year old. Overall, we had a lovely time staying in this home. If our travels ever bring us back to Port Orford we would love to stay here again.
This place has all the comforts of home and was very clean. Great places to eat very close by within walking distance. Great ocean views and very close to the beach. Once you are here you don't need a car if your goal is to just relax and take in the local atmosphere or take walks on the beach.
Cindy was a great host. Great Communication. Very receptive to our needs. She even baked us a great and super delicious pumpkin cake.
The house was super clean (my wife's level of cleanness clean :) ) and spacious. Great location. Very close to the beach.

I am a national designer - which brings me to projects all over the United States.
My father and mother purchased this building about 25 years ago. After my father's passing three years ago we decided to renovate the building this past Spring and Summer 2021. We opened the doors to the Battle Rock Beach House, (which is a four bedroom upper unit home that used to be used in the 1900's as a boarding house and old fashioned soda foundry), mid July of 2021. It has been an enjoyable experience to not only see the transformation of this space but also design with new furniture. The old world character and charm met with new world taste.
The view and location is hard to beat.
Why they chose this property
An old historic building that came alive in 2021 - why not share the joy to others?!!
What makes this property unique
One level living over looking the Battle Rock and the Pacific Ocean - very rare, private experience and location off of Hwy 101.
