With roots in both Costa Rica and Chicago, we understand the desire to get away sometimes and seek out peace and quiet! Pura Vida, or the good life, is the Costa Rican way. We invite you to get away from the city in our comfortable and welcoming, open-concept tiny home, located an hour drive outside of San Diego in Mount Laguna. Enjoy the queen-sized lofted bed where you will wake up to the beautiful view of tall pine trees and the sound of birds calling and woodpeckers digging for breakfast! The futon can be folded down and is convenient for a third traveler or even families with a couple of children. (Additional Air mattress can be provided upon request). You will be able to make breakfast of your own in our full kitchen. We also like to share the “Pura Vida” with you by providing delicious and authentic Costa Rican coffee for your enjoyment. If you prefer, you can even follow the instructions we left you to brew using a traditional Costa Rican pour over style! You can indulge in your meals at our indoor breakfast bar, looking out our large windows, or you might prefer to eat outside on the deck inside of the private, fenced in area.
Whether you are looking for a quiet, relaxing weekend with nothing to do, or you are an avid adventurer, Mount Laguna has it all! Feel free to take a nap on our hammock, play games with family/friends, or read in our lounge chairs. Nearby you will find several trails ranging from family-friendly short trails to more advanced and challenging hikes. A walk through the campground next door will even lead you directly to the Pacific Crest Trail, the best route for anyone who feels like walking from Mexico to Canada :) There are also several great mountain biking sites within a 10 minute drive of the house.
A drive into Pine Valley (15-20 mins) will give you the chance to try one of the best burgers in the area at The Frosty Burger, or you might take the 30 second walk over to the Pine House Cafe located on site (Open Thursday-Sunday for lunch and dinner). Make sure to stock up on drinks, firewood and food on your way up - you will be glad you did! After a long day of activities (or just relaxing!) you can grill out back in our yard and enjoy a bonfire while stargazing through the openings in the trees.
