We had a group of 9 of us, including 1 child, and we had an absolute blast at Fox Den! We loved cooking meals together in the enormous kitchen. The game room was awesome, and the views from the balconies were breathtaking. While we were there we visited Chena Hot Springs, North Pole, and we made a trip to the top of Murphy Dome to chase the Northern Lights....which were spectacular on the night we were there. We even saw them from the balcony of Fox Den on our last night in Fairbanks. Nicole was great to communicate with, and it's very clear that she and her husband enjoy hosting people in their lovely home. If we're ever back in Fairbanks, we will definitely come back to Fox Den. And I will most definitely recommend Fox Den to anyone I know who is visiting Fairbanks!
This home was perfect for our group of 5. Nestled out of the way, u never felt like anyone else was around. The home is as described. Spacious bedrooms helped us enjoy our stay without feeling cramped. The common areas were upstairs as is 1 bedroom. Above that is a loft with a bed but we never used that area. The downstairs (entry floor) has 3 bedrooms. The house did get warm on a few days but there were box fans to help circulate the air which helped a lot. We did catch the Northern Lights on our last night there which was amazing. We could see them outside at the front door and through the windows in the downstairs bedroom (the one with 2 beds). We only had two suggestions for this place: it’d be nice to have a half bath on the main floor (common area) and it’d be nice to have some spatulas to cook with (versus just pancake type). I know u can’t make a 1/2 bath happen overnight LOL. But it was something we would have preferred! Overall, we loved our stay here as our base camp for Denali (2 hour drive away) and just hanging out in Fairbanks. Also, I was super impressed that they have a Wii and an XBox with games! While we never had time to play those (we did play air hockey) I think other families would enjoy them. We would definitely stay here again.
This home is beautiful, spacious, clean with 5 star luxury! The beds are comfy and the view is amazing. Nicole is friendly and efficient as everything we needed was readily available! Highly recommend this 5 star stay. It is the best one we have stayed at anywhere to date.
Had an absolutely wonderful time here. Everything was so clean and spacious, with tons of games and activities to do. It was so cozy, we are already missing it! When we come to Fairbanks next it will be our go to spot.
House had a lot of space so our group on 9 wasn't on top of each other. Bed were all very comfortable. We didn't get to see the Northern lights while we were there but the trip was worth it.
My family and I stayed here for a week, for Christmas. This home is everything we wanted. Exceptionally clean, plenty of room for five people, with much room to spare. We found everything we needed in the kitchen. We saw the Aurora from the deck or front door almost nightly. We messaged the owner once to ask a question and they responded immediately. The view is breathtaking, and we never got tired of watching it. The heated garage was a game changer since it got down to-38°F. The house was always very comfortable temperature wise. If we are ever fortunate enough to get back to Fairbanks, this will definitely be our #1 choice for a rental.
This place was perfect for our family. We traveled w/a 3 and 1 year old and it was large enough we could stay in the master suite and allow the rest of our party to sleep soundly at night or just get away from them for awhile, ha. It was large and spacious and had all necessary accomodations. It's very well kept and the VIEW was EVERYTHING. Being able to use the garage was a great perk, too, especially w/the little ones! Highly recommend this place and if we ever come back we'll definitely look into staying here again. Communication w/Nicole was above par! Great, great, great place.
The house was beautiful, as advertised, and Nicole was very easy to work with. Plenty of room for my family of four, plus my son's friend. Thank you so much!
Nicole was a great host and the house was better than expected. An amazing place to rest our heads at the end of a long work day. It’s huge with amazing views of the Tanana River, moose feeding in the back yard, and a great deck with a grill to enjoy it all.
The property was beautiful and had all the amenities we needed, except for air conditioning! It was unfortunately unexpectedly so HOT and having only fans was difficult because we had to keep the curtains closed to keep the midnight sun out of the room but that minimized air flow. The owners provided box fans that helped tremendously but we our spoiled with Central Air. The house was amazing despite the views being affected by the smoke from the wildfires but we had an amazing trip and are grateful to the owners for opening up their home to guests.
We really enjoyed our vacation at the Fox Den in Fairbanks. From the instant I made the reservation, homeowner Nicole was friendly and helpful. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds comfortable, the radiant floor heating provided a consistent and cozy temperature. The view of the river was beautiful, especially with the snow. There were plenty of games and a couple of jigsaw puzzles to enjoy. The night we experienced the Northern Lights, we saw them when standing outside the front of the house. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

About the host
Hosted by Nicole Millam
Nicole is a retired teacher, and Jason is a structural engineer. After raising our family in Fairbanks, we decided to open Fox Den to travelers so they can enjoy all that Fairbanks and the surrounding area have to offer, while we travel and experience new adventures.
Why they chose this property
Fox Den is was custom built in 2007 by Jason, who is a structural engineer, and boasts large, custom windows, and a beautiful tongue and groove ceiling in the great room. This 4 bedroom, 3 bath home with sleeping loft features Arxx Block construction, radiant heat flooring, and multiple decks to enjoy the south-facing view.
What makes this property unique
Fox Den is located in a quiet, rural/residential neighborhood. You will have plenty of privacy on our 2-acre lot facing uninhabited woodlands. Moose roam the woods and frequently come into our yard to munch on willows or take a nap. We are away from city lights, making it a prime location for viewing the Aurora.
