About the host

We’ve done our time… We played the corporate game. We managed to escape those organizations with our health and souls very much intact. Now we’ve set out to create a new and exciting reality where we make the most of every day!
At our core, we are artists, writers, musicians, sculptors, astronomers, birders, nature enthusiasts and just generally kind-hearted folks.

Why they chose this property
We are inspired by the area; in awe of its natural beauty, its endless sunshine by day, dead-dark skies by night and its rich opportunistic history.
Although we’ve spent years here, we’ve never managed to run out of places to explore or things to do…
We bet you’ll agree!
Join us at Smugglers' Roost to Explore, Cre@te and Trade!

What makes this property unique
Smugglers’ Roost is located in Animas, NM, situated at the site of the infamous Clanton Gang’s hideout along Smuggler’s Trail. The community is positioned along the original Butterfield Overland Stagecoach Winter Route; a short two hour drive from Las Cruces , New Mexico or just 2.5-hours from either El Paso, Texas or Tucson, Arizona.
We are located in one of the most historic and stunningly beautiful regions of the Wild West; preserved in its authenticity, even today.
The area was once the stomping grounds of such infamous characters as “Curly Bill” Brocius, Billy the Kid, Johnny Ringo, Ike and Billy Clanton, Wyatt Earp and Doc Holiday, as well as the great Apache tribal leaders, Cochise and Geronimo.
Come EXPLORE the wealth of wide-ranging activities and natural amenities which include extraordinary, yet uncrowded state and national recreation areas, caves, mines, ghost towns, museums, historic locations, native sites, observatories, local wineries and micro-breweries.
