Spring break getaway

The property is old and needs a lot of maintenance. The AC cannot be lowered below 75F and would struggle if the temps were any higher than those when we stayed, which ranged between 75 and 78F. The appliances are old and the dishwasher did not work when we were there. The bedrooms are OK but the beds are quite soft so watch out if you have back problems. The front and side entrance stairs to the house are through stairs, which are separating from the porch at the front and kitchen door at the side of the house. We had a small child and she tripped a few times. The rear porch roof had missing parts exposing the porch completely and the porch enclosures (walls and screens) at both the front and.rear were in poor shape ( decaying, falling apart). The front porch entrance door did not close properly and if you are leaving the house, it bangs all day long in the wind ( I know because the adjacent unit’s porch door did it when they were out and we were at hone one day). The entrance to the property is really awkward if you are coming from the east. If you want to be safe, you should go about half a mile or so west to find a spot you can safely u-turn and approach the entrance from the west. All this criticism aside, we found what we were looking for, peace and quiet that is close to Bahia Honda State Park, at a reasonable price. If you cannot overlook all the issues mentioned above regarding the house, this is not the place for you.

Spring break 2025

Plenty of room for 2 couples. Dark skies and quiet area great for star gazing. Close to Key West but not in the chaos. Unit 15 needs some repairs. Be careful with the outside banister and gap between the unit and entry steps. Had a great time. Good vale for the cost.

It needs work. 3 windows on the front porch, molding missing and very dirty. Back porch has animal feces on railing. Not enough towels. Cleaning supplies not there, There was 2 tiny bottles of palmolive dish soap. Horrible stuff would not take grease off frying pan. No winded, need dawn detergent. no dishwashrt

Not what I expected

The unit we reserved was not what we expected. There was rotting wood falling from the back porch, the front steps had a large gap between them and the porch. Both of these seemed minor but once inside we found rust inside the microwave. We only stayed one of our 7 nights. The owner responded to our messages and had the rotten wood removed but refused any type of refund when we left. This could be a nice place but all of the property needs a good deal of updating and maintenance work

Cottage mit Südstaatenflair

Die Anlage und die Räumlichkeiten sind sehr schön - auf altmodische Weise symphatisch.Allerdings ist das Haus etwas renovierungsbedürftig,so ist das Holz an dem Dach der Veranda hinten morsch.Die Einrichtung der Küche war,was die Geräte betrifft,gut ausgestattet.Allerdings fehlte es an Geschirr,so gab es weder tiefe Teller noch Schalen und kein Brett zum Schneiden.Das müsste mal kontrolliert werden.Aber wir hatten,alles in allem,einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt

Understanding Expectations

This is a very affordable property for the lower Keys. It took me about 40 minutes to drive to Key West because of the strict speed limits. The property is old and is not updated. There was a note on the AC that said not to lower the temperature below 76, which I wish I would have known in advance. I read the reviews, and a recent guest complained about a leak from the ceiling. I asked about this in advance, and was told it was a clog in the AC line that was fixed. However, there was a leak from the ceiling that dripped regularly during my stay that required an bowl and towel on the floor, as the first time I walked through it I slipped (not knowing it was there). All this being said, I was just looking for a place that I could work at during the day and drive into Key West at night. The wifi was fine. The TV worked. There were basic dishes, plates, silverware available. Just know what you're getting, as its one of the least expensive places for a reason.

Florida is Great

Great property. Met all my needs and was clean, safe, easy to find. Enjoyed my time there. The property is equidistant from Key West and Bahia Honda State Park, both of which are great places to visit and explore.

Air conditioning issue

This property is in a good location however, the house has an air conditioning problem in which the air conditioning was leaking all week while we were there. We had a bowl on the floor to catch the water dripping from the ceiling. So much dripping that it filled a bowl every 12 hours and the landlord was not able to get it fixed. We were told by the home owner to leave the air on 79!!! Very disappointed

Perfect for our family time together

I came to visit my son and watch his concert at Key West high school. We did a lot of fun things but the cabin was a perfect place to come in and relax. I watched the sun rise every morning at the dock and the kids enjoyed the pool in the evening. I plan to visit the cottage again next year

It was satisfactory visit. Room on porch had holes in it. A c leaked in hallway. Mattresses were the worst. Need to replace them. They sunk in the middle. Great location. No one bothered us. Just needs t l c. Oh and not enough towels for 4 people for three nights

Perfect spot for relaxing

This property is super cute. Convenient for being close to Key West without the price of Key West. We VERY much enjoyed our 3 night stay. Our property (#15) had a little grill outside so we were able to cookout one night of our stay. Make sure you stop at Publix or Winn Dixie before getting there it is a litle trek to get to grocery store. I would also suggest bringing a few extra bath towels, our cottage only had 3 and 4 adults. Most things you would need, pots, pans, silverware, cups, coffee pot. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you so much for having a great priced place that we could enjoy the keys without spending a fortune.

I didn’t feel like I could relax here. There is a window in the bathroom with no curtain with a building that can look right in, the bathroom floor was not clean, found a dead cockroach in the dining area when we arrived, and the beds were uncomfortable.

Perfect Bahamian Cottage

We had a delightful time in Cottage #15 which was more spacious than expected. The cottage and furniture were dated but had a charming appeal. The small screened porch was perfect for sipping AM coffee and PM wine. The kitchen was equipped with coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator, range, old but usable pots/pans, cups/glasses and dinnerware. There were ceiling fans, AC, bath towels, dish soap, hand soap, toilet paper and paper towels. All suitable for our 4-nite stay. We did not use the pool, laundry area, beach or boat ramp as we were busy with daily activities in Key West. The beds were not as firm as we prefer but comfortable with multiple pillow options. We did hear noise from the road but with the AC ‘fan’ on, we were not disturbed. We would stay again based on the charming cottage and location to Key West.

The property is cute, quaint and tired looking. It is appropriately priced for such a cottage in the keys. If it had cost more, I would list the improvements it needs but, we got what we paid for.

Cute little place. Could use a little TLC. Needs new towels and kitchen needs bake wear, couldn't even find a cookie sheet. No pitcher to make sangria. Pools are nice but needs a few more chairs and loungers .

Key West hub

Four of us stayed in the 2 bedroom location. It was initially hard to find since the there were no distinguishing signs for the turn off to the location. After calling the caretaker, she was able to talk us through the directions to the property. The place was comfortable, but could use a bit of maintenance. It wouldn’t take much to make this place a 9 out of 10. As it stands it’s probably a 6/7 out of 10. Fresh paint to cover water stain in the ceiling, replace broken bathroom exhaust fan cover, replace torn porch window screen. All of those cosmetic issues give the place a shabby look. On the positive side, the place has all you need for a short stay. Nice kitchen with full size refrigerator and utensils for cooking. Adequate seating in the living room. Tv with cable service and fast wifi. Bed were comfortable. The 1 bathroom was adequate in size, just a bit dated/worn down, but clean. It’s a short drive to Key West so it serves at a nice jumping off point. Did not get to use any of the other amenities such as the pool since we were there in January. Good value for the price and condition of the property. Would stay there again. Beware of hidden fees. His was my first Vrbo rental so that maybe typical for the service.

Cudjoe Key Cottages

This has the potential of being a very nice place to stay. Unfortunately, the cottage we stayed in had signs of being old and not kept up. The bed was very soft. It gave no support. The toaster started smoking when we tried to use it. The corkscrew was broken, so we couldn't open the bottle of wine we bought. The shower rod fell down when my husband was taking a shower. The first night we were there the power went out. It was late at night and the property manager didn't answer when we tried to call her. We spent the rest of the night being very cold, since there was no heat, not to mention no lights in the entire place! The property was very hard to find. There was no street sign on the street we had to turn down from the main road. There were no signs indicating the name of the cottages, showing where they were. If we go back to the area, we will look for a different place to stay.
