We stayed here Fri & Sat night for a ski trip at Monarch. Wendy (the host) was wonderfully communicative! The house was super spacious, beds were comfortable, kitchen and all rooms were perfect! We especially LOVED the wood burning stove where we made smores! The ping pong table was a bonus too!**Highly recommend staying here!**
We enjoyed being able to stay here, it was very and clean, and has the most beautiful view, it’s is very big and has lots of space, we definitely enjoyed the downstairs area, We hope to come back here again soon!!
My family and I enjoyed our stay at the house. Location was close to town, house was clean, kitchen well stocked to cook meals, and family had plenty of room to spread out. Recommend staying at this house, if we choose Monarch for our trip next year, will definitely rebook at this house.
We had an amazing stay at the “Birdhouse”! My family of 4 along with my adult son and his 2 kids, really enjoyed the home. There was plenty of space for all of us!
Great place with quick access to skiing at Monarch and to the lovely town of Salida. Spacious and clean with beautiful views. Kitchen well appointed, except needs a cutting board.
Chose this home for our last ski trip. Had my 17mo granddaughter and I had brought a child gate to block off the lower staircase, (noticed on listing pics) that enabled us to enjoy the very large lower level without worry of a stair accident, upper stairs has a door to close off.
We were even able to sled on the property itself which was great.
We will definitely return here for a summer trip.
This property is very comfortable. It was close to Salida, Buena Vista and Mt. Princeton Hot Springs. With 5 bedrooms it accommodated both adult couples and teenagers. The view north from the deck was amazing with a panorama of the whole valley, the Collegiate Peaks and the weather. The kitchen had all we needed, the beds were quite comfortable - all in all, it served well as our family retreat. Private, quiet. Would recommend.

Problem with mic.
The rental house was infested with mice. Caught 2 mice first day and a third one got away. Hot water tank was not enough for 4 adults. Property manager was very responsive in bringing over mouse traps but we decided to leave after first night. Owner did refund out rental in full which we were grateful. We found other non-VRBO accommodations and moved on day 2.
Property has 3 living areas so very good for mix of adults and kids. Room for grandparents, children and grandchildren. Children would play ping pong all evening to work off energy after skiing all day. Great view from deck and very quiet and private area. We were told when I asked, that only problem with group of 13 was the single hot water tank. However, knowing that we simply spread out showers and had no problems with supply. Apparent miscommunication provided only 10 towels and 3 additional towels were provided the next morning.
With many years in a row of springbreak trips to Salida this was our first with major snow on the ground, about 18 inches or so. Since the long driveway was not plowed took 1 vehicle 3 tries to get up to the house. My Subaru with all terrain tires had no problem. So great place for peace and quiet and space but just be prepared for Spring weather in Colorado.
This home was everything we could have asked for, just awesome. It was an adjustment getting used to not having air-conditioning. However, it was only warm for a very short period and we had brought our own fans which helped. I would suggest that they have a “good” fan for every bedroom and the three gathering spaces.
The microwave quit working during our stay, but was not a huge inconvenience as we didn’t even realize until the last two days of our stay.
The only real issue we had with this place was the driveway. We were pulling a 24 ft gooseneck trailer behind a crew cab pickup with a 6 ft bed. We were “barely” able to get in the driveway. So, beware if you are pulling a link trailer.
Otherwise, the house was awesome for our group. Everyone had a great time and was very pleased with the property. I would highly recommend this place, especially for an adult group!! Management was extremely easy to work with, and quick to respond to our calls. Thank you for a great stay!!
