Hello, we would like to introduce ourselves. We are Doug and Jacki Alexander, the proud owners of this beautiful home. We purchased this home a little over three years ago from R.C. Smith, who had rented it out on the VRBO site for over 5 years (VRBO #754008). This land has been in his family for over 100 years, and he built this home several years ago in the middle of what is still a working cattle ranch. Although our family was not raised here, we feel a strong family connection to the property through stories that R.C. has shared with us. Our family also comes from a long line of cattle ranchers in the panhandle of Texas. We hope that you and your family enjoy your stay in our home and that you will also feel this sense of family connection to the property. For those faithful return guest from R.C.'s site we would like to say THANK YOU and WELCOME BACK. For those of you who will be staying here for the first time we would like to say WELCOME, come enjoy the peaceful surroundings and making memories together with your family.
*NOTE*: While this property shows a five night minimum during the summer, we often have intervals between reservations which are less than five nights. The site will not allow you to choose these intervals because of the five night minimum. If interested in one of these shorter intervals we would love to try and accommodate , just send an inquiry utilizing dates which are available and we can adjust the dates on the site and will send you a special quote for the shorter stay. Thanks!
The property is an outdoors person's dream. The home is in a working cattle farm which lies in a valley surrounded by the Ouachita National Forest and Muddy Creek Wildlife Management Area. Deer and small game are prevalent on the farm, with the occasional black bear on the property. Hunting, fishing, hiking, biking and boating are all within five minutes, and Lake Ouachita is only twenty minutes away. Fishing is only seconds away, as the 8 acre pond in the backyard is stocked with bass, crappie, bluegills and catfish. Guests have the run of the entire home, pool and spa, as well as the opportunity to fish in the large pond, so don't forget your fishing poles.
Kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans, bakeware and utensils, as well as sporting a 48" Viking Range with grill. This up-to-date kitchen lets you prepare meals as if you were in your own home. All bathrooms are stocked with towels and linens provided. We also have some beach towels available for your time by the seasonal pool or year round hot tub. Two bedrooms have king beds each with private baths and two bedrooms have queen beds each with private baths. Separate lounging and entertainment area upstairs is great for kids with TV and games, with bedrooms located on either side. East bedroom has a queen bed while west bunk room has a full and twin bed available.
The heart pine flooring throughout the home was salvaged from two local 1800's barns. All lumber in the home (except for trusses) was milled from pine timber on the farm. All stone for the foundation and the chimney as well as pool area are from the farm.
The living area offers a recliner and sectional leather sofa, a flat screen 50" TV with DirecTV, and a fireplace with plenty of room for relaxing or entertaining.

Approximately 20 minutes away is Lake Ouachita, which is virtually surrounded by the Ouachita National Forest and has some 970 miles of Arkansas's most pristine shorelines.
