SMOKING: No smoking/vaping/e-cigarettes/open flames.
TRASH: There is a box with a trashcan in the font by the road. Make sure to leave trash in box to prevent Bears from coming up for the trash. Housekeeping will take away at checkout. If staying for an extended stay or have a lot of trash we ask that guest take it to Gilmer Landfill Scale House (Ellijay) or Waste Management (Blue Ridge). Less than $1 a bag to drop off.
MOTORCYCLES: Not recommended due to gravel road.
ROADS: We drive a front wheel drive minivan and rear wheel drive SUV. Home is 0.3 miles up a typical mountain curvy gravel road. If you are not use to mountain roads they are narrow and can be a little intimidating at first but are part of the adventure of getting to a cabin in the woods. Gravel road can get challenging with a lot of rain or snow if not use to them. They really do change depending on the weather. We do not recommend a low riding car. If you are not use to mountain roads, we would recommend a large SUV or 4-wheel drive.

Guest Access:
Easy contact-less check-in.

The Neighborhood:
Home is located in Cherry Log Mountain community. There are trails throughout the community that can be accessed by walking down the roads. There is an abundance of wild life so keep a look out for Deer, Turkeys or Bear. There are 2 lakes towards the back. We would recommend downloading the Far Out App and get the Benton MacKaye trail off of it for hiking trails throughout the community. The Benton MacKaye trail can be accessed by walking down the hill from our cabin we have stairs leading down to it (once at the road look for the metal ramp and follow the trail with white diamonds) or you can walk down the gravel road 0.3 miles to the creek and jump on the trail. I can send you a map as well. The Benton MacKaye is over 300 miles long!

Getting Around:
In addition to the trails in Cherry Log we are 7 miles from downtown Blue Ridge where you will find lots of antique shops and restaurants. Hike the famous Appalachian Trail, visit Fall Branch Falls, or spend the day on the waters of Lake Blue Ridge. There is also the Expedition Bigfoot, Sasquatch Museum right down the road.
The small town of Ellijay is about 13 miles South where you will find more antiques shops and restaurant. It is also known for its mountain bike trails.
The roads in the community are mountain roads. If you are not use to them the first time might be a little intimidating but then they become part of the adventure.

Other Things to Note:
Kitchen is stocked and ready for vacation cooking. We work hard to have everything you need to cook comfortably while on vacation.

Interaction with Guests:
Home is located at the end of a cul-de-sac in Cherry Log Community. It is between Blue Ridge (5.9mi) and Ellijay (12mi).
Road leading up to home is paved until the last 0.3 miles which is all gravel. Please follow directions we sent and not GPS.

Empty-nesters getaway
My husband and I grabbed the opportunity to head to Blueridge for a quick 3 day trip before the mayhem of 5 adult children and their families come to our home this weekend for Thanksgiving. The cabin was the perfect place to relax and return to nature. We are rejuvenated and ready for the crazy to start. We will be back!!

Mountain Getaway
The cabin was perfect for our annual getaway. Everything we needed was supplied and the weather was perfect. Ashly and Chad were great host and we were given some good ideas for daily excursions by them through their welcome binder. We highly recommend Bear Necessities for your next trip to Blue Ridge

The best the place to stay
Nice and cozy had two fires out side at night with a glass of wine. Cooked some steaks on the outside pit one night and used the hot tub it’s so nice the way it’s placed out side by the woods. We loved our stay the inside had everything we needed.

Perfect family retreat in the woods!
Bear Necessities was exactly what I was looking for! Easy to get to (though an SUV is great on the mountain roads!), this cabin really helped us get away from it all. The loft was perfect for our kids who made it into their own little retreat when not playing in the yard or cuddling in the swing chair on the porch. The kitchen is cozy but had everything I needed to make some family dinners. The host was communicative and the directions and advice given through the app and website made everything easy and made us feel right at home. We look forward to a return visit soon!

Couples Getaway
Bear Necessities was the perfect cabin for us! My husband and I booked this trip to relax and getaway for a few days. It met all of our expectations and Ashly even checked on us after our first night. It’s a beautiful cabin and was very quiet and peaceful. It’s very close to many great restaurants and attractions. The temps at the end of September were in the low 50’s and high 70’s.

Wonderful time away from it all
The cabin is great, very easy to find and the instructions on getting there and getting in were all very clear. The memory foam mattress was fantastic and helped me get some incredible sleep. Would not hesitate to recommend this property to couples or to a family with one or two small children.

Wonderful Private Cottage
Blown away by this private cottage just 8 minutes away from Blue Ridge. It’s perfect for 2 people, but could easily fit 4. The outdoor area sold us from the photos and absolutely loved it when we got there! Follow the directions that are provided when driving to the cabin, and make sure you have a car that can handle driving on gravel going up steep hills. We absolutely loved everything and would come back if we plan another trip to Blue Ridge.

Cozy Cabin with Beautiful and Peaceful Views
We enjoyed a lovely stay at the Bear Necessities cabin over the holidays. Ashly and Chad were beyond accommodating and helped us when we got stuck in snow on our first night. This cabin is very quiet, peaceful, cozy, clean, and has everything you need for a nice getaway. We even brought our dog who loved our daily hikes and sitting by the fire pit, or swinging on the swing. I would recommend all wheel drive if you come during the winter, as the roads in the area as well as on the mountains were very slippery.

A Perfect Trip!
This cabin was near perfect! Very comfortable and cozy. There was plenty of firewood provided for the firepit. I have rented numerous times and this was the first time that firewood was provided. The view was wonderful (we stayed at the end of October and the Autumn leaves were beautiful). It is recommended that one feel comfortable with mountain roads but the nice part of navigating to the cabin was that it is quiet and tucked away (yet you are only about 10-15 minutes from downtown Blue Ridge). Overall, I highly recommend this cabin. It was wonderful. Ashley (the owner) communicated well she provided a good deal of helpful information.

Mountain getaway
It was a great little getaway cabin. It was small, but perfect for two people and a pet. My dog was sad she couldn’t go up the stairs inside because it was more like a ladder, but she enjoyed exploring outside. The road was a little rough getting up and down to the cabin, but we made it in our crossover suv! Also, communication with the host was great, she was very helpful. I would recommend this place for couples looking for a little escape.

First time in Blue Ridge
Really enjoyed our stay in the hills of Blue Ridge. The cabin was perfect for the 2 of us. Very quiet, with a good view of the mountains of Blue Ridge. Off the beaten path but still close to downtown Blue Ridge that we did not have to drive far to get there. "Bear"y well maintained and owners responded quickly to my few questions. The outside hanging chair was very comfortable but easier to get into then out of!!!! I give it a 10 stars out of 5 stars rating and would most certainly stay there again if I had a chance.

My husband and I drove up from Orlando for my husband's birthday. Just a couple days to get away from everything with our two senior pups. Our host was quite gracious with accommodations including pet bowls for our girls. The home has such a charming feel with touches of upgrades throughout. Perfect mountain getaway for a couple
We very much enjoyed the stay at our mountain cabin. It was in a good location, close to Blue Ridge, but felt out in the mountains - not too crowded with only one other cabin in site from our place. It was stocked with all the basics and clean. I only had to reach out to the owners once and had a very quick response. I highly recommend it!

Chill
Small, but plenty enough and cozy cabin in a wooded setting. There is a little bit of view between the trees of some mountains. The whole place is very relaxed, surrounded by nature's sounds. Firepit and extra outdoor seating are all a perfect distance from the front porch (some cabins have their firepit far down or removed away from house - not this one; everything is right there). Comfortable bed, equipped kitchen, really everything one needs is there. I rented this to relax and work on a project without distractions and I was successful in doing that. I highly recommend this cabin. Thank you!

My husband and I have 3 kids. We love to travel to Ellijay and Blue Ridge. Bear Necessities is the perfect location as it puts us in-between both of these towns. We are always exploring new trails and waterfalls in the area. The trails are amazing and our kids love "going on an adventure." When its a weekend without the kids we love hunting for treasure in the antique stores and visiting the wineries. Bear Necessities is a blend of our style as we love mixing old with new. I hope you like it as much as we do!

Why they chose this property

As soon as we walked into Bear Necessities I knew it was for us. Its a cabin that will take you away from all the hustle of everyday life. We have 3 small children (8,5,3) that are growing way to fast. The cabin allows us to all be close together and just enjoy the moments.
