Great location, close to everything but yet in the woods. Two king size beds were comfortable. Tv in every room. Easy check in. Cabin was clean but a little dusty in some areas. A lot of decor to look at! Good communication from host.

Awesome

We have stayed at a Geri McBride cabin for the last four years. There is really no reason to go anywhere else. We have loved the cabins, the locations and Geri is absolutely wonderful. You can't go wrong with a Geri cabin.

The stay was nice. Convenient to food stores and gas stations.

We really enjoyed our stay here. There were some "upkeep" things that probably need to be addressed, which didn't inconvenience us, but overall, a nice place to stay.

Great cabin in a great location

We recently stayed a week in Old Bears Lodge. This was our second stay in this cabin. We absolutely love all the bear decor and the coziness of the cabin. It’s very convenient to local restaurants and entertainment. The owner is quick to respond. The check in and check out could not be easier! The stairs leading into the cabin are a little steep for those who are older or can’t get around as well as others. Overall, it’s a great cabin and we would absolutely recommend it!

Great holiday weekend

Our family of 4 was so comfortable in this cute cabin! My kids loved all the bears! My husband loved the king size beds and I loved the hot tub and fire place!! Surprise feature… there were heaters in the bathrooms! It was very cold that weekend and the tile floors got very chilly but the heater was amazing! The shower water got hot very quickly and water pressure was good! Geri was a very responsive host and answered all our questions quickly! We enjoyed our stay very much and hope to be back again some day!

Adorable cabin that felt like it was in the middle of nowhere, yet close to everything.

We absolutely LOVED our stay in this cabin! It was very cozy and would be a great location for a Fall or Winter visit with the fireplace and hot tub. The two King suites made for enough separation for our family and we all commented on our great nights of sleep. The driveway would be a bit steep for someone elderly, but if you park right, you don't notice it. Geri was very responsive the one time I reached out. My issue was with the door lock, but that was more of our misunderstanding the instructions and her patiently talking us through. Finally, the porch was a great place for us to spend our evenings. Our dog loved it too! Thanks for a great place for our annual family trip.

Labor Day weekend

The cabin is very cute. Has way to much stuff sitting around. Cleanliness was very bad. Cob webs were on a lot of stuff, floors were dirty. Wished we would of known we had to share the drive way with neighbor. Remotes for tvs batteries were dead no backs on one controller. Tv in one of bedroom was not working well at all. This place needs someone to come in and do a thorough cleaning from ceiling to floor then this place would be great. Definitely needs spider spray. Major huge spider webs around porch.

Terrible driveway

The roads leading to property are good. We were looking for even roads and no winding roads. This is correct, however when you arrive the driveway is a 45 degree and very difficult to unload and load your luggage. Two couples staying in the cabin was great, however all 4 are seniors and we found it very difficult to unload/load luggage on such an angle and then drag luggage up stairs. The hot tub is on back porch, however you can't open the back door, there is no back yard. Cleaning staff must have filled the hot tub to capacity and when you tried to sit in it , it overflowed. Owner was responsive when we had a question about the lock on the door. Location is great if you don't want to be in town, Cleaning people could do a better job in cleaning. I would not recommend this to seniors only because of the driveway and stairs.

Awful.

If I could give this place a zero I would. The owner had that absolute worst attitude, worst communication, comes off extremely condescending. We came into the cabin and immediately could tell the a/c wasn’t working. Looked at the thermostat it’s set to 70 degrees and it was 80 degrees jn the cabin. I texted her through all to let her know what it going on, she calls me and immediately has an off putting attitude. I proceed to explain what’s going on, she starts having me and my husband searching for the breaker because she thinks that’s what it is. She has NO CLUE where her own breaker is. She’s getting frustrated and annoyed. I tell her nothings blowing, nothings working and on top of that her filters were so clogged up. (Took pics of everything). She explains to me she will have her housekeeper come look at it and it will be 45 minutes. I say ok I’m going to take my kids to eat while you get it looked at. Not even 15 minutes later I am loading my 2 year old up on our truck at bottom of driveway. Her housekeeper shows up and blocks my truck in, shuts her truck off and just sits there for about 5 minutes. I then get a phone call from the owner asking why am I blocking the driveway. I explain to her I’m not I am loading my child up to leave since it’s an incline and we are leaving. I tell her YOUR HOUSEKEEPER is the one blocking us in. She keeps telling me she doesn’t get what I am saying and she’s getting an attitude with me. At this point the housekeeper finally moves away from my truck, never introduced herself, just parks and stares at us. Now I’m having words with this owner who is being obnoxious on the phone, she hangs up on me after telling me her and I won’t get along. All while I’m standing in the driveway with my 2 year old. We call VRBO and request our money back and start getting our stuff out of the cabin. Meanwhile her housekeeper is taking the disgusting, filthy clogged up air filters outside. We have used Vrbo 4 times a year to come to Tennessee. This was a horrific experience and this lady really needs to humble herself. Also take note if you have small children and want to use the outside porch, don’t bother, they never spray for spiders and it’s covered with spiders everywhere. She needs to learn to take responsibility for her cabin if she’s going to not only take peoples money but send out ridiculous scam paperwork before hand. The only scammer here seems to be her. Go somewhere else.

The property needed general maintenance to help keep up with its use. Also, the housekeepers could have paid more attention to detail in the main living area. Unfortunately, the loft was unavailable for our stay. The location was excellent! Communication with the property manager was very prompt.

I live in Nashville & have been going to the Great Smoky Mountains all of my life. It all started when my Daddy would take the whole family there every year. I loved it then & I still love it now. The Smoky Mountains have so many wonderful memories of my childhood & I never get tired of going there. These days, my trips are with my Great Pyrenees, Buddy. His favorite thing to do is to layout on the deck and watch for bears that come to visit.

Why they chose this property

My love of mountain cabins began when I bought my first cabin called the Chocolate Moose in 2007. Over the years, I learned there was a real need for cabins that could be accessed without traveling on any mountain roads. Old Bears Lodge cabinis perfect for that. There are absolutely NO mountain roads to travel & the location is super convenient when you want to visit all the wonderful area attractions, outlet malls & restaurants in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg. Also, it is conveniently located to I40 just a half-mile from Soaky Mountain Water Park, the newest area water park that consists of 50 acres of fun-filled activities for the entire family and The Wilderness Water Park.

What makes this property unique

There are NO white-knuckle-scary-mountain roads to travel going to Old Bears Lodge cabin. It is very convenient to I40, it is located close to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg activities. It is on a very quiet street just off of the main road at Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg.

This adorable bear-fun-filled cozy log cabin is ONE level 2 bedroom, 2 bath log cabin.

Old Bears Lodge has 2 king bedrooms, one bedroom is on the north end of the cabin & the other bedroom is on the south end of the cabin, offering maximum privacy. Each bedroom has its own full bath inside its bedroom for complete privacy from the rest of the cabin.
