Summary:
The Ibis Residence is a one bedroom, one bath, unit located in the newly renovated, Sandpiper Inn. Festooned with gorgeous palm trees and an ever present ocean breeze, The Sandpiper Inn has been coveted by travelers as the most colorful inn on Sanibel. Close to beaches, dining and shopping, this property boasts one of the best locations on all of Sanibel Island.
NEW: dog enclosure for our 4-legged guests to play while you enjoy our outdoor seating areas with grill and fire pit!

The Space:
This unit is approximately 550 square feet and located within a Key West Styled motel known as the Sandpiper Inn. Characterized by bright hues of pink, blue, and orange, the building and property are extremely peaceful and serene, perfect for escaping the hustle bustle of city or suburban life. Inside of the unit is a full kitchen, allowing guests to dine in and skip the expense and crowds at local restaurants if desired. Living areas includes a brand new renovated kitchen, TV area with a premium sleeper sofa, and a full dining table. This unit also features a full bedroom, separate and detached from the living area with two double beds. Also included is a full bathroom with walk in shower.

This unit is known as a frequent guest favorite, because it is located on the second floor of the Sandpiper Inn, providing guests with an awe inspiring sea breeze on demand and an oversized balcony equipped with chimes, fans, chairs, and tables for enjoying evening drinks. It is also unique among island inns in that it is surrounded by only residential homes in an extremely quiet area of Sanibel, away from the hustle and bustle of more crowded touristic centers of the island. Furthermore, built in the 1950s but receiving a full structural and interior reconstruction in late 2023, guests can enjoy the vibrant history of these pre-causeway inns while not sacrificing at all in the comfort or amenities departments.

We are pet friendly for up to two dogs up to 50lbs each. There is a $50 per dog fee that will be collected from you upon booking or invoiced to you immediately following booking using a payment link.

Guest Access:
Guests have beach access less than 5 minutes from their front door. Additionally, each unit includes access to outdoor seating area with grill and firepit, dog enclosure for our 4-legged guests and complimentary laundry room. Beach gear, towels, and bicycles are also available to guests at no additional cost.

The Neighborhood:
This suite is located within the historic Sandpiper Inn, on Donax Street. Known for its proximity to the beach and all dining/shopping that Sanibel has to offer, Donax Street is one of the most highly coveted areas on all the island. Bikers consider the area to be by far the best and most accessible on Sanibel, due to its equidistance to both Periwinkle Way (where all shopping and dining is) and East Gulf Drive (where all of the gulf beaches are located). For those that do not want to bike or drive far, guests can easily walk to the Sandollar or Blue Giraffe restaurants, both located just a few minutes walk from the front door of this suite. For those willing to venture out a bit further, Tipsy Turtle, El Cielo, Matzaluna are located just a mile down the road at the intersection of Donax Street and Periwinkle Way.

Getting Around:
You are close enough to get around by walking or on bikes, but a rental car is suggested if you would like to explore Captiva or neighboring areas

Comfortable lodging

Adorable gem in Sanibel!

We loved our stay in Sanibel. This property is adorable and a short bike ride to the beach and restaurants. The Property manager was quick to respond to any questions we had. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean. The only negative was no closet or rack to hang clothes on. That being said, it’s the beach so I probably shouldn’t bring wrinkle prone clothing. Having the bikes was a very nice addition!

Sanibel

The property is a short walk to the beach, about a 1-mile walk to a local coffee shop. Great location and good accommodations. although the cost is a little much compared to stays down the block at the resort or Venice and Sarasota. However, it is Sanibel, and it was last minute. The cleaning crew could have done a better job - for instance, the refrigerator's handle, microwave keypad, light switches, and corners of the shower. They appeared to be redoing the units and cleaning up the property. The swings in the back were a nice getaway, and the sitting area outside the unit was nice for morning coffee and evening refreshments.
