Really great views and super nice house.
The place is nice and big with three great decks to enjoy the million dollar views. The downstairs is like a whole separate apartment with a pool table, bathroom, full kitchen and its own deck. Great for giving extra privacy for multiple families or couples.
The driveway and yard are pretty small. Two vehicles at most and no trailers. The road is really steep but I was able to take the dog on some nice walks because the cross streets nearby are reasonably flat but still good exercise!
So we did have the misfortune of being there for monster Hurricane Helene the day before we left. The house is sturdy and on high ground so we never felt in any danger. As expected in any major storm the power went out. We were able to cook using the propane grill on the back deck and the food stayed cool enough in the fridge until we left. There were really beautiful long range views of the weather moving through the valleys. Maggie Valley fared pretty well in the storm. We were able to go to town the night before we left and buy gas and snacks. Passing through Asheville on the way home we realized how lucky we were to be in Maggie Valley instead of the low areas.
Most likely there will never be a storm this bad in our lifetimes in the Smoky Mountains, but it does bring to light certain reminders for any time you are in the mountains. Bring lots of flashlights, rechargeable lanterns, first aid kit etc. Have a good supply of food and water. Top off your gas whenever you can.
