Staying at Half Pint Cabin was an unforgettable experience! Perfect base location for my adventures in and around Mt. Hood National Park. Everything in the cabin was as described. Huge thank you to my host, Blane for assisting when I locked myself out while loading my car. 👍

Adorable
This adorable cabin is on the hill just above town. After skiing and hiking all day, we enjoyed walking down the hill into town in the evenings. Accommodations are simple, but everything you need. Blane was incredible. He answered his messages quickly and was genuinely eager to help when we asked. Thanks for a wonderful spring ski trip!

One of my most memorable trips to the mountain.
This cabin was absolutely perfect. It was cozy, well taken care of and in the perfect location. The communication from the management company was exceptional. There happened to be a rare Spring storm, which delivered a couple feet of snow during our stay. The road and walkway to the cabin were plowed before and during our stay. The cabin delivered the Mountain feel that I was searching for and I will definitely be back.

lovely cabin; perfect location
this little studio cabin was perfect for my needs and so cozy especially with a fire going and snow over halfway up the windows outside! and yes, it's small, just as advertised. the bed was comfortable, plenty of linens, stocked with enough firewood for a few days, everything was very clean and in working order. the best part was the location - i could put on my ski touring gear and just skin up less than 1/4 of a mile directly to the trailhead, or a little further and i was at the trails leading out of Summit. grocery store and restaurants less than two blocks away. very easy access to all the ski resorts (only about a 15 minute drive to meadows.) would absolutely stay again.

Perfect little spot for two, so easy to get to the slopes and walk to restaurants. We especially loved the wood burning stove for warmth and ambiance.

Adorable cabin in great location near skiing and local restaurants
The main purpose of our stay was to have a ski weekend getaway. This cabin is less than 15 minutes from timberline resort, so what is the perfect homebase for skiing. The location was also great because it’s right in downtown government camp. This means there’s quite a few restaurants and shops within walking distance, which was nice to enjoy after a long day on the slopes. There were two things that would have made this stay even more seamless and relaxing: 1. Including kindling or fire starter in the cabin for the woodstove. There were wood logs for the fire, but no kindling. There was a small sign that said you could buy kindling at the general store. By the time we realized that it was late at night and going to the general store wasn’t an option. if you’re going to offer a wood stove and logs, including the five dollars worth of kindling would help guests. 2. The cleaning instructions for check out were quite extensive compared to any rentalI’ve stayed at. For example, they ask you to wipe down stove knobs, clean the inside of the microwave, and to dry and put away all dishes. This really turned us off to doing any cooking in the rental out of concern we wouldn’t get our deposit back, so we avoided eating in the rental at all. All in all, those are two very minor things that would help make this even better for the future. But the cabin was, adorable, comfortable, and very cozy.

Welcome to Mountain Resort Lodging Company. We specialize in offering well maintained, clean, comfortable cabins high in the Northern Oregon Cascades village of Government Camp. Our family has owned cabins on Mt. Hood since 1916 (in 2016 we celebrated 100 years of ownership of our first cabin) and because of this we have spent years living, recreating and exploring in the area. We know Mt. Hood’s history and what it currently has to offer.

We are the owners of the cabins and have happily managed everything ourselves for over 25 years. We do all the reservations, all the advertising, the hiring of the cleaning companies, the post check-out inspection, the pre-cleaning company cleaning, the post-cleaning company cleaning, the cabin setup for the next guest, all cabin maintenance and repair, all the firewood cutting, splitting, and delivery, and all the snow removal. We take great pride in our lodging and encourage you to contact us by telephone or e-mail with any questions you may have. If when you call we can’t satisfy your desired reservation dates we will do our best to give you suggestions on who else to call.

We look forward to working with you.

Sincerely,

Blane and Julie Skowhede

Why they chose this property

The Half Pint Lodge is located in the heart of the alpine village at the base of the Glade Trail. It was constructed in 1938. The cabin features a knotty pine interior and a stone fireplace.

There have been multiple improvements throughout the years to make the cabin more comfortable, convenient, and safe without sacrificing the work done by the skilled craftsman of the 1930's. The cabin was featured on the cover of Homes and Gardens magazine.

The roads to the cabin and parking at the cabin are plowed during winter. There is parking for one car on site with nearby public parking available for additional vehicles.

The cabin has plenty of yard area for children to play and just up the road at the dead end is a great winter play area with a hill ideal for inner-tubing. Access to the trails along the north side of Government Camp are accessed through this area and lead to a large network of hiking/cross country skiing/snowshoeing trails. Trails to south side of the village can be access by walking over the Multorpor bridge. These trails give easy access all the way to Trillium Lake and beyond.

Village shops and restaurants are only a two minute walk away, ideal for be able to leave the car at the cabin when doing culinary and retail exploring.

The cabin is stocked with board games and videos. The Govy General Store (200' away) rents DVD's and sells items to make your trip even more enjoyable.

While at the cabin don't forget to check out the Mt. Hood Museum.

IMPORTANT - Shortly after booking our cabin we will request payment for County Room Tax which VRBO is currently unable to capture at booking. These taxes are 6% of the amount you pay to VRBO. This situation is unwelcome for everyone, so we hope VRBO will update their software soon! All owners using VRBO for lodging on Mt. Hood are in the same situation. What makes this property unique

This cabin is unique due to its size. It is perfect for two people. It is the only cabin this size that we know of in the village.
