About this property

Relaxing 400 square foot studio above our detached garage. Just a few blocks from the Pacific Ocean, coffee shops, bakery, yoga and restaurants in the Bird Rock neighborhood of La Jolla. Quiet and serene with private entrance. King sized pullout couch with memory foam topper sleeps 2 adults comfortably. Inflatable twin sized mattress also available.

Cycle friendly with complementary beach cruisers to explore. Beach chairs, boogie board, beach toys also provided.

Kitchenette (see amenities listed), shower, and balcony overlooking fish pond.

Small, friendly, non-shedding, quiet dogs are welcome upon request, $25 pet fee applies.

Please enjoy our backyard from the comfort of the cottage deck. The backyard is part of our living space, and may be shared upon request.

Perfect location

This studio rental is set on a beautiful property, in what has become one of my favorite parts of the San Diego area. The walk to stores, shopping, wine, coffee, restaurants, and a great bakery is just a matter of a few short blocks. The space itself is outfitted with everything that you should need to enjoy your stay. Highly recommend.

La Jolla Getaway

Nice place to stay if you're ever lucky enough to be in La Jolla. Sunny studio with kitchenette and big TV screen. Excellent location only a few miles from downtown La Jolla in a safe neighborhood. Highly recommended. NB: especially good if you need to park a car whether day or night.

Peaceful and lovely New Years Stay

Marty and Mark supplied toiletries,shampoo, extra blankets, even a heater, paper towels. They even supplied more than a weeks worth of coffee. Mini kitchen was cute, it had a nice touch if you wanted to cook in the kitchen. My family and I were at the location for one week stay. It was peaceful, easy to get to. Nice neighborhood. It was clean. The extra blankets was nice. The outdoor patio was nice to catch some sunshine.

QUITE AND PEACEFUL

Enjoyed the stay. Unfortunately there is a great need to clean the kitchen appliances. All of he toiletries were old. I felt like I was using someone’s old toiletries. The property is not appropriate for anyone who has mobility or balance issues.

The La Jolla cottage was perfect for our long weekend visit for a family member’s wedding. The hosts were fabulous, super-accommodating, and helpful. They let us in early, gave us great restaurant suggestions, and have such a beautiful space. It worked great short-term for 2 adults and 1 kid, the pullout couch was surprisingly comfortable. We loved walking down to the beach for sunset and then sitting on the balcony in the evenings.

Lovely setting, Questionable cleanliness

We stayed in the apartment for 6 nights. We chose to try an apartment on this visit rather than a hotel. We thought a privately owned unit would be cleaner & nicer. The neighborhood, the surroundings, and setting are lovely. The apartment itself has the potential to be wonderful. The cleanliness was in question. IE: The walls up towards the vaulted ceilings have many cobwebs. There is mold on the shower curtain. There is an inch of dust/grime on the blades of the ceiling fan. I won’t go on….the apartment just needs a good cleaning with attention to detail. BTW…. We had a great week in San Diego!

Started off slow but got real sweet

The code on the door would not work, luckily my son was only 15 min. away, stayed in the hide a bed. Could find any assistance first night. Next morning Mark called and thing got back to normal. Very nice location and rental. Slept real good.

Garage Loft as pictured and described

Loft above the garage was accurate as described on VRBO. Location was nice. Many places to eat within walking distance. No issues checking in. Only complaint was lack of internet access. Some issue with WiFi and couldnt connect to alternate provided. Little bit of an inconvenience but we still enjoyed our stay here.

King size yet cozy

My husband is 6 foot seven and 290 pounds so we weren’t sure at first if we pull out bed couch with memory foam with accommodate him or comfortable, but we actually had a great night sleep every night. We also slept with the windows open and the screen door because the owners have planted fruits and Jasmine and they smell incredible all night. The air was perfumed. It’s a darling spot and if you have a big, tall man in your life, he will feel right at home too. Tall ceiling as well and we loved the cushions on the patio chairs too.

Comfy granny flat

Perfect retreat

Situated in a quiet neighborhood but within walking distance of coffee shops, restaurants, and the ocean, the cottage offered a perfect balance of comfort, privacy and convenience. The bed was very comfortable and I enjoyed being able to read, write, and bird watch on the private balcony that overlooks a tranquil garden. On-street parking was readily available anytime of day and check-in/check-out was easy as pie. Many thanks to Mark and Marty for being excellent hosts! Hope to see you again next time I’m in San Diego.

Great Space

Everything was perfect for our short stay. Close to dining/eateries. Close to La Jolla Village,Torrey Pines and downtown San Diego. The upstairs space is perfect for a couple.

Bird Rock Bungalow

Quaint one room apartment in a quiet area. The accommodations were very comfortable and very clean. It was a perfect space for my short stay in LaJolla. The owner is very responsive to questions. I would stay again when in LaJolla.
