About this property
"The Wolf Den" - Lakefront suite with mountain views
Escape the hustle & bustle and unwind in this cozy, private lakefront suite on Douglas Lake (seasonal access) with stunning mountain views. Perfect for single or couples getaway in a lush, natural environment. The kitchenette provides all you need for light meals or snacks: fridge, microwave, toaster oven, air fryer and K-cup machine. Additionally, locally-sourced spring water is provided in a hot & cold dispenser. Dine at the table for 2 inside or al fresco on the covered deck where you have a view of English Mountain and Douglas Lake. Queen-size bed. Private bath. Electric A/C & heat. Wi-Fi. Smart keyless entry and gated access to the property for privacy.
"The Wolf Den" is located on Douglas Lake in an area known as Muddy Creek, which is rich with history of the Cherokee Indians. Stand-Up Paddleboards, kayaks & life jackets are available to enjoy the lake (seasonal lake access is typically May-September), and world-class fishing is available locally (permit required). There is a firepit and Adirondack chairs to chill by the lake in the evening under the stars.
Located next door is Wolf PAWS wolf-dog sanctuary. Wolf PAWS is not open to the public but offers private tours by appointment. You can book a private tour of the sanctuary during your stay at wolfpaws.org to learn more about wolf-dogs (it's best to book in advance as tours fill up quickly during certain times of the year). This rental offers a unique opportunity to hear wolf-dogs howling morning & night from your private deck!
Wildlife is in abundance here, and during your stay it is possible to see black bears, deer, coyote, wild turkey, as well as many varieties of birds such as the Great Blue Heron, the Snowy Egret, Bald Eagles, Osprey and Hummingbirds.
The nearby town of Dandridge (~15 min drive) is the second oldest town in the state of TN and is named after our first First Lady, Martha Dandridge Washington. There are some historic sites to visit as well as boutique shops and a small pub/eatery at Dandridge Brewing Co. Downtown Knoxville is ~45 min drive, Pigeon Forge ~30 min drive, Gatlinburg ~45 in drive and Great Smoky Mountains National Park ~1 hour drive.

About the host
Hosted by Jennifer Ackley

Jeff and I love to travel, and we enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds/cultures during our travels. Hosting guests here at The Wolf Den allows us to meet travelers from all over that are coming to our beautiful area of the world. Jeff calls this our "Garden of Eden Corner of the Universe"!
Why they chose this property
We love being on the lake (seasonal access ~May-Sept), swimming, paddling and boating. Our dog, Red, also loves dock diving and chasing the stick in the lake! Even our cat, Felix, will wander down to the lake to see what all the activity is about. The mountain views provide a sensational backdrop to this beautiful, private property. In the winter, we get to see snow-capped English Mountain, and in the summer the mountains catch the sunset glow reflected on the lake. By the lake, we often see Great Blue Herons, Snowy White Egrets, Bald Eagles and other birds. We have also seen black bears, wild turkey and deer on our property!
What makes this property unique
Being lakefront, you are just steps away from cooling off in the heat of the summer. Year-round, we have spectacular views. And the property is private, providing a relaxing "getaway" where you can get back to nature. We even have a fire pit lakeside with Adirondack chairs where you can star-gaze at night.
